Ooh insults, I'm not the idiot who doesn't know when brakes need changing and nor am I the one contemplating letting KwikFit work on my car. Anymore? Because I think I gota whole lot to contribute.

I'm not the one asking if I can trust KwikFit to work on my vehicle - something someone said about a 'fool' and 'money' and 'being parted' comes to mind.

eBay most certainly, this Forum and even a large breakers yard. Dealer will be £££ and you will be best advised to go through Insurance.

A reason why wouldn't run one of these without a Lexus Extended Warranty - I couldn't cope with paying for bills like this on mine.

The fact you have doubts suggests that you do not believe what they are telling you. Do you then trust them to work competently and correctly on your car?

Threads like this make me chuckle - I want to buy a complex hybrid vehicle chock full of wazzy gizmos and cutting edge technology but I don't want t pay £500 for a service cause I want to save £200. Your 400h is not like any ordinary car - it needs proper care and maintenance to ensure proper operation. Do you honestly believe that monkeys like KwikFit can service this vehicle properly and correctly in respect of the correct operation of the Hybrid system? For me it beggars belief that people will spend £20k on a car but will look to using KwikFit (and the like) to maintain it. And when it goes *BANG* will scream to high heaven and blame Lexus for their poorly built cars.

Air suspension work is Lexus only methinks...and you wont get away with doing just one side, you'll need to to do both to ensure stability.

I'm sure that means you need a new unit; not sure if its a simple case of finding one at a Breakers yard and swapping out the device or if it needs something fancy. But Error 4 means its U/S.

That'll be one of the characteristics of the Hybrid vehicle, sounds about normal to me. They suffer from horrible torque steer in my experience, jsut eb a little easy on the happy pedal and it should be OK.

Why? You do realise that the RX is a petrol injection engine right (i.e. no turbo) ;)

Air suspension can be very difficult to put right, especially through Lexus (think around £2k). I'm sure a couple of threads have been posted on here about the issues and costs ;)

I'll second (and third and fourth if necessary) how good the Lexus Warranty is. Yup its pricey, but it pays out no doubt without hassle/issue. Remember, stuff like your chromatic (auto dimming) wing mirrors will also be covered and if one should stop working, then you simply do not replace the mirror glass itself but the entire unit, which comes unpainted - I have posted on here my warranty claims (of which this was one) and how Lexus Warranty paid out without quibble. I would not be without Lexus' warranty when running a vehicle like this. I challenge ANY Third Party Warranty company to cover such a claim. Think very carefully before you decide to ditch it for the cost. The product is solid.

This is something that crops up quite regularly, usually on vehicles that are 5YRS/60K miles. Usually one will need doing, so best to get both done. And AFAIK the cables are a Lexus only part. And it can cost couple of hundred quid to sort out (each side). Our RX was under Lexus Warranty so it paid for itself. If you search the forum for my posts, you will get a more detailed breakdown when ours had the work done :)

My basis is my experince having lived out there (and do so currently albeit less so as I flit between UK/US) that 'out there' you buy the rubber inserts as a matter of routine and course. Almost every manufacturer provides rubber inserts. Should you want to buy the entire assembly, you get stared at like you had asked for something bizarre. By comparison, pop into your local Ford/Toyota/Honda Dealer in the UK and ask them for the rubber inserts only - I bet that sends them scratching around looking for the part # and cost (if indeed you can buy jsut the rubber inserts) - as opposed to you walking in and asking for the entire assembly. My comment was not meant disparingly, but rather more as an observation of how replacing wiper rubber can differ between the two markets. I find it much easier to replace the entire assembly rather than fiddle with the rubber.

I never understood the 'replacing of the rubber insert alone' argument (other than from a cost POV) because its so fiddly and if you get it wrong, can tear/damage the insert. With the actual blade itself subject the same wear and tear as the rubber itself, surely you'd want to replace the entire wiper blade to ensure good surface contact and quiet, smooth sweep? Each to their own though - this rubber insert swapping seems to be an American thing ...

You are an absolute lunatic, defying conventional wisdom and the collective experience of fellow Users on this forum. Just because something is not illegal, does not mean that it is in some way acceptable/OK/safe. Why do we have to legislate for every imbecile who uses the same argument as you (IE: if its not illegal I can do it)? Like you would not mix runflat and non-runflat tyres, you should not mix snow/non-snow tyres. If you are in any doubt, speak with your Insurance Company.

Wouldn't agree with that in general, as you need a driver for technology and market to meet said demand. They said vehicles like the Lexus Hybrids would never come to be - but they did. So, the new barrier is the benchmark and there are plenty of traditional engined vehicles that meet the requirement - yes you have to compromise on the size of the vehicle, but it is do-able :)

Well servicing outside of the network will mean you still have a 'full service history' - not a full Lexus Service History.

Can't imagine the 'B' offers any great assistance in such conditions - still its better than nothing!

I found the Continental tyres to be the best for grip and handling [in Summer conditions] and they come OE fit to the Cayenne. No doubt useless in the snow and weather we are having currently, but thats we have snow tyres ;) Love the Contis - hated the Crapstones and Dunlops.

Its to do with the Bluetooth hardware Lexus use rather than Apple ;) Remember the RX is a legacy vehicle, you are using modern technology with old tech. - so you are bound to get a degree of incompatibility.

Only warranty worth having is the Lexus one. Anything else and you leave yourself open to the 'small print' clauses come claim time, however my concern is that you have a warranty that covers only 'part' of your car - WTF is that all about? :) Imagine at claim time the massive get out clause they have: Sorry Sir, but that fault has to do with the Hybrid system and therefore is not covered. Now the onus is on you to prove the fault and that it is not related to the hybrid system. Throughout your car is still broken, you need it fixing but can't get it fixed and who do you go to to prove them wrong? C'mon man, you've read the experiences people have had with such companies and you still went with them? The fact you were cold called should have sent alarm bells ringing as well as the fact you can't find much on this company - coincidence?
