  1. Nope only the SE-L has radar cruise (up to 07, beyond that it was an option). Not really sure on the others, think the Mark Levinson audio is only on the SE-L as well?
  2. Swap them for LED, will match the HIDs much better.
  3. Corrosion on the connectors? Not sure if it's the problem but happened to one of our other cars (non-Lexus) so could be a possibility.
  4. I would guess late 2012 or early 2013 based on the launch of the current model in relation to the current GS.
  5. If the car is that bad it simply cannot be the tyres, and if there's play in the wheels doesn't sound wise to use the car for the time being. Sorry don't really know what could be wrong but hope you get it sorted easily. Sounds a lot like the wheels aren't pointing in the right direction though - although what you were saying about accelerating and lifting off was interesting, do you know if you've got power going to both rear wheels?
  6. Try someone like Chipsaway, could end up being cheaper, if it works it works, if it doesn't then you haven't spent that much and can go for the full respray.
  7. Try changing the battery first if you haven't done so recently, that could be the problem even if the little red light comes on when you press the button.
  8. Also drove one of these recently at the open road and it was a real surprise - by far the most serene and peaceful car I've ever been in (and that includes a Rolls Phantom). As above not sure we have many (if any) 600h owners on here but I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the new car :) How's the Maserati btw? Are they expensive cars to run?
  9. Have you tried the joystick thing? I thought the same when I saw it but then used it and found it brilliant! It's so intuitive and because it gives you feedback it's really easy to jump around the screen. The only part I didn't like was the lack of coherence between what you did with the joystick and what you did with the physical buttons, but the actual joystick part was very good.
  10. Wow that does seem like some pretty poor service there, to be honest with that kind of behaviour I'd be a bit nervous about sending the car there at all! Could be worth escalating to Lexus GB - probably won't be of too much use to you personally but might at least make them keep an eye on them.
  11. May be wrong on this but as far as I know the standard system on the IS is Pioneer - by no means a bad system but not really in the same league as the HK/B&O/etc systems available in the competitors (and obviously the ML system that they already offer, not even sure I understand how it reduces costs to remove a system that is already developed, still going into other cars on the production line, and you are charging the consumer extra for)
  12. Awesome, quite jealous, Spa is one of my favourite circuits and would love to go at some point! Let us know how it is live and show us some pics if you take any :)
  13. Spoke to a dealer today and apparently the latest models had this option omitted to save cost. So you can now only specify the full navigation with the HDD but no Mark Levinson! Makes no sense! That is insane, how a high end luxury car can not have a premium audio option is ridiculous. It's probably as the IS is nearing the end of its life, but the run out models should be loaded with more stuff not have stuff taken away!
  14. Probably just me but when cruising I prefer to drop gears manually - don't do it all the time, just in examples like changing lanes on the motorway etc. Like I said it would always be in 6 to work as an auto 99% of the time, but it's a pain to move the lever over on occasion you want to do it manually. Have just got used to doing it in the Merc, but that is like the newer ISs in that you don't have to select a manual mode first. That's not what the OP was asking at all - my understanding was that the OP was asking why the paddles didn't always do anything, I provided an explanation that the gearbox won't always be in the gear that's displayed on the dash (which is true) so don't think it was that confusing :)
  15. Sorry if it was misleading but what I meant was that if you stick it in manual and 6th it still behaves as normal, but you can use the paddles if you need to downshift (without having to first flick the gear lever over) This isn't required with the later car (from 09 or so onwards) as you can use the paddles in D. As far as I know the IS250 even now doesn't have a "proper" manual override for the auto box.
  16. True, it's not like that in the IS-F, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's been in every courtesy IS250 I've had (which is quite a few now!) I used to stick it in manual and 6th and then drive it like a normal auto, it changes around as normal but allows you to use the paddles when you need them (obviously that wasn't required after they made the paddles work in D in the later cars)
  17. I hope that's an error, would be a crazy decision on Lexus' part if true.
  18. Is this when going up the box or coming down? Remember that it's not a full manual mode, if you have 5 on the dash, it doesn't mean you are in 5th gear, it just means the gearbox will use the first 5 gears but not 6th. Similarly if you have it on 3 it will use the first three gears but no more. Therefore if you have it on 5 but are driving at low speed, the gearbox may actually still be in a lower gear until it decides 5th gear is appropriate. However if it's simply a case of the paddles doing nothing at all, you need to get that checked out :)
  19. Must admit those press pics look much better than the ones from yesterday (but I suppose they would). The back to me still looks absolutely horrible, but the rest does look pretty good, especially that pic from the front three-quarter which actually looks really good. The interior is a bit BMW but not quite as bad thankfully. Doesn't seem particularly luxurious though, I have a feeling that with black leather that would look quite dreary. I get a strong hint that Lexus have sat down with a BMW 5 series and just tweaked it, which is disappointing but if they've made it drive as well then it could have been a worthwhile exercise.
  20. That's interesting, in that case perhaps there could be reason for a minor tax cut but prices are at such a level now that I still couldn't see it happening as it's unlikely to stimulate a surge in fuel purchase. And yes the comparison with other parts of europe means there's no real pressure to drop the price anyway. But why is traffic as bad as ever if people aren't buying the fuel to be on the road!! :P
  21. I've got nitrogen in my tyres but don't really pay enough attention to the pressures to see if it's making a real difference. But the reasoning as above is sound, with no pressure fluctuations with temperature the tyre is always kept at it's optimum inflation. This should aid even tyre wear and keep fuel economy constant. Wouldn't pay extra for it but I'd rather have it than not if it's not costing me anything :)
  22. We aren't going to get any cuts in tax on fuel in the near future, the money just isn't there........ The only thing that could cause a change would be if people stopped using their cars leading to a decrease in tax revenue - then they'd cut tax as overall it would bring more money in (similar logic to the plans to remove the 50% tax on high earners) But looking at traffic levels doesn't look like that is happening......
  23. Wow that's a shocking bit of stupidity! It looks a bit like she thought she knew best though, unless she has really poor eyesight that wet concrete would have been really obvious, clearly thought her 2 ton car would float over it with no problems. What a moron.......
  24. I don't think we'll be getting anything other than a hybrid, so unless they'll be creating an GS600h I doubt there will be an AWD model. Wonder why Lexus don't mix the engines around the range more like other manufacturers, surely it can't have that much of an impact on costs? I would've thought a GS250 or an LS350/LS450h (you get the idea) wouldn't have that much of a development cost but are likely better sellers than the currently limited range.
