  1. Noreen, Did the place that sold you the battery test it before they handed it over to you? It's not unknown for a brand new battery to be a dud and it is always a good idea to get them to put the tester on it before you leave the shop. The guys behind the counter are always happy to do this as they know that the battery is good when it leaves the shop therefore preventing a comeback.
  2. If all you want is the induction baaaaaaaaaaaaappppppp then I wouldn't waste a lot of time and money on an induction kit. Get yourself down to screwfix and get yourself one of these. http://www.screwfix.com/p/disston-grit-edged-holesaw-25mm/10434 25mm is big enough. Bore a few holes on the left side of the filter and it will give you the induction sound you want.
  3. It is most likely a spill when the oil has been topped up. The filler cap is right above it. Clean in off with some degreaser and keep an eye on it.
  4. Sorry to jump in on this thread but I just seen this photo. Petay: That bubble is caused by water under the paint. The water is under the paint in that area as the sill has rotted from the inside out and there is a pinhole rust hole letting the water through. Sorry to be the giver of bad news but if you are looking to keep the car then this needs to be a high priority. What you need is the sill area cut out and replaced. Most likely the inner wings are rotted on the inside too. I know this because mine is exactly the same.
  5. Thick Fit are not to be trusted in my experience. I had a puncture a few years ago and filled it with tyre weld and called into Kwik Fit to get the puncture fixed. The manager told me that tyres that have been filled with tyre weld are scrap and cannot be puncture repaired. I said that was bull****. He then told me the tyre I had was below the legal limit and I wasn't permitted to leave as he would call the police to inform them. I asked him to check the tyre to which he refused as "he knew to look that it was illegal". When I pointed out that it was still a good 1-2mm above the wear bar on the tyre he went very quiet and wandered off back inside. Only I had the knowledge about cars was I able to see through the blatant lies I was being told, the problem is there are many who walk through their doors not knowing and trusting what they and are being fleeced by these crooks.
  6. Pull the fuel flap release lever up as high as it will go. get your wallet, phone whatever underneath it to hold it open. Go to the fuel flap and you should be able to pry it open. What most likely has happened is this spring has fell out and the door wont spring open.
  7. Dunno but I always make sure I've a bit of super in the tank and the catalytic converter is roasting hot before the MOT. If a cat is not at full working temperature it will not do it's job right and could give funny readings on emissions tests.
  8. It looks to be the wrong pulley, it should be a simple fit and it shouldn't be as dished as the one you are trying to fit. The pulley is 130mm. I see you are getting some decent help on the Orange Juice Club. I found them to me a much better resource for supercharger information. The lads were a great help when I done mine.
  9. I know this is gonna sound like a really stupid question but did you remove the cover off the front of the water pump pulley before attaching the new pulley to it? Sorry for asking but that is the only thing that could possibly present a problem if the parts are correct. I suspect you may have the wrong part.
  10. This is the best I can do for you photo wise. Have a look at the official fitting guide, step 15 onwards. http://users.telenet.be/francis.braekeleire/lexus/documents/steps_to_compressor.pdf
  11. I have all the original TTE documents of the full parts list for the supercharger kit, bolt list, fitting guide, wiring guide for the black boxes. If anyone wants these PM me and I'll send you the link. They're all PDF files. It seems that the LOC dont like the Orange Juice Club for some reason. Whatever the reason I don't care but all that happens is that they are denying members help that they are asking for. **Edit **** that. Here you go. http://www.**********club.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=11497
  12. If its just glued on with window bond presumably then a bit of fishing line will cut through it.
  13. Sorry to hear that it is a copy. I did notice that the TTE emblem was replaced by a Sport one and the part number was a digit out against the number listed on the TTE catalogue. I guess that bumper has just been sold on as a genuine part so you probably are not alone in getting your fingers burnt. Contact Ebay and Paypal as it is a counterfeit item.
  14. You've done all the cheap and easy fixes and nothing has really made much difference and the fact the engine has been seriously neglected and has significant wear would make me consider as to weather it is worth spending any more money on it. The fact is that engine may rattle and puff smoke for another 100k or it may break tomorrow.
  15. There is, well used to be when I was young, a way round paying high premiums for a decent car at a young age. What you need is an understanding parent or someone very much older than you that can get a cheap policy on the Lexus. Then they register and insure the Lexus in their name and you buy, register and insure a low insurance group banger, something like one litre Corsa. Take out an insurance policy that enables you to drive other cars and you will be have third party only insurance to drive the Lexus. Fully legal and above board. Now, that's how we done it quite a few years ago so the insurers may have moved the goalposts but it's worth looking into.
