  1. we had best source a donor image anyone got any decent pics ?preferably with a simple background!
  2. i would recomend a porter cable polisher you also need a 110v transformer but they do an awesome job my matewho is a big vdub fan bought one and it did an awesome job havent heard many good reviews about the other type i think you will tend to get more holographic effects in your paint if you use the one from ebay. i know a chap who is a proffesional valeter and he was v impressed with the porter cable. i'm not saying the one on ebay is no good but i'm sayin that if i were to buy oe i would go for the porter.
  3. i had some F1's and they scrubbed out really fast in my opinion, dont get me wrong they stuck like glue but i couldnt justify getting through tyres that quick. It was recommended to me to get bridgestones they were about 99 quid each and i can only praise them i have been known to give the car a little stick so to speak and they do perform, but the bonus is i had the car up on the four point lift yesterday to change the oil and they are wearing really really well and evenly!!
  4. is anyone on here into photoshop i've recently purchased a new d-slr and have been experimenting will all kinds if pics just wondered if anyone shared the same interest? i know on other car forums they have photoshop threads where everyone starts with the same car pic and plays around with it. just wonderd if anybody was up for a p/s thread? rgds rob
  5. i just wonderded if a valve could be stuck slightly open for a short period of time = no compression, ive never bothered looking at how the vvti system works so it was only a passing thought. i hope its a fuel starvation problem rather than ignition as i dont think unburnt fuel would do the cat a lot of good, i'm pretty certain it is fuel shortage though because as soon as it fires there are no splutters or probs at all. also only ever seems to do it me when i jump in it quick so maybe the trick is to give it a sec or two?????
  6. does it seem like theres any fuel getting there if its anything like mine it wont its asif its not even trying to fire. may sound stupid but it couldnt be anything to do with the vvti could it?
  7. i know the head units vary from different IS models as to whether or not they have an internal amp and if the cd is at the top or bottom but does anyone know if the changer mechanisms are the same for all the models with the changer at the bottom? i wouldnt mind changing over a mechanism but cant afford to experiment without knowing its the same. rgds rob
  8. i have the same problem have you tried taking the key out and putting it in again as i wonder if it is the imobiliser as its asif its not getting any fuel but i find it starts straight away if i do this.
  9. well i'm on the norfolk / lincolnshire border and dont know of a lexus dealer around here so getting some sent would be good. does anyone know where my nearest dealer is? i'm in sutton bridge.

    Error 1

in my experience mate i wouldnt even bother wasting your money on a cleaning disc the number of custumers that came in saying they had used one to no avail, yet when i repaired the hi-fi/cd player/dvd/ps2..... for them it was only usualy a lens clean needed. you would be better off investing in some isopropyl(alcohol) and some cotton budds if you dont mind taking the radio apart as the cd is at the top i cant imagine it would be too hard. if you cant get any isopropyl then i know engineers who have used a little spit in fact my old collegue sweared by it and it did do the job. just wet the end of the cotton bud and gently rub the surface of the lens it doesnt take a lot. if you can get some aero duster(compressed air in a can) then this can be good to remove dust which is under the lense but you shouldnt need it. hope this helps rob p.s dont use meths as it leaves a residue.
  11. if there was to be a group buy i would be up for a set my 2 hole ones are crap.
  12. all anyone would need to know is the supply voltage and the two wattages to work out the difference in current draws and then work out what resistance is needed to equal the original oem lamp draw. ________________P(w) _______________________V ............................./....\.............................................. /.....\ _____________V____I(A)___________________I(A)__R(ohm) the two triangles above make it easy to work out (P) power =(V) Volts x (I)Amps therefore if you need to know the current draw(I) you divide the (P) wattage by the (V) supply voltage the other triangle works the same p.s ignore the horizontal lines only way i could get them to line up!
  13. newer LED lights will not help as its the fact that led's just dont draw as much current as a normal filament lamp thats the prob so the only way must be a load resistor accross the lamp without removing the warning system. if you know the wattage of the old lamps and the wattage/mA's of the led's i can work out what resistance is needed in order to match the original current draw. rob

hi well i have been around quite a few car audio places they all come back with the same answer that is we cant do anything with them systems. try to go back to lexus or put in a replacement one. So if you have any joy please let me know thanks gutted just got mine back from my mate as i half expected he said he couldn't get any service info for it and couldnt justify spending hours on it even though i did repairing his :tsktsk: television. anyway i'm gonna get a power supply set up in my house and have a proper look at it it can only be the mechanism out of sync/timing trouble is it only has to be one tooth out! will let you know if i get anywhere....
