  1. do you know anyone with an oscilloscope if you connect it to a sensor and spin the wheel you should get a square wave output.
  2. am i being thick or are there no speed limits on the isle of man?! :winky:
  3. FYI AM is LW/MW. AM = amplitude modulation and FM= Frequency modulation long wave and medium wave are both amplitude modulated.
  4. i put cheap ones on the front and have never regretted anything quite so much in my life!(drone drone drone) so when i hit an sds core drill bit in the road and tore the sidewall out of one of my rears i had 2 bridgestones fitted at the rear they grip excellent in all weathers the chap at the tyre place has an impreza and thats what he uses it cost me £188 for both including fitting. i will defo be fitting them to the front when i finally manage to scrub them out!
  5. surely the sensors only induce a current and have no power supply as such. therefore for a sensor not to work it would need to be open circuit and an o/c sensor would show? wouldnt it? have you cleaned round where the sensor is and that metal ring with the slots in i would imagine if there was a shard of metal stuck in a grove it may play it up? my mates mk4 golf was plugged in to a laptop and it picked up a faulty sensor straight away and told us which one it was.

a mate of mine who is a car radio specialist is looking at mine as we speak if he sorts it out and its not too expensive i will let you all know if you want? if you wanted to ship it to me then i would be hapy to take it to him and post it back you never know he may give me some commission i can imagine i could keep him busy lol!
  7. LMAO i saw a policeman in a marked car with a phone by his ear whilst pulling out of a t junction in spalding last month! i personally think that there are a lot more dangerous things people do whilst driving so why pick on the mobile? because its like a speeding ticket, easy money because most people do it! although i'm not saying i condone either if it wasnt for the money why dont they say six points and no fine? its not asif 60 quid realy bothers anyone?!?
  8. ive always found liverpool victoria v good mate but now i'm with direct line as they do my house/life/gf car etc... i'm only 22 and i only have a 200 but i thought 500 fully comp was quite good i payed more than that for a mk2 golf td last year.
  9. i use bp ultimate seems to perform better with no probs to date. hey Aaron what rado you got? i should be buying my mates mulberry vr6. but i'm hesitant over getting an older car how do you find the two compare?(sorry off subject i know) rgds rob
  10. lol have you ever seen a young one?!? have you tried taking your battery off? dont know whether this would reset anything? if it is a sensor i hope its easier to replace than the one i did in my mates mk4 golf today was a right b**ch to get out and an even bigger B**CH to get the new one in!
  11. i work for mercedes.................... ................disconnecting the indicators
  12. how many pins are in the rad sensor plug if its two in the past on older cars i have unplugged them and shorted the plug out in order to turn the fan on i only did it to get me home when it was really hot as it kept the fan going continuously also it will tell you if its the thermocouple or not. just a thought rgds rob
  13. i just put 5w30 ful synthetic in mine i got the halfords branded one as my mate who is a halfords manager assures me that their own branded oil is made by a reputable company (cant think of the one he named) it was £31.99 for 5ltrs but it costs under 20 quid if you have a halfords trade account ;)
  14. @CCA I also made my own, but i had too put the wires directly into that plug. (Plug shown below is the one that comes out of the amp and goes too the speakers etc, and i put the wires into those slots) Idealy what i want is a male end of that plug so i can crimp the wires into that then connect that onto the plug that goes too the speakers. How did you overcome this problem? As you can see below i have circled the part i need. Not being funny too Fargo or anyone else, but this really does look like a connector you would buy at halfords etc (not that i have been able too find it at Halfords). It looks too me like the guy had found a source of these ISO leads then just made an extension piece, which is like you said CCA 'cant see the point in having the extra connection so near the amplifier plug', why didnt he make it a one piece lead i would guess that the longest part of the lead is a standard off the shelf iso extension lead and the short section you circled is an off the shelf iso-->bare wire lead that the guy is then fitting the white nylon connector too. also referring to something way back in this thread about using the 2/3 ohm speakers in my experience as a tv enginneer you are better off going over the impeadance level rather than under i.e using 8 ohm speakers on a 4ohm recommended amp would be healthier for the amp than using a 2 ohm speaker.i would connect the 2 and 3 ohm speakers in series either side to give five ohms either side. rgds rob
  15. surely if rac boy put his laptop on it it would have picked up the dodgy sensor. this happened to me a while back when I slipped on some spilt diesel on a forecourt it seemed to get stuck in the ecu memory as it stayed on all that day and all the next, it was really annoying with the light flashing so i wondered if the trc was actually functioning? i floored it out of a junction and whipped the back end round and the lights went out straight away. :D all has been well since, i wonder if the snow slush and salt on the road at the time played the sensor up? hope you get it sorted soon, i'd put some black insulation tape over that bloody flashin light in the meantime :winky:
  16. have any of you folks done any repair work on the gloss black on the top half of the doors on a 200 as my passenger side one has got a strange crazed/matt effect goin on. i have tried a little light T-cut work and some other scratch removers but it just soaks it up and turns white, its as dry as a witches tit! the only thing i can think to do is to get a respray but i'd like that to be a last resort! any ideas much apreciated rgds Rob p.s also getting a friend of mine to look at my headunit he repairs about 30-40 car radios a week and he reckons out of the four lexus radios he has had in in the past, he has only succeded with 1 but will let you folks know how it goes if ure interested? could poss strike up a deal with him as I dont think he would ever be out of work lol :P
  17. hi mate i drive a IS200s auto and i get a strange smell which i cant compare to anything else i have ever smelt, i never notice it whilst driving only when i stop it seems to appear more when i have been stationary in D for a while or when i have had to do a lot of shunting back and forth i checked my auto box fluid level the other day and it was at the hot level when the engine was cold so wondering whether i have got too much fluid and its putting a lot of strain on the clutch because its trying to creep harder??? also when i first bought the car i had a carrier bag stuck to the cat, that smelt like burning rubber when hot, it took ages to burn off. hope this helps in some way :winky: rgds rob
