  1. Hi, I used to drive a Lexus IS 220D 2006 model, just recently I purchased a 2005 GS300 SE with only 16k on the clock. The drive is smooth and feels like you are sitting in a plane. When you drive this car, you only cruise in the left lane, I used to put my foot down on the IS but this car gives you a whole new feeling. After drivingboth types of cars, GS is the one. Plus everyone at work thinks I own the company. :) Ume.
  2. i try to keep away from supermarket fuel, esso or shell does it for me. Seems to be watered down to me like a pint of fosters at yates.. :) i noticed the difference between supermarket fuel and ones from main dealers many years ago, when i had my toyota corrolla 92 model and avensis 98 model, supermarket fuel burnt out quicker rather then from esso or shell as it would last much longer and engine sounded better... just a thought.
  3. great write up, i must agree with you, the paint work is a great disappointment,:( i would have thought lexus would have done a better job with that for the cost of the car. It marks very easily very poor, :( im not happy with it, lines all over the car, but as you said turns heads plus car is dark blue so cant see anything unless your eye ball is touching the body work. :) i also have had a recent reset of the ECU, as it was programmed wrong out of the factory but now i can tell the difference its smooth sailing. i have only had it for four months and im happy apart from the paintwork, i thought is was only my car but it seems to me that it is with all the is220d models. ume
  4. I don't understand that. Aren't all the new IS's rear wheel drive? (Well except the AWD, but I don't think they do a diesel AWD). yeah the front right wheel had wheel spun, i thought my self that the car was rear wheel drive.
  5. Hi, all I had my Lexus is220d since November 06, however last week i encountered a problem with the car, during leaving my street the front wheel had wheel spun, then the display on dash came up with VSC CHECK, alongside the track-sion light, explanation and starter light coming on. I advised my sister to check the manual, in order to switch off the track-sion as I thought it may be that as I was only limited to 2000 revs at the time, switching off track-sion did not work. I phoned my Lexus dealer and they took it in for checks. After a hour or so, they came and said that there was a ECU problem and the car needed to be booked in on a later date to have a proper look at it as it was save to drive at the time. Once they had a look at it they said that the ECU was programmed wrong before dispatch as the engine was injecting more fuel then normal therefore messing up the values and exhaust, after they fixed the problem the car runs smoother and better like it should, i wasnt mad or unhappy as i knew problem would get sorted, however it should'nt have happend. has anyone else had a similar problem ? ume
  6. hey members i went to pick up my new lexus is220d on the 8th, i must say i was speechless, the drove down the A406, it was the shortest ever drive home, the car is rapid. when i was disappointed about the base model having no heated or electric seats a member told me that, it doesnt matter once the car is drivin i would forget about those things, and i have, no question about it. as george bush would put it ! "make no mistake about it" the lexus is class. i got it in dark blue exterior and black fabric inside, very nice. i will be posting up pic's soon. ume
  7. My new Lexus is coming tomorrow and if it gets effected by the radio waves and wireless routers down my street it will be very embarrassing indeed as i proberly be the only one in wembley to have a new lexus, , i may have to call my friend to tell him to switch off his internet so i switch on my car, 22k car and dont switch on :(, we wait and see.
  8. car giant, I wouldn’t bother buying from them, I went to look at a Jag X-Type i opened the door it smelt of smoke put me right off the jag thanks to car giant, plus as mentioned in one of the post the sales guys are so :tsktsk: dumb. then to my surprise I found out from a very reliable source that car giant don’t even check there cars properly, that’s way they offer the warranty and when it comes into repair they make you wait 3-4 weeks until you get your car back. in my opinion don’t buy from them, I nearly slapped the sales person for being a prick and chatting bare rubbish trying to offer my mum a good deal, i would have givin him his commission from my pocket in cash just to shut him up. well good luck if you do go ahead and buy from car gaint.
  9. Hey, I am a new member was reading through your posts on locking problem, my uncle brought a new Toyota, barely 24 hours he had a unlocking problem outside my house, he said he had no problem in Brixton where he lives, so we called out the RAC as recommend by his Toyota dealer, when the RAC man got to my house he had fixed the problem within 1 minute, he said that its a common problem with the new cars, its the frequency that gets broken because of major interference with radio stations and e.t.c . the RAC man told me that he had to toe a brand new car half a mile down the road because of these black spots and the car worked perfectly well, he advised that the key should be re-programmed to a different frequency by the local dealer, he also mentioned that the alarms go off at random times and also some cars would lock and unlock themselves automatically, very worrying. i think that the Lexus maybe using the same locking system as the Toyota cars, althrough there are the same company you can tell by the window switchs the same in both lexus and toyota. ume
