  1. I like that TRD kit too.... how much are they to buy and to fit?
  2. Jamie, how much have you spent so far on your car? it must be costing you a fortune!!
  3. i got mine from lexus for £4.75.. they call it the Anti-Squel Clip
  4. i just got 24mpg on my last tank, 60ltrs got me 325 miles.... gutted!!! :( can the aircon really drink up that much of my fuel? thats the only thing ive done differently from my last few tanks, where i was getting around 250miles from 35ltrs ~ 32mpg :(
  5. Sad to hear a member leave, but all is for the best. Good luck finding a new car. Thought about a Galant? or a TT? maybe even a 3XXCi?
  6. site doesnt work for me? sorry mate, i typo'd it... spritmonitor.de
  7. Alright mate, I brought my car at 80k with full lexus service history and my cam belt had a chunk out of it, and had to put on a new radiator, AC radiator, Water pump, a by pass hose and get the cd player repaired!! then I had to do a full service on it. I would say having a stamp missing probably didn't cause the problems you've had with the lexus. You're probably right, but the frustrating thing is, the previous owner had somehow got the service book stamped by a garage, without the garage knowing, or having anything done, so when i bought it, the owner claimed it had full service history. so the stamp that was missing happens to be a fairly pricey service. all other services/stamps however were fine, all done correctly. the car has cost me alot, for £6k, i could have got a decent 02 plate IS and not an old 99 T. I guess i just need to hang onto it for about a year, then i can get rid of it and get a brand spanking new company car :D C200 Kompressor Coupé :)
  8. :o thats a very good deal... i got mine on 85k, without the belts changed, and missed a service.. i paid £4,800 im starting to feel ripped off now :(
  9. thats not bad 400miles out of 60ltrs [70lts tank, but light comes on with 10lt left] after some maths, that means you are hitting.... exactly 30mpg stick that into spiritmonitor.de .... and get yourself a nice forum logo to stick in your signature.. like my empty one below [not added any data yet]
  10. use spiritmonitor.de nice little site that calculates your mileage for you
  11. Yep, the radiator has to come out, although, we didnt actually disconnect it, just held it up high while still attached, to get the tools in underneath it. i got the belt, tensioner and idler replaced, i also replaced the powersteering belt and the aircon belt, which where both very worn out aswell. the aircon belt not as much, but the power steering belt had no grooves/teeth left. you can get the water pump checked while down there too, but most of the time you dont need to replace it. if you are taking the radiator out, might be a good time to change the coolant. other then that, nothing else really needs doing, other then giving it all a good clean. good luck
  12. Yep, definatly get it checked mate. although the only way to check it, is to open up the whole thing, and by that point, you might aswell change it lol good luck
  13. another one to note... the driver side fog light suffers from a build up of condensation. light still works, but just a common fault to add to the list. also sat nav screens tend to have dodgy flexi cables and so the screen starts to flicker and change colour, even turn off.
  14. Right so, my car is a 1999 model, got 91k on the clock, never had its belt changed. I read a forum topic on here about these belts and it got me worried, so i booked my car into a garage to get it changed. I bought the parts myself and took them to the garage to get it replaced. I paid about £124 for 3 belts [timing, aircon, power steering], idler and tensioner. After about an 1hr dismatling half the engine, i was in complete shock. The belt had worn down so much that the bits that had worn off had turned into plastic fluff... almost clogging the whole set of pullies. The belt was less then half its orginal size. Heres a before and after shots. and after Labour cost me £150, got the mechanic down from £250, local lad i always goto and trust. Total cambelt change cost.. £274 ------------- To sum up my Lexus expirence... Car cost.. £4,800 Car Servicing .. £1,200 [and its still not finished :( got satnav screen to fix yet. and some body work patching.] Total spent £6,000+ Car value... £5,400 Lesson learnt?........ never buy an IS with one service stamp missing, FLSH is a must!
