  1. My current and previous NXs have both been insured with Lexus Motor Insurance. I have found them to be quite competitive on price, i.e. matching, or in some cases, being lower than the quotes I received from the usual suspects or the comparison websites (for similar cover; excess; etc.). Thankfully I haven't had the chance to see how well they respond to a claim yet (famous last words!) but am hopeful that it will be a trouble-free experience. Their promise of authorising repairs at Lexus approved body-shops using genuine Lexus parts is a major plus for me. Also, being associated with the Lexus "brand" must help surely - or am I being naive? Having said that - if their prices were well over what other insurers were quoting, would I still go with them? Probably not. I would say however that their customer service when renewing or changing cars in the past has been a little underwhelming. For example my recent renewal quote had my marital status wrong (when it was correct in the previous year) plus they only record you as having 10 years NCB even if you have actually accumulated more (so not sure how that will work if I choose to go somewhere else and need to provide proof of NCB). Hopefully their claims process is a little better. Like you, I'd be interested to hear what others have to say in that regard.
  2. Congratulations. I'm sure you wont regret it. With regards to insurance, don't disregard trying Lexus Motor Insurance. Despite some owners on here being quoted quite astronomical figures by them, I personally have found them to be quite competitive (both on my previous 2018 NX and my current 2022 model). They offer repairs by Lexus approved body-shops using genuine Lexus parts. Also don't forget that the true value of an insurance company, regardless of cost or other factors, only comes to light when you need to make a claim.
  3. I would echo the comments made by @Steve Oliver regarding a service and the Relax warranty. Also make sure that they do the hybrid battery health check at the same time. Also ask whether it has had the the multimedia software upgrade for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (if that's a priority for you). It should be eligible for the upgrade but whether it has been done is another question. If not, ask them to do it as part of the deal (as it can be expensive to do after the purchase). You might already be aware that this version of the NX300h is susceptible to the CANBUS method of theft (if you're not aware then take a look at the associated post at the top of the forum listing). Would be good for you to mention this to the salesman so that if you do buy the car you're ahead of the game with respect to the forthcoming security enhancements. I owned a 2018 NX300h with similar mileage for 3 years and it was trouble-free.
  4. I would suggest trying "303 Aerospace Protectant" spray.
  5. All the best Ken. I've enjoyed all your input here on the NX forum. I think we both got our Gen 2 NXs at roughly the same time (and were pretty much the first to do so on the LOC). Good luck with the RX - I hope it meets all your expectations and more.
  6. I had this post appear on my Twitter feed today regarding the recovery of a stolen RX. If you enlarge the photo you will see the telltale sign of the wheel arch molding having been removed. Looks like a tracker was the saviour on this occasion.
  7. I can see what you're saying but typically Lexus cars are stolen for spare parts or for shipping overseas - not to be thrashed by a couple of joyriding yobs (there are plenty of hot-hatchbacks around for that purpose). From what I gather, the thieves drive the car to a quiet location somewhere and wait a day or two to see if the owner finds it. In this scenario the tags may prove invaluable and, assuming that the thieves hadn't caused too damage in the method by which they stole it, I'd probably want it back.
  8. Hi James, I'm assuming that your ES has the new Lexus Interface multimedia system. If so then I would take a look at the "Software update" thread on the NX forum first before deciding whether to do the update. There have been issues for some owners post-update.
  9. The only slight issue with connecting to Lexus' suggested jump starter terminals under the bonnet (notably point D as referenced in the manual) is that the jump leads provided with most jump starter packs are notoriously short so may not stretch that far.
  10. Sounds like you have the climate control "synch" option enabled. You'll notice this button alongside all the other heating controls under the Infotainment screen. If it's highlighted in blue, it will synch both left and right sides. As @AWC has stated, I think your other issues are related to the introduction of the second key. What key is now your primary one? If not already, I would revert to your original key and keep the one you've just received as the spare.
