  1. i've only got an IS200 auto but but dealer said something about the ECT PWR button sharpening up the throttle response is this true or am i talking c**p!
  2. actually, now that you mention it, when i bought my car, he said that i would get some touch-up paint and that it would even be delivered to my house but i never heard anything of it since :(
  3. the only things i dislike about the lexus is that some things are slightly dated no memory for electric seats no stereo controls on steering wheel doors that lock automatically basically some things that you take for granted in the newer cars but the IS more than makes up for what are simply little niggles which volvo are you considering? i was actually considering the S60 before the lexus and only chose the lexus cos the volvo's got almost no room in the back. Otherwise the volvo's easily the best looking 4 door saloon on the road (with the IS a close second :D ) and the premium 13 speaker stereo in the volvo is breathtaking (the dynaudio speakers will set you back a few grand itself!) but the lexus has much better handling and ride quality. the volvo is rolls a lot and has quite a harsh ride too not sure if its a concern but the IS has very low insurance compared to every other car in this bracket
  4. no way on the 3 series compact, its just a flash VW Golf :P If you want a BMW, consider the saloon or even the 3 series estate if you need the practicality but not the compact. It looks awful, proportions are all wrong, especially that high vauxhall astra rear end i'd definitely go with the IS though, much, much more standard kit no steering wheel stereo controls, but the steering mounted gear shift should make up for it, don't really need the stereo controls because there are big chunky buttons which are easy to find without looking also, definitely get parking sensors, they are a *** send don't get me started on women drivers too, the other day i was parked on the side of the road waiting for someone when this woman in a focus was trying to park behind me and just drove straight into the back of me Then when i got out she asked ME what the problem was!
  5. i've got an 02 and it doesnt open at all does anyone know why and what they changed from the 99 car so it doesnt open anymore? mine's started creaking now too so i definitely gotta take it back so it would be nice to know what makes it open all the way so i can have that done too
  6. to all the dealers out there why is lexus doin this? :( special editions are reserved for the, lets say, compromised brands, e.g. no names, you know who i'm talking about :D if its about removing final stock, there's only one per dealer, so it obviously isnt that also new IS is still a way off isnt it?
  7. i agree with whoever said earlier i like the yellow but never been a fan of the sport styling kit still doesnt look good
  8. is there any way to put hydraulics on it like (dare i say it) on bmws
  9. well it seems that all the new cars (after they made the modifications - locking system, stereo) dont open and all the old ones do gonna have a word to my dealer and get this sorted if he tries anything, i'll make him open all the boots on all the IS's in the dealership
  10. i find this all very interesting this is because i don't have a spoiler, and it still doesn't open. i found that spraying WD40 on all the moving bits made it lift up to half way but after a few months its stopped doing it again. can't really be bothered to do it again. however, on my test drive, i drove a 99 V reg and its boot opened fully with a press of a button. i pointed this out to my dealer who said that they aren't meant to open, if it does you're lucky was he playin wit me?
  11. yeah i remember picking mine up too... well, rather, starin out the front window waiting for the car to pull up in the drive (it was delivered), great memories glad to hear how much you wash your cars, i try to wash once a week and the other day my neighbour said i wash my car too much!
  12. i asked my lexus dealer about this very same thing when i bought my car and he said to call them first about what you want to have done and then they'll tell you where to go have it done. he said if you do this, then it wouldn't affect warranty hope this helps
  13. nah i still think the best bumper i seen so far is the lsportline bumper lsportline its racy while still maintaining the class that a lexus should have (don't need to go all subaru impreza) this should have been the lexus styling kit cos that was a bit disappointing :(
  14. ok, i'll probably just go ahead with them then, can't be bothered to ring around and as lexus use them i assume they must do a good job. did you say £600 of damage from opening a door onto your car? she must have been more than just big! what was she doing anyway that required that much force? maybe she saw an ice-cream truck gettin away!!
  15. not sure if anyone remembers but a while back my passenger door got blown on to the next car and bent in the edge of the door been really busy but finally called dentwizard today (as recommended by Lexus Edgware Road) anyway, he says job will cost £85+VAT. is this reasonable? i do not have a clue about this stuff so didn't know what to expect. he says though that if he finishes the job in half an hour, he'll reduce the rate to £50+VAT. what do you guys think? has anyone had this sort of dent repair done? i'll try and get a photo on to show the extent of the damage
  16. you're absolutely right warning light comes on when ANY of the rear lights fail :P
  17. its gotta be the lexus the civic may be quicker, but loses out on everything else looks, luxury, equipment - list is endless the question is, do you really want to drive around in a mini-mpv like sports hatch??? when you could have a lexus! :D
  18. sorry to hear of your disappointment with lexus :( be careful with the saab 9-3 though, i hear its a vauxhall vectra underneath!!
  19. thanks for all the replies, that's brilliant i don't think i could go back to the old bucket and sponge :P
  20. i read on is300.net about one guy who's paint came off when he used one of those pressure washers at petrol stations. Can this really happen? I use my own pressure washer on mine, never caused any damage that i know of but i assume those ones are much more powerful than the ones you buy in halfords. but still, i can't believe that a pressure washer can strip the paint off a car! would this happen on any car or just lexus'
  21. yeah thats ok if that is the case, is there anyway to add bass without tampering too much with the standard setup? I'm very happy with the quality of the sound, and the volume, just not enough bass. can a sub be added to the system as it is??
  22. i know you guys have discussed this before, but been readin up and want to know if this PBA-N1 thingy that splits the signal to screen available in the UK or only from the USA? If not, is there anything similar available over here? also has anyone over here actually done this? does it work ok on the IS monitor?
  23. do you know whether they changed anything else about the sound system (speakers, amplifier, etc) or was it just the headunit? could that make that much difference? also, was the overall sound quality better on the older cars or was it just more bass?
  24. how old is your IS? i got an '02' and there just aint enough! i've heard though that the ones with the old stereo get a lot more bass
