  1. I can't seem to get the sticks of chalk to stick to the belt; they keep flying off.
  2. WD40 is a penetrating oil. If the belt is slipping (which usually makes a screeching noise) WD40 will only make it slip more, but without noise. Actually, its not the belt slipping that causes the noise. Its more common in the cold weather; its the hardness of the rubber on the pulley. I was shown the trick many years ago by a mechanic. Ive used it on my baby and infact used it only this week on daughter's vauxhall ashtray.
  3. Firstly, no it's not normal. I concur that the likelihood is its low on PAS fluid. Check and eliminate the PAS. If it continues, it could be the alternator belt squealing (with the engine running, give the belt/pulley a mega blast of WD40 and try to avoid the hand in the engine problem; it hurts). You might need to squirt the belt a couple of times over a few days. If that doesn't cure it, it could be the water pump, but unlikely.
  4. With money no object, I would like to go back in time and collect my baby brand new from Lexus Park Lane where she was born.
  5. Just been out and tried searching with all combinations of TA, TI and NF including all on and all off and no joy.
  6. I have somehow disabled the RDS function on my OEM headunit. This is not covered in the Owners Manual and thus I turn to you guys. I had to disconnect the battery for a while thus causing the unit to lose its memory. When I re-connected, the unit was unable to find FM channels, so I entered and saved manually but no RDS displayed. Poor signal me thinks and set off in the hope of finding a good signal. No result. I'm thinking that powering on whilst depressing another button, could be the solution. But what button?
  7. These are links to bulbs I bought. They aren't necessarily an exact match but they were cheap (Maplins wanted £0.99 each for 1 of them!!!) http://www.soundlightuk.com/shop/products/Green-12V-65mA-Sub%252dminiature-Wire-Ended-Bulb-With-23mm-Wire-Fitting.html http://www.soundlightuk.com/shop/products/12V-65mA-Sub%252dminiature-Wire-Ended-Bulb-With-120mm-Fly-Lead.html
  8. Don't know about series three, if you have a TA [traffic announcement] button on your radio turn it off, this may do it!! Thanks Roy, but tried it. I'm thinking it will be something like hold x-button when powering up, but "X" remains a mystery
  9. Guys I have searched tinternet, this forum and the audio forum all without success. Does anyone know how to turn the RDS function on and off?
  10. I think you should be able to get a replacement from a scrapper. Without seeing it, it's difficult to be specific but I'm assuming it will be possible to unsolder the offending item and resolder the replacement back in. No doubt it will require magnification and a fine point soldering iron.
  11. And you've changed your Member Profile to show "1997" rather than "1977" which is what Ruud had spotted! Some of these guys are very sharp ;) so forgive the humour. My advice and offer of assistance stands. The bulbs almost definately need replacing. Its not difficult but it is a bit fiddly and you will need a fine point soldering iron. If you have one, its worth taking the units apart and de-soldering at least 1 bulb from each unit and so you know what to order. I haven't had the climate control apart but assume its similar to the radio display.
  12. Have a CAREFUL read of your original post and then at your member profile
  13. I seem to recall the same one failing on my car resulting in a complete new arm and needing complete retracking afterwards. Apologies, it was the upper arm I had to replace Cheap Toyota Parts & Accessories 16 Sydenham Bldgs Bath Avon BA23BS United Kingdom +44 2081442373 payments@cheaptoyotaparts.co.uk

  15. I concur with Ruud, you've popped the wrong year of the car in your profile. On the assumption that the car is a 1997 The answer regarding the seat and wash lights is yes they should. You will need to remove the console from the cupholder end, disconnect the 3 cables, remove the switch carrier from the console - 3 phillips screws - and then remove the 3 bulb holders to be able to unsolder the long-tail bulbs and solder in replacements. With regard to the radio lights, same procedure but you will have to remove the radio and heater controls etc. Let me know if you need any guidance and I will happily assist. The climate control will be the same as you will see.
  16. Hi Steve I think similar advice applies to earlier models; if the cable/s are not correctly adjusted symptoms include those described here and the noticeable gear changes mid range.
  17. Glad LOC was able to show you the true way :winky: please keep in touch a little more often; 24 posts in 8 years can be bettered
  18. My 1995 hs 192k on it and I'm planning on keeping it. You my get £250 or more from a scrap dealer rather than a breaker. And if you do go that route, surrender the tax yourself as you won't get any more for it being taxed. Why not put the private plate on another car? I would keep her.
  19. "Toyota recall LS400's to remind them of how to build proper cars." That was what you meant?
  20. In ASDA (other supermarkets are available) today and some t**t of a girl of about 9 was running up and down the freezer ailses openining and slamming the doors; pity the doors weren't able to :tsktsk: Her parents were probably in Morissons! I thought prison actually No, I dont believe LS400's had auto-up until MKIV's but Celsiors had everything including a Teas Made from outset.

  22. There is a modification that can be made to the existing switch. I haven't seen detail but it has cropped up on here before.
  23. But one of the benefits of LOC membership. Hope you make use of the facilities and enjoy your memebership. Have a play with the search facility and have a look at some of the other forums eg audio.
  24. How did you tint them Steve? I take it you didn't tint the reflectors? I think its all here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=70084&st=0&p=738519&hl=tint&fromsearch=1entry738519
