  1. How do K&N compare? Because with all the hassle I have of getting the Apexi I don't seem to have difficulties finding the K&N alternative. I've read a review and they seemed to come out 2nd after Apexi? Fair?
  2. So i should be able to get a good price if i sell mine?? :P I was gonna suggest that you sell him yours... but didn't want to put you on the spot... With the fate of Apexi hanging by threads..... they could become a collectors item... or worthless They still do them on TDI-plc. so I could get that from there if necessary.
  3. Thanks for the info. Mr.Singh, or anyone who can answer this: With that kind of gain in torque what kind of 0-60 time will be acheivable? Does anyone know the approximate torque gains achievable from the Greddy system? And what acceleration times will be like by comparison? IRLR, damn thats a confusing site. I found the apexi section but I'm not sure exacltly what they call what I'm looking for. And can I get the aluminium box from here too?? Thanks again...
  4. Lol. Can you give me the link to the cheapest place you can find the blitz s/c with intercooler? I cant seem to find it on nengun Would I need bigger injectors as some have said? Also, where is a good place to get the apexi bits you mention? I see this - http://www.tdi-plc.com/catalog/product_inf...roducts_id=3866 - On TDI-plc but does that come with all I need? Or is it just the filter? (Picture is decieving) Also, what is the aluminium air box about? Where can I get the Apexi Neo? Or at least could ya explain it to me a little...? :)
  5. Yea this is what I'm hoping. I see Zee and Mr Singh's list of engine mods and I HOPE theyre not all complete neccesities when getting t/c or s/c. I'm aware that ideally its best to maximise efficiency with all the bits that they have, but I would hope that just to start the ball rolling the kit, intercooler, remap and clutch should sort me out. And then when I'm ready go for the other bits and bobs that will add to the spec later... What I really want to know is that none of the bits that the t/c and s/c guys have MUST be bought when getting a kit. I can understand a remap and clutch but I can't get everything at once as I'd like to stay around £2000 or 3000~ euros on parts... I'm still not decieded on t/c or s/c. ATM while looking at the possibilities I think the Greddy turbo kit suits me well as it falls within the budget. I'm not looking for 300+ bhp or anything that will involve serious tuning, more along the lines of 250-300 would be nice if its achievable. I confess I will never be a hardcore modder, but just want a little more power. I love the car and want to keep it, and if I could get that kind of power from it I wouldnt be tempted to go for something more expensive just for a little more 'uumph' as I have been looking at S3's but to me they look boring and I like having a spacious car that can really push forward when necessary. Because £10,000 on a audi and then 'chipping' it would be nice but that would be for power alone. Not looks, style, practicality or any of the other things I love about the altezza... I might go for a Apexi induction kit just to keep me happy while I look up the possibilities...
  6. Where are you talking about getting the blitz supercharger from IRLR's? I've only been looking on TDI and its like £3800 on there, would be alot more interested in it if I could get it for the price you mentioned... I would just like to know what I will end up spending on it just for the turbo kit, and if I get the Greddy, will I need extras... I'd like to stay below the £2000 mark if I can (excluding fitting). Which, if I get the greddy and the need for other parts isn't that high then I think is possible...
  7. Just been trying to read up on these for the tezza and I don't get it. What's better about the blitz supercharger and the HKS turbo besides the name? Pro's and Con's?? I've read that a couple of members on here have had the cheaper set fitted...what has been the power increase and how is the reliability? I always thought turbocharging was WAY out of my budget until I saw this kit. Now I can get it done after I do ALOT more research and some help from you guys... What remap have the guys who have the greddy kit had done? I read about the Unichip piggyback system being used but is this the best way to go? If I get the turbo done what else is advisable? Obviously I'll be alot more knowledgable on the subject by the time it comes to getting it, which I don't plan for a while yet. I just need some starting info... Thanks for any help guys...
  8. Hi Been trying to get these for a while - I've tried an AAC on ebay and they couldnt do it, barely even made contact with me either? Are there any place on here that I can get them for a reasonable price? Thanks for any help...
