  1. i got access to all data, this is one of a recalls for early lexus ls400s. nelow is how to fix. good luck ++++++ 90lexus02 BODY 004 02-09-90 LS400 Title GLOVE BOX DOOR CHECK-ARM RATTLE CONDITION: A rattle or squeak noise from the glove box door area may be apparent when the glove box door is closed and/or the vehicle is driven over rough roads. This condition may be caused by the movement of the glove box door check-arm against the glove box door and/or the checkarm through hole in the dash REPAIR (INSTALLATION) PROCEDURE: To reduce the possibility of the check-arms rattling or squeaking, (1) Glue a small piece of felt to each edge of the through holes and (2) Place a felt washer on the check-arm pivots at the side of the glove box door--(See illustrations below for more details). PRODUCTION EFFECTIVE: From the end of October, 1989 From approximate VIN # JT8UF11E-L0010276 +++++++++++++++++++
  2. yes on ls400, and many rear wheel drive cars, behind rear seats is the tank on front wheel drives, fuel tank is normally under the rear seat giving more space for the trunk
  3. 1990 ls400, when i run on uneven road at > 50 mph, i feel the car is bouncy (or floating) more than enough. I often hear the sound when tires touch the inner wheel arc. both front and rear wheels. what should I replace? the shock absorber (damper) or the springs?
  4. in places: combination meter, inside fuel door, Lexus put some words: "Premium unleaded fuel only". i am wondering what kind of premium is that. i am now using A95 gas, the most premium (if most expensive means that) available in my country should I try the alternative A92 which is less pricy? what octan you guys are using? have tried A92 one time, i felt a short lag in hard accelerations. is A92 the cause?
  5. on 90-94 LS400, simply remove the EFI fuse located in the fuse/ relay plastic box sitting next to the battery for a few minutes
  6. my 1990 ls400 got same symptom, 2 electronic fans in front of rad always run when i turn ignition on regardless of engine temp or air con on or off in lexus service manual, there is a check procedure for control of these fans, but too busy now for that
  7. driving a nissan bluebird for many years, i never planned to buy a lexus until the day a friend of mine, who buys and sells old cars, introduced the 1990 LS400 to me, i had a week test drive and decided to buy it. Why? 1- Affordable: bought it for US$ 18k 2- buy one get all: the car has almost all things i ever expect for a car: stylish appearance, quietest car, great stereos, tilt/ telescopic steering, leather seats... and many many more that others are only dreaming of 3- durability: first test dride was surprising for a 15 year old car. still as smooth as new, and there is still no signal of getting old in my opinion, Lexus for suitable for people who drive and enjoy the car by themselves (dont have a driver)
  8. i like the rims. seem like yours has a headlight washer, is it OEM or aftermarket? my 1990 doesnt have it
  9. this link wont really address what you want but it is the way to get access to the back of your stereo system where the back lighting is http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/headunit.html good luck
  10. Hello all, the ex-owner of my 1990 LS400 has changed its original rims from 15"to 16" everthing seems okay except that the speedo meter indicates wrong speed. GPS shows my car running at 100km/h but the speedo meter tells only 80km/h i guess this is because the rims have been changed to a bigger one with bigger dia. which cause wrong speed calculation my question is: can i replace the current speed sensor with the one for LS400 93-94 models which use 16" rims? i dont want to go back to 15" rims that means i need to pay for 4 new rims and tires. also, the new rims make the car look nice actually thanks
  11. Hi Steve2006, i got it, the button accepts one more down press, window goes down automatically :-) but it does not auto going up (maybe for safety reason) thanks all for your help
  12. Hi ontheroad1, could you please send it to me as well. i got the same issue. qha_vn@yahoo.com thanks a lot
  13. Hi ontheroad1, do you remember exactly what was displayed on the radio LCD when turning on the key? is that "SEC"? just to make sure :-) thanks
  14. i will try again the way Steve2006 advise (i used to do it on my previous nissan bluebird) if it wont work, then yes, replacement of the main switch is needed. but am wondering if there is a way to test and make sure that the auto functionality completely fails
