  1. I've got to second that. I went to see Chris on Saturday and he did a fantastic job on my aircon LCD and my speedo needle. Highly recommended!!
  2. Even better is the wheels only cost £100 and then £400 for four new Goodyear eagle F1's.
  3. Thanks for that info. My 1991 LS400's drivers door lock doesnt lock the central locking, so I now know just where to look.
  4. Thanks. I like them because they look like factory wheels rather than aftermarket wheels (well they are, just from a Mazda factory!). Also they are a direct fit with the same PCD and offset as the standard 15" wheels. No clearence issues at all either.
  5. Well I got them shod with Goodyear Eagle F1's, (225/40/18) fitted today and the wheels fitted to the car. I've got no clearance issues at all. The PCD is clearly the same, but so is the offset of both the standard wheels and the RX8 wheels both being ET+50. The ride quality still very good and steering feedback and grip is alot better. Here's a picture I took on my phone (I didnt have my good camera with me!)
  6. Indeed. I tried one a few years ago on the Mazda MX-3 1.8 V6 24valve I had at the time. The ONLY thing it did was make a farting noise on overrun :duh: u hadnt got it set up right then!!! u needed to read the instructions to fit!! if it made that noise then u needed to adjust it!!! there ment to get rid of flat spots and smoothen acceleration and increase mpg. i noticed it a little when i had mine fitted to my mondeo but dont expect too much from them. it isnt no turbo!!! It was setup perfectly, I even watched the video on thier website and everything. It made no difference to the way the car drove though. but im sure it says . wait till you hear that noise then wind it back in a few notches till u cant hear it anymore!! at least thats what my instructions said!! Yeah that was basically it. Just wind it back until it stops making the noise on idle. When you then blip the throttle it should be silent as the revs rise and the make a farting noise as the revs drop to idle. It still sont make ANY DIFFERENCE! The theory is sound if it's used on an old engine (pre 1970), however on a modern car it's not going to make the blindest bit of difference.
  7. I cant see that being an issue at all. The RX8 weighs 1380kg. I cant see a fully loaded RX8 with four adults is going to be anywhere near the safe weight limit of the wheels.
  8. I bought some Mazda RX-8 wheels today without tyres. I trial fitted one to both the front and the rear. Looks like there will be no problems on the back at all. On the front, the inner edge of the rim is about 10mm from the suspension strut, and it looks like there will be enough room once the tyre is on. I cant see anywhere they are likely to rub, but has anyone fitted RX-8 wheels to a LS before?

  11. I drove down to see Chris Vince today to have my Aircon LCD panel replaced and the speedo needle repaired today. I cant recommend Chris enough. He removed both the Aircon dash unit and the instrument cluster, repaird both and refitted them in under two hours while my wife and I went shopping and for a coffee. The result is fantastic! My aircon LCD panel was totaly black, it's now perfect and as good as new. The tip half of my speedo needle didn't light up, which made checking my speed more than a very quick glance. Now it's also perfect, and like new (this is NOT the fishing rod paint repair). All repaired at a very reasonable cost too. Thanks Chris! Chris's email is chrisvince@btopenworld.com
  12. Has anyone for any more info or a link to how to check these. Both seem to be a possible cause.
  13. I had thought that may be worth a try (it does look a little thin). Is there an recommended way to drain the old fluid and refill?
  14. I've just been out and tried the powersteering. Above 1000rpm it's fine. Below 1000rpm it starts to get heavier and at a warm idle of around 650rpm it's very similar to trying to turn the wheel with the engine switched off. The fluid level is fine so I guess I need a new PAS pump :tsktsk:
  15. A bit of an odd one this. The power steering on my 1991 LS400 is fine when I first start the car from cold and fine all the time over about 3mph. But once the engine had got a little bit of warmth in it the powersteering is VERY heavy if the car is stationary. Once moving though, even only at walking pase, it's really light. I'm thinking this is due the revs of the engine at idle being too low (the engine idles perfectly though). Maybe my PAS pump is on it's way out? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  16. Thanks chips. I'm wondering if the switches in the drivers door and the passengers door are the same and I could just 'move' the problem to the passengers door;)
  17. The drivers door lock on my 1991 MKI LS400 doesn't lock the central locking. It will unlock the whole car and lock just the drivers door, but it wont lock the central locking system. I'm guessing this is a switch inside the drivers door. I've taken the door panel off but cant see where the switches are and all the connecters are firmly attached. Any ideas?
  18. Hi, I'm looking to buy a 1991 LS400 and my insurance company wants to know the make and model of the security system fitted. As far as I know the car I'm looking at has only got what was fitted by Lexus in the factory. Does anyone know what if any alarm or immobliser was factory fitted? Thank in advance.
