  1. There were only ever two made. It was a project by a custom tuning company. Its labelled as an SC500 because its been bored out to about 4.8ltr. I was at Kingsclere on Saturday and saw and heard it. Jeeez... it was awesome. The sound was amazing. It looks far better in the flesh than in the photo's as well. The roof takes about 30 seconds to come up (fully automatic) and it looks sweet even with it up. The main thing that got me though was the engine. Supercharged and stoked. It flew up the road with the most gorgious roar.
  2. Guys, does anyone have a wooden gs300 steering wheel for sale? It needs to be with the cruise control stalk and ideally grey. If you can, email me on fightgear@btconnect.com. Muchly appreciated.
  3. It sounds like the antenna is wired up to the ignition on lead. Does the radio work when the ignition is switched off completely? I'd trace the power lead back and see where it wires itself into the radio or the ignition. There should be a wire from the radio to the aerial from the back of the radio.
  4. Funny thing is.... your reply comes up on my browser with the pictures in it! Here are a couple of links to the pictures on the Lexus Soarer Owners Club LSOC Soarer Active Hope this works for you.
  5. I just got my Soarer V8 Active back from the paint shop and it is drop-dead gorgious. It is Panther Black (black with a fine pearl metal flake in gold, silver and a blue = very subtle though). It now has black fittings and a chrome and gold griffin on the front. The rear lights have just been done and look great. Now just need to finish with the bespoke emblems and then its on to getting the interior refitted.
  6. Hi Chips Well I checked with the guys at the Toyota Imports Forum which is probably the premier place for specialist Soarer info and got a fair number of replies.... all of which indicate that although such a beast is possible, its impractical and unheard of. There is even a description of what would be required in doing the job and basically its a rebuild from the ground up and even then all the warning systems would be ringing out like St. Pauls at a Royal wedding! It was muted that your friend may have the 2.5TT GT-T which has the TEMS suspension but not the active. Ehhh.... bet you wish you hadn't mentioned your mate now and there you were being nice! Seriously, no offence intended - I would have been facinated if someone had made that change or if Toyota had actually made one. The 2.5tt is a more powerful car than the V8 but one of the reasons is that it is lighter.
  7. Chips: Thanks for the welcome... THere must be some mistake... the Active was a special edition made only with the V8 engine. Only 850 (~) were made and it is characterised by the four wheel steering and 'Active' suspension (stay flat). This gear alone weighs about 90kg hence it being only available as V8. To my knowledge, no-one has put the 2.5tt engine in an Active as you'd lose any advantage the TT gives. Cheers
  8. Actually, from what I'm told, the 2.5TT is a fair bit faster than the 4.0 V8 in acceleration but i think the top spped is better on the 4.0. That said, the active suspension on the Soarer Active and the four wheel steering means it corners flat meaning more speed. So for acceleration the TT is best (although there are some apparently faster supercharged V8's out there!) - I've heard it called a Skyline/Evo/Impreza eater! Me, I like the way it looks awesome, has technoology that you'd be hard pressed to find in todays best cars, is as luxurious as a sports coupe can get and yepp, it sounds awesome especially in kick-down. Can you guess I like it?

    Hi

Hi there Just joined the forum. I have a 1991 UZZ32 'Active' Soarer. I used to have a gorgious LS400 but always admired the Soarer.... so now I have one! Currently my 32 is in for a paint job before it gets its interior done. I'm down in Hailsham, East Sussex and the car is (or will be!) black.
