  1. Hi to all Members, Just to let everyone know I went to Chris Vince for repairs to LCD and Dash Console lights and he fixed everything and all is now as good as new. Please do not hesitate to give this nice guy a call if you have the same symptons. Lexus dealers do not even know the cause of the problem and will try to fit all new ECU etc. at a cost of around £1000, not good. I cannot recommend this service highly enough and as I understand from this forum it is quite a common fault that occurs at various stages on the MK1 & Mk2 models, my 1994 LS400 only had 68000 miles on the clock, so it is probably more age than useage of the car. Best wishes to you all. Regards, Greywolf.
  2. Hi all, I was reading the thread on the subject of the Power/ECT button on or off difference? Which has been covered pretty well, can anyone elaborate on the Overdrive button on the Auto gear lever, what is the differences and advantages and best driving style in or out?? LS400 by the way. Thanks in anticipation. Best Regards, Greywolf.
  3. Hi Guys, Sounds like we ought to start a new political party here, what about the GOMIC party, Grumpy Old Men In Cars (I speak for myself of course), and let's have a revolution!! Or I suppose we just have to put up with what they come up with, do you think any of the parties will have any common sense?? This thread could go on forever!! Regards, Greywolf.
  4. Hi Spikes, Thanks for the welcome, what type of Lexus do you have? Is it Radstock you live, nice part of the country, I cover Bath area in my day job. Regards, Greywolf.
  5. Totally wrong Gino, I am in Farnborough Hants. I am not associated in any way with the company you mention, in fact unwittingly, I supplied nearly all of the information they needed, to start repairing Lexus climate controls. Having spent many months researching the subject, to identify the causes and weaknesses that resulted in my own climate control, dashboard and fuel guage failing, then rectifying the defective items, I now repair these generic electronic defects to help other owners out, by costing a fraction of the company you mention. Thanks anyway for your kind thoughts. Chris Chris, Following my previous message regarding the LCD and also dashboard lights etc. it seems like you are the man I need!! If you can furnish me with your contact details direct to my email address at g.rowe@ukonline.co.uk I am based at Taunton, so if I drove to Farnborough could the repairs be done in a working day? Your prompt reply would be appreciated, I will let you have my phone number from my email reply. Regards, Greywolf.
  6. Hi All on the Gas Guzzlers Topic, I would just like to add my five penny worth... Those politicians in power should get their own in order before using an easy option to raise revenue, I am in a position to know that more energy is wasted in Government and Local Council properties than in the majority of private properties....ask this question to your local council " Why do you not provide efficient buildings and heating systems in schools, civic buildings and all government buildings??" If not why not Tax them!! "Why do they not sort out the infrastructure radically to reduce congestion, accidents, deaths, lost hours to the economy, fuel wastage etc.etc??" "Why do we have to drive modern vehicles on roads that were designed 50-100 years ago??!!" Also a point to ponder for every £ the government spends they probably get back at least 75p. in the various forms of taxation....think about it, as the money pays the contractors, who buy the materials and pay wages, and pay tax on the profits, the wages are spent on food and products with VAT, for the people to but cars and fuel and pay taxes for fuel and even parking when you are not using the vehicle!!! So there is no excuse for the government not to invest on a whole new infrastructure!! The more I think about it the more I realise that what we are all to blame for not electing people who can do the job, or maybe it is the politicians that have got the world in the mess it is in. That's it I'm off to a desert island somewhere 'cos the worlds gone mad!! All the Best, Greywolf.
  7. Hi, Just a note to say Hi, I have just joined the LOC although the 1994 LS400 is my partner Nicola's pride and joy, I will have to be the point of contact as Nicola and computers do not mix, maybe one day....... There are a couple of electrical problems I need some advice on and hopefully save some costly repairs, the car has only done 68000 miles and is used mainly for short journeys, although we do like to give it a run occasionally to blow the cobwebs out. We live in Taunton, Somerset and I think the nearest main dealers are at Exeter or Bristol. Where in the Forum is the best place to post the electrical problems? I am also not very good (or lucky) when trying to navigate around, I usually post emails in the wrong topic box!! I wish had joined before as I know just how helpful these type of Forums are and all who take the time to run them and contribute are to be commended. As soon as I have my feet under the table I will hopefully contribute more, do not know much about cars but I do know something about Commercial and Domestic boilers!! Best Regards, Greywolf.
