  1. Very looooooooong! You will need the biggest tub of pocorn and nachos to keep you going. Good effects and acting. Story line a little blurred and I found quite a few scenes could have been chopped without having much effect on the storyline. The visual effects keep you from falling asleep.
  2. This isnt a massive amount. Around 14mm difference in radius, bearing in mind there is a difference of 5mm with new tyres compared to tyres that are still within their legal limit. Speed cameras allow for ~10% over the limit, hence 5% on your speedo would be fine, presuming your speedo isnt already out.
  3. Rear wheels (including tyres) will have a 4.1% larger circumference and front wheels (including tyres) will have a 1.4% larger circumference. i.e you will be travelling ~ 5% faster than what your speedo shows. So the MK2 IS front wheels are bigger than the mk1 IS rear wheels . I remember my cousins M3 having rear wheels around 245/40 17. Wonder if the IS actually needs the width, as thats increasing rolling resistance a fair bit. Must be better for handling and braking as larger surface in contact with road, although wonder how they would react to potholes etc
  4. Nice pics, am currently deciding which camera to go for, cant decide if I want a full on SLR or fixed lens. As Iceman mentions get that missing numberplate reported. Have heard of lots of numberplates being stolen and put on cloned cars, speeding/parking tickets, congestion charge being sent to registered owner, who is oblivious to whats going on. If you have it reported to the police then you have a greater chance of avoiding fines if they appear.
  5. I think it depends alot on the company and experience of staff (sales person ad admiral put on a 5 car multicar policy discount on even though just had the two cars, He just said if in the near future if you happen to buy three more cars promise youll insure them with us). Most work on comission so want to sell you the policy and will do their best to get a sale. I never accept my renewal price and always say ive been offered cheaper elsewhere and they usually lower it by around 20%. Then just play the companies off against eachother, they usually ring you back a few days later askign why you havent taken the policy out, if you say you found cheaper, I find they lower it even more.
  6. Bought the Lexus at 21 years old, 1 years NCB, license since 17 cost £600 fully comp garaged in Oxford with Admiral. Everyone else was asking £1500+ Insurance is due at end of month, now 22, have 2 years no claims Admiral quoted £547, More than quoted £557 with breakdown cover. But 'Insure your motor' quoted me £473. I have never heard of them though so not sure how I will be dealt with if I ever have a problem. Anyone had any experience with them? If you shop around you can find yourself a bargain. When phoning around I was still getting silly quotes of £2000+ from some companies. If anyone needs motorcycle insurance I found Ebikes to be by far the cheapest.
  7. I also have a slight problem with this. Not majorly loud but can be heard. Biggest problem is I can feel the wind through the electric window buttons. The air must be finding its way through. This is the case on all four doors. Its like I have extra air vents in the doors :)
  8. Can someone please point me in the right direction of the outside temperature sensor? Or does anyone have a part number/price? I hav been shown a false reading ever since I bought the car, and seeing as summers almost here :D would be nice to see how hot it is outside, when I have the climate control set at 18 degrees :) thx in advance
  9. I thought the exact same thing and told a friend, they just thought I was being anti-mercedes. I do think it is an awesome car though, wouldnt mind owning one.
  10. Just wondered, does anyone know how they calculate power back to the flywheel? Do they estimate losses through transmission etc? Not sure how accurate a quote would be at flywheel. thx p.s Do you have a dynochart you could post up as would be interesting to see the curves. I used to own a remapped Golf 1.8T and that had 195bhp and 210 ft lb of torque, so pretty similar figures, but the curves must be totally different.
  11. Huge thanks to fluff34567 for helping me locate the MAP sensor. I also used a voltmeter to test the sensor. I received readings of around 12v with ignition on then upto 13v with engine turned on. Was wondering if anyone knew if it is within the correct parameters? Also rang up Lexus Cardiff AND Lexus Oxford, both denied all knowledge of a MAP sensor existing for an IS200. They could only find one for the IS300. I was under the assumption the IS300 used a MAF? Anyway they told me the IS200 did not have a MAF or a MAP and needed either a part number or the name under which it may be stored under the computer, for me to obtain a price. So if anyone knows these it would be of great halp thanks. Seems an impossible task of getting the sensor out and I dont want to take it out until I have the new one to replace it as my car will be off the road then. ta
  12. Thankyou for the reply. Have ordered won a manual from ebay so waiting for that to arrive. I was told it is most likely to be lambda/o2 sensor. I have done a search online and am I right in thinking there are three of these on the Is200? So have to figure out which one it is and where they all are.
  13. Hiya, I have a Lexus IS200 Navigator SE, manual 1999 My car decided to go into limp/safety mode yesterday. Engine light constantly stays on and the traction control light is constantly turning on and off. Now only revs to 3000rpm before limiter kicks in. Although works just fine upto this point. Have a friend who has a garage and has diagnostic software. Had the car plugged in and the following error code was reported: P0105 Manifold absolute pressure barometric pressure circuit malfunction. Am guessing one of the pressure sensors have had its day. My friend mentioned it was the inlet manifold but I am not 100% sure how he came to this conclusion, as it did not say this on the print out. Tried locating the sensors but havent had much luck and I dont have a manual. Am currently searching for a CD version on ebay. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem, or knows what maybe wrong, which sensor? etc. Dont want to pay dealer fees unless its a last resort. Any help much appreciated, thankyou.
  14. Heya Had my Lexus IS200 MOT last week and it failed on front two lower ball joints and rear two radius arms having excessive play in pin/bearings??? MOT was done at a kwik fit garage (about half an hour away because I had a half price voucher and this was the only Kwik fit close by that did MOTs), I can see the ball joints need replacing and went into lexus to order bushes for the radius arm and there were so many to choose from, so I took it to my local Kwik fit and asked them to confirm which ones I would need. They checked and said they all seemed fine. They were very friendly and even took the car to an MOT dealer close by who did MOTS and even he had trouble deciding which ones needed replacing. The guys also phone up the guy who did my MOT but he wasnt of much help. In the end we decided the radius arm was worse off but lexus dont sell individual bushes for these I had to order the whole part wich bush built in. part number 48710A and 48720A for right and left one. They cost around £100 each!!! just wondered if anyone else had this problem on their car? If so is there anywhere I can just buy the bush? I can get it pressed in if need be. Is it common or has the MOT tester just been mistaken? as a few other mechanics have checked it out and cant see the problem. Even though he has failed it due to these. I would have thought maybe he would have just put them on an advisory notice. thx Nadeem