  9. Thanks, I'll mention it when I take it in and get them to have a look at it... Robin, can I ask you where you got all your bits for your tezza? Would like to take my car that way at some point and would like to know how to do so...
  10. Hi I have a 1999 Altezza RS200, bought it about 2 months ago and it has about 65,000 miles on the clock. The problem I have is that it doesnt seem to pickup as quickly as it used to, leaving me revving with delayed or weaker response. Instead of getting good acceleration and a little jump at around 5000rpm I seem to hit a flat spot just before that where the car just doesnt push through. This is of course when racing the car flat out, which I have been doing a little too much of and revving it quite high. Since having the problem I have stopped however. I don't want to mess anything up, as I've been told that if it is the cambelt thats gone it can nacker the engine quite quickly. I also have a bit of a russly/gargling sound from the exhaust which seems to have gotten worse. The exhaust is still quite deep, but gives of a more crackly sound than I remember... I will be having it serviced next week and as advised to me will be getting a new cam belt put in. (which I was told should be done at about 60k) I just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem, and might know what it could be to do with... Is it the ECU timing? The Timing belt? I had a Gen 7 Celica before that had VVT and had a kickdown when the valves opened at 6,200rpm-ish...I assumed this was what the RS200 engine did too? Any help would be really appreciated...I'm just a little wary about driving the car now as I don't want to damage it further...One thing is for sure, if it does get sorted then I will be treating it a lot more delicately.
  11. On the last set I had 215x35x18, with these I had a really noisy ride and it felt like I was banging rather than touching bumps and potholes. This was on a Gen7 Celica (which hadn't been lowered) The toyo tyres I can get with the TSW catalunya's are 225x40x18. Which I've looked up on a tyre size calculator and seems to be ok. I just like the ride the way it is now, and have been thinking about 17" wheels to heighten the possibility of having a better ride but the tyres that I can get with those wheels are 205x40x17, which would probably be worse than getting the 18's with what they have on them... I know I can get other tyres put on but I don't want to have to. So I think the 18" catalunya's should suit me...I've only seen one instance of these on a white rs200 and I thought they looked NICE. On the Celica I had tyre pressures between 28-32 most of the time, usually around the 30 psi mark. How would I know what the ideal tyre pressure would be if I had the TSW's on the Altezza? Also, what are the recommended pressures for the Altezza's stock wheels?
  12. I've got a white rs200. Been looking at These - http://www.topgear.co.uk/acatalog/4x_18_In..._With_Tyres.php Or these - http://www.potn.co.uk/images/mito/KX-UDT.jpg Question is, which do you think will look better on a white altezza. And also, what is the threshold at which I may be sacrificing ride comfort? I have the stock altezza wheels which are 17" I believe, and very comfrotable. What spec will I be looking at to maintain the ride comfort with 18" wheels. 225x40x18? 225x45x18? I really just don't want low profile tyres as I've had them on my last two cars and I hate feeling every bump in the road...
  13. Hi As for the head unit, yep that really does. Because I have no problems getting a head unit and knowing about features, but I want it al to look tidy, so need a facia. Is ' a final drive' something you did yourself or got someone to do it? Can anyone tell me what diffwerence the 2.2 stroker makes in terms of power? (bhp and torque?)
  14. Would I not need to know a little more than I do if I was to use a Camcon? I don't have a problem learning but I as I said before I'm not sure if I trust myself fully yet. I'm not looking to become much of a racer, I'd just like a little more power. Mark, whats a final drive?? How much am I looking at if I want to turbocharge? What would a 2.2 stroker do for the power? It may be a better alternative if I don't want to fork out a crazy amount to turbocharge one day. EDIT, I've looked at the tdi-plc website mentioned above and see the prices of both 2.2 stroker and turbocharging, as I can see the stroker is much cheaper, but how much extra power does it manage to give the car? Also, where can I get the rs200 badge, and does anyone know a good fitting headunit setup for the car?