  11. I too had the same issues following the latest software update that you have described (Arrow icon with the cross through it; no journeys being recorded; unable to get last known car location; Connected Services not enabled under Info and Security). After trying many times to get these services to stay enabled, the problem just went away without me doing anything else. Since then I have used the car a few times and the services have remained enabled (the only one that doesn't is the "Use voice data" service which I have given up on for now) and the Arrow icon is blue (meaning that the car is communicating with the Lexus servers). Sorry that any of the above probably isn't of much help for your particular problems but what I can say is that the Security lock" settling is disabled and I have never dared to enable it so I don't think that enabling it will help you. I know that one or two others on here had the same issues but not sure if for them the problem just resolved itself like it did for me. Hope you get if sorted soon.
  12. So I went out to the car this morning to try Ken's suggested fix. Turned the car on and lo and behold the Arrow icon was blue indicating that the necessary Connected Services were already enabled. This was confirmed by checking under "Info and Security". I then turned the car off and then back on a couple of times and the services remained enabled each time (and the Arrow icon remained blue). So maybe it has sorted itself out - but who knows, given Lexus' record on software and technology. Or maybe tomorrow it will all be broken again. However, I couldn't get the "Voice data" service to stay enabled so gave up on this one at that point. I think this particular service is required to facilitate some of the more extensive "Hey Lexus" voice commands that need to go out to the internet to get executed.
  13. Hi Ken, can you elaborate please? Are you saying that you enabled these features via the Navigation settings rather than via Info and Security?
  14. Yep, same for me guys. No matter how often I enable the Connected Services they get disabled again when I next start the car. So at the moment, a software upgrade which delivered little or no tangible improvement or enhanced functionality (from my point of view anyway) has currently removed one function that I found at least half useful (i.e. the trip recording).
  15. Just been out to the car and the same settings were disabled as described by @hintonwood I enabled these settings and all appears to be OK again (the Lexus Link+ app is now reporting the car's correct location and I assume that my journeys will be recorded again). Looks like the recent software upgrade was to blame for disabling the Connected Services settings.
  16. Thanks for pointing this out Ken. I'll check the settings on my car and see if that fixes it for me too.
  17. I had the software upgrade on Tuesday. Since then none of my journeys have been recorded in the Lexus Link+ app and the "find my car" facility is not working either. Both worked fine before the upgrade. Anyone else having the same issues?
  18. I agree. Here's my wishlist:- Turn by turn directions shown in the HUD when using Google Maps via Android Auto. Some indication in the HUD when my NX350h is in EV mode (maybe the speed indicator turns green or something like that?). The ability to hide the first row of HVAC controls when using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (similar to how it works for the native map screen). Would be nice to utilise the full screen real estate for AA. Split screen functionality in the native multimedia system. Having the option to view both map and audio at the same time might tempt me away from AA. I doubt I'll see any of this come to pass during my term of ownership of the car, if ever.
  19. Similar to @Ken R who replied earlier, I have had my NX350h for nearly 2 years (and 11,500 miles). There is some very slight wear on the driver's seat but it's nothing more than what I would deem acceptable for a car of that age and mileage. I definitely wouldn't expect to see the issues you are experiencing with a 5 month old car. You should definitely pursue this with Lexus.
  20. I believe that some owners in Europe and North America have received an OTA software update for the Infotainment system. Nothing for my car yet though. From what I gather, it's not a major upgrade. A YouTuber in Canada posted the following:-
  21. You might consider purchasing one of the "wireless AA" dongles that are on the market. If so, I would recommend the "AAWireless" one - https://www.aawireless.io/
  22. I can't help you with regards to the "native" audio interface when connecting the phone to the Infotainment system via USB as I have never done that. However, what I would say is that maybe now's the time to use Android Auto, seeing that you are connecting up the phone anyway. That way you could install one of the numerous MP3 player apps (that allow you to play local music files on your phone) and "mirror" it to the car via Android Auto. The interface will be a lot more logical and usable. The player app I use, and would recommend, is Poweramp. If you still wish to use the Lexus Infotainment system primarily (for the satnav for example), it's quite easy to switch between that and AA (in fact I think I'm right in saying that the Lexus audio interface can show you what's playing via AA).
  23. Hi Len, I don't own an RX (I have an NX). If I did though I would definitely have requested the plate. I just mentioned the availability via the service booking website for the benefit of RX owners on here.
