  1. Thanks for your reply but I'm trying to do some serious fact-finding - if you haven't had direct experience of getting this done to your vehicle, then your view isn't relevant for me
  2. Has anyone had this done on a LS430 ? My vehicle is a 2003 '53' vehicle with 78k miles on the clock It still drives very well but I wasn't sure whether this sort of treatment would be beneficial or not ? It would be great to hear from any other Lexus LS owners who have had this done to their vehicles

  4. I own a 2003 ‘53’ facelift LS430 in dark grey with a black leather interior and 78k miles on the clock

    Wanted LS430

I own a 2003 ‘53’ facelift LS430 in dark grey metallic with black leather and a full set of refurbished alloy wheels with 78k miles on the clock

  7. I was on eBay at the weekend and Lexus GB are offering LS430 Genuine Bootliners for £99.00 - I found it ridiculous that they originally wanted over £200 for these items. Just ordered one and looking forward to adding this to my vehicle. Here's the link for it : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-LS430-Boot-Trunk-Liner-200-2006-PZ434F1302PJ-/252845797799?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item3adec8b1a7:g:sfkAAOSwAANY5PZ-
  8. eBay and some of the breaker yards could result in finding some used genuine alloys - they will probably need some refurbishment though but well worth sourcing I've fitted after-market wheels before but prefer to keep the cars as genuine and as original as possible
  9. I went to get my Air Con re-gassed only to be told that there were some big leaks in the system. Fortunately, my local garage confirmed that the pipes needed replacing and that the condenser and pump seemed to work fine. The pipes cost me £300 in parts alone (the pipe for the rear air conditioning cost £200 alone) and 5 hours of labour later and the car is now back to being ice cold Hope you can get your fault diagnosed and sorted out and back in full working order
  10. The light units are sealed and not really designed to be opened and the standard practice unfortunately is that if any of the LED bulbs stop working is to replace the whole unit I have heard of some owners try to repair these but unless you are very good with electronics and soldering, you probably won't have much joy If new parts prices are too dear, there are going to be used light units in breakers yards. Good luck with your search
  11. Good LS vehicles, especially 400s are becoming so rare now As superb as my LS430 is, the 400 I owned has made an unforgettable impact on me - it was without question the best ever vehicle I have ever owned. It was powerful, smooth, luxurious, deceptively fast, surprisingly good mpg and had reasonable costs too - nothing else could touch it for reliability either
  12. When I sold my LS400 after 13 years and 200k miles of driving, I really missed being a Lexus owner and after a year without one I finally got back into the fold with an LS430 They are awesome cars and it's only when you have owned and run one that you really appreciate them :-)
  13. And I get told that I am a bit crazy owning multiple cars - my neighbours probably think I am a drug-dealing pimp but I don't mind. I never get trouble out of anyone :-)
  14. I was initially quoted £295 for the intermediate service and then they gave me the option of the £199 price instead but said they couldn't stamp the service book but that they would issue a card instead. Bit strange to me. All I am concerned with is making sure the car is serviced correctly and that I have the paperwork to back this up No matter what dealers say about prices being fixed, I think there is always room for negotiation no matter what - they all need the business and owners of older cars are invaluable to these big dealerships as well as their newer customers
  15. I bought my LS430 a few months ago and thought I'd got a bargain until I had some air suspension issues which have cost me a lot to put right The great news now though is that the car drives really well and my entire ownership experience is now proving to be great now :-) I had considered an extended warranty and I'm aware that Lexus are doing one for the LS430 for £1695 for 2 years but I'm hoping the car will now be trouble free for me
  16. I have just had my LS430 serviced by Lexus for £199 which is for a minor / intermediate service - I did discuss the option of a service plan with them but decided to just stick with the service costs as / when they arise. Weirdly, they said that their standard menu for servicing costs for older LS430s are £295 for the small service and £595 for the major service but they could do these same service jobs for £199 and £399 but they are not allowed to stamp the Service book but instead issue a card to confirm the work has been done. In my case today, they did stamp the book
  17. Each time I had to get the cambelt changed on my Mk IV LS400, the job was always quoted at 4 hours labour by both Lexus dealers and other independents / specialists too. I used to get my car serviced by a Lexus dealer anyway including this job too. I have never heard of the job being quoted at more than this.
  18. As much as I like the GS, particularly the GS430 in my opinion once you have driven and LS you cannot go down to a GS LS430 all the way :-)
  19. If I was the (un)lucky owner of this car, I would be paying someone to take the car off my hands !
  20. After selling my LS400 (Mk IV) nearly 2 years ago, I had to get myself back into the fold and this is the kind of marketing material as well as the car itself which finally got me back behind the wheel of an awesome LS and I opted for an amazing LS430 Apart from some of the well known issues with the air suspension and the steering column, the car drives beautifully just like my previous LS400
  21. Very annoying for sure and I was more annoyed with the Audi dealer for not even having the courtesy to apologise for missing this 1st time around and then making me jump through hoops to get the replacement parts But this is a Lexus forum, not an Audi forum so no more on this !
  22. I have seen these light units listed before and it is a subtle and nice improvement When I owned my LS400, I had hoped that there would be an LED rear lighting kit launched by a company instead. Luckily the LS430 has rear LED units
  23. Thanks Malcolm - I have to say my local dealer is very good and the team of mechanics very capable for sure and along with excellent service, their labour rates far more reasonable compared to a Lexus dealership (£50 v £85 per hour plus the VAT) I am planning to keep the car for 2 or 3 years minimum (the mileage is still going to be low for a 15 year old vehicle) so for resale purposes, the car doesn't need to have a full set of Lexus stamps
  24. Agree with Roy particularly about the calipers and hub needing to be cleaned and checked too I would hope that any decent garage / mechanic, whether it be a franchise dealership or an independent would always check that the other surrounding components are in good order I had a nightmare experience with my Audi A8 where the brake discs and pads were replaced at considerable cost and within 3 weeks, I got serious wobbles and shuddering under braking due to a badly corroded hub which caused excessive wear and tear in the replacement parts. Audi did agree to replace the parts under warranty but only on if I paid for new hub They never explained to me why they never picked up on this corrosion before they did the job though !
  25. I've owned my LS430 for a few months now and the car is now due for a service The car is low mileage having only covered 42k miles in 10 years prior to my ownership and the last few service stamps are by an independent dealer. I used to get my LS400 serviced by a Lexus dealer and they gave me a healthy 20% discount off their parts and labour rates as a way to keep my business. I have booked to go in and see them in the New Year to discuss one of their service plans although I have already indicated to them that I have previously dismissed these on the basis of how expensive their quotes have been. I'm in 2 minds about whether to try and negotiate a deal with my dealer again or to just use my local independent garage who is very good it must be said I would be really interested in getting opinions from other LS owners on their servicing regime on their vehicles Thanks in advance