  15. wind noise for me is an annoyance too. its the loudest of all the cars ive owned, and almost safe to say, in all the cars ive been a passenger in. has anyone found these wind deflectors useful?
  16. Yemgi, which OBDII reader do you use? ive searched on ebay and there are loads, and i have no idea which is which and which will work on the IS. Any ideas?
  17. could it be the anti-squel clips? they hold the pads in place, makes a clicking sound with every revloution of the tyre
  18. Wind Noise really gets to me too, its so loud, i need to drown it out with the radio. i think its just simple arodynamics that are missing, for instance, i noticed that on the rear passenger doors, there is a little dip in the flushness of the lines from the end of the door and the rear pillars, about half and inch "step". Would wind deflectors help with this? I had one of mine fall off, dont ask me how, but it the squel and clicking noise was terrible, popped into lexus garage, picked a new one, which by the way is called "Anti-Squel Clip", for £4.75, took the wheel off, and put it on, wasent easy to clip on ripped my fingers to bits, but it will go on eventually, instant effect. might need another one on the other side, clicking a bit over bumps. Mars, im half glad that you are having the same driving experiences as me. My lexus is stock too, nothing done to it at all. and i feel as though i shouldnt have to do anything to have a decent drive. the front end snaking under heavy braking is a little frightening, and i just wish i dont have to work so hard to drive it. Does anyone know how we can "fix" our little "problems"? ...... Keep the replies coming guys, let us know how yours drives, problems, resolutions....
  19. amazing difference aint it. He really is good at his job.
  20. My insurance is due too... im dreading it, im 23 and with no NCB, as i did this.. http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/766008.aspx to my other car. most places are offering me £1400, and i hate it, so i might be forced to go under my dads name, and let him take the policy with his 9yrs NCB. I hate insurance in this country, us law abiding folk have to fork out silly money to cover everyone else *sigh ill let you know how much i end up paying
  21. Hi Guys, I dont know about you guys, but I've only driven one Lexus IS200, it happens to be the one I own :winky: What i want to know is, how does YOUR IS200 drive. Whats it like handling? What dont you like about it? What part of the drive makes you feel uncomfortable? Have you ever pushed the car to its limits? [oversteer] Ill kick things off.... My IS200 before my geometry setup was slippy and slidy on bouncy country lanes, since i got that done its been much better. The steering has been very differnt to my other cars, its very responsive, but i think its defective in that any bump in the road or uneven surface, and the steering changes, if you dont have a firm grip on the wheel, it will steer into a ditch or something lol The sound of the car is fantastic, and whenever i drive it, i always end up hanging onto the gears right up until just before 6k rpm, and follow with an agressive gear change. Good fun :) All my previous cars have been comfy cruisers, family cars, with smooth rides and gear changes, but this one... you just cant drive it smooth, every gear change is agressive and jolty.. but very quick. The brakes are decent, but under heavy braking it tends to snake at the front, steering correction always needed. i think this particular expeirence is actually a problem i might need to fix. And finally... not sure if any of you are around london, but i was on Hanger Lane rounabout, the junction on the M40/A40 and went round it on the inside doing 65mph, i was bricking it, as in my last car, it would have lost it and understeered into the other cars, but the Lexus... fantastic, stuck to its lane, and went round smoothly.. Traction control lights flickered like mad but it did its job. Thanks.
  22. what i want to know is how changing spark plugs can make a differnce? i think mine are the orginals from showroom back in 1999. might need to change them soon.
  23. i average around 32mpg, heavy footed. my last little fill up, i got 282miles from £34 of unleaded @ 94p/ltr now what i want to know is how these "denos's" can make a difference? what make them so special?
  24. i need to get mine changed soon, might do it next week. anyone know where i can get the parts from? or the part numbers? i usually get my parts from eurocarparts.com but unsurpisingly they dont do jap cars. :( also, seeing as the engine is going to be carved open, what else should i get done? water pump, belt tensioner, belt itself, belt idler... anything else?
