  1. I don’t know what to do. Do I get 18 inch wheels.. if so what size tires are standard on the sports versions Refurb my current alloys (17 inch)? Buy some different 17 inch wheels? Where can I get new small centre caps. they are about 50-60mm diameter? Ebay Item number: 140077061331? would these be to narrow?
  2. I have 17" at the MO. Cannot afford 18 and the tires a too expensive!!!! Do Clear Rx300 side repeaters fit straight into Lexus GS300 MK1? If so I am getting a pair as I hate the orange bit inside mine!!!! What wheels size and tyres do you have?? Cheers
  3. Ebay Item number: 120075688064 Would these look good on a MK1 Lexus GS300. They take the same tyres as mine...
  4. Check out this link. Cheers Ian. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FJ6DK0K6
  5. I just checked on my MK1 Gs300 and they have 4 wires.. i think i might buy the ones with the connectors dont fancy have 4 wires spliced!
  6. Honestly folks!!! The connector is just that - it is a plug with a wire coming out!!! - nothing to get too excited over. Just give it a quick clean before plugging it back in... common sense. There is only 1 wire to join - I've used eletrical terminal block (avaliable in B&Q, Wilkinsons, Maplins etc etc for a few pence) and mummified it in insulating tape. This is a perfectly good electrical connection and is perfectly safe and efficient. I paid £33 from the States (inc delivery) for all 3 although I have only fitted 2 as yet because I am not too keen on ripping out my carpet in a search for the rear access panel :duh: Does anyone know exactly where it is before I make too much of a mess? Please check earlier in the thread for the guys ebay name where I bought them. Has it made a difference to the mpg? Well it's early days yet but the signs are good. I have done 120 miles on about £20 of optimax which is just under the magic 25mpg I am looking for. I'll tell better when I brim it next. The fuel guage needle certainly isn't plummetting like it used to But please do the job yourself - unless of course your on Beckhams' wages!! It really is a very simple and easy DIY job which I would imagine is very hard to get wrong. If you can change a 13 amp plug yopu can do this job. if its only one wire I can get the cheaper ones. By the looks of the picture it looked like 4!!! can u PM me the item numbers u bought so i can get the same!!
  7. You do realise the sensors can be ordered from the States at a much cheaper price, and it's a job that you can do at home? All the info can be found in earlier posts in this very thread. Yeah I saw on this forum. I was just amazed at how much Lexus was charging. If the ECU reset doesnt work I will order them. I am not sure what to get. Do i spend about £100 plus P and P and get the sensors with the correct connectors, or do I spend £45 plus p and p and get the univesal sensors?? Is the save of £45 a false economy as I would be splicing the sensors to the old connector
  8. How good is everyone’s Central Locking Remote. I just had my battery changed but the range is really poor and temperamental. I can press lock pointing straight at the car and nothing happens, and other times i can lock it from my pocket. Any ideas on how to improve this?? cheers
  9. How do I reset the ECU. The Lexus Garage advsied me to disconnect to battery for 1/2 hour. Is there another easier way? How long do I need to disconnect it for. Is it aprox 1/2 or at least etc cheers
  10. Does anyone have any idea if the bulbs the light up the dash are accessable? and what kind of bulbs they are
  11. I Just spoke to the Lexus Garage. The sensors cost £141.15 for the front and £185.73 for the back!!!! Plus 1 and 1/2 hours labour. The guy advised me to first disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour. The GS300 has a self learning ECU. Thus if you bought yours second hand, and the last driver was a slow lane driver, the ecu could do with a reset and thus the 1/2 battery disconnect. I'm gonna try that first. If this doesnt work I will have to order the sensors.
  12. I have a 1997 MK1 Lexus GS300. I got 19 miles to the Gal on last fill up :-( about 280 to the tank. I think i have the o2 sensor problem, however, i need some advice. Do I buy universal sensors and splice them in? Or spend a bit more and get the ones with the correct clips... Also how do I test/clean the existing sensors.... a blow torch???? Can someone tell me what to look for to find the sensors. cheers :-)
  13. Has anyone installed universal Angel eyes in a MK1 GS300. I thought it might look quite good around the main beam eye. Any thoughts?
  14. I think people are getting confused. I mean the bulbs that light up the instrument panel, not the front headlights. Can those bulbs be replaced. I know i might have to take out the instrument panel, but does anyone know what kind of bulbs they are? aside: where do I get HID conv kit from and how ££££
  15. I have a Lexus GS300 MK1. 2 things: 1) I have noticed that the instrument lights are always on. Is this correct? 2) The lights seem a little yellow dirty, I have seen on other cars (merc) they have a crisp white colour shining through. I was planning on changing the bulbs to LED bulbs, however, not sure if can get to the bulbs easily and I do not know what kind of bulbs they are. Also will the dimmer work? or effect them... Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers Kryz
