  1. I am 30, with hair. Had my first LS when I was 25 and was the youngest registered owner of a LS in Ireland ever. My Dad is 80 and drives a LS too, and has done so since they first came to Ireland in August of 1990. He still also has all his hair!
  2. yep .... had it out on the seat while sticking me head under the steering wheel Mike Might it be for the volume of the beep omitted by the smart-key system when you try to lock the key in the car?
  3. Greetings, I just had a look at your old LS400. Boy, your car was gleaming!! Do you miss it? What did you use to polish / clean it? Cheers. Thanks for the compliment. Lexus dealer owed me a favour so he gave the car a full vallet. It took them two weeks to get it looking so good, as I was away on holidays. They werre very proud of their work and there is a photo of my car in their service centre now... The Silver LS430 has no stare value compared to the black one, that suits me right now... I miss the black, but think never again. Too hard to keep clean on Irish mucky roads. I must say though, till now, I've never seen a black one look as well as yours does. Well done.
  4. This was brushed steel till the 2004 model. It's up to you to decide which you think looks better.
  5. Hi Rod, as my previous posts on here allude to, I am not into fancy non-standard alloys on the LS, I just don't think they work. However, your car looks amazing and those wheels look great on it. I had a black 1998 LS400 some years ago and when it was clean (which was most of the time) nothing ever looked as well. Click on the link if you're interested in seeing a photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulyandlinda...57606211137189/ Well done on your purchase - the car looks great.
  6. The LS430 is better in every way. There is nothing better about the LS400. My LS430 has 110,000 miles on and is still like new. Very quiet. Very smooth to drive. Sound system is amazing. I've had two LS400's and am now on a LS430. My dad has got a new LS every year since 1990. I can tell you that they only get better with each model. The LS460 took some getting used to - I must admit.
  7. How have you gotten on with your parking sensors? Mine have failed and beep all the time. Lexus want €3,000 for the fix. Ouch!
  8. Holy crap - near 300,000 miles and looks great - not my car, just thought it might be interesting to someone here http://www.carzone.ie/search/Lexus/LS430/L...rt?channel=CARS
  9. There is a bracket right where you said! It lookslike where an alarm siren sat, but not looked too closely for any extra wiring. There is nothing in the cabin of the car that would indicate a switch or anything-maybe why it did not come with the proper Lexus remorte? Mine was registered in January 1995. Thanks for that-I was told by someone on clublexus.com it was for an ES350-anyway, sold it on ebay for £26.00 (simply advertised as a Lexus remote)stating in MAYBE one from an ES. If someone knew what is was for, then they have got a bargain. I still can't find one for my LS anywhere-looks like the main dealer will be getting my money (as a very last resort (although I could drop it in at an alarm place to have a look at). I'd have thought the more curtious thing to do would be contact the previous owner or garage and see if they are missing a key.
  10. The key fob you have is only able to be used with an LS460 or LS600h no other LS will take this type of fob as far as I know. My Dad has had a new LS every year since 1990 and the first one with such a key fob was the LS460. I think it was left in your car by mistake... You should check that, because if someone has misplaced that key, it is a VERY big deal to get replaced...
  11. There's no enjoyment in a car if the cost of it stresses you. In a few years the values of these big cars will have been reduced even further, as the EU is hell-bent on taxing gas guzzlers out of existence. No simple answer. If the cost of ownership stresses you - get rid of it. When things change, pick up a younger model. If it's not about cost, keep it. You know where the miles have come from.
  12. I say KEEP IT. The gain is not worth the sale. You'll have a hard time finding as a nice an example as that again, and I am sure everytime you sit in it, it makes you feel proud of yourself. How much is that worth to you?
  13. I have driven my Dad's LS460 a lot and have never noticed this issue. In-fact I would say that the gear changes are totally unnoticable and seemless. It takes off like a fighter-jet when I put my foot down. Maybe your thinking about it too much. Just drive it and forget about what's going on in the computer... It is a learning gear-box, so if you're always changing how your driving as you think it's not selecting the right gear, then it will always learn that you want it to be in a different gear... Drive it, it will get it right then.
  14. My dad has an LS460 and I drive it a lot. There are two design issues with it that bug me. When the wipers are in 'auto' mode to give the wipers a swish you must click them up to off, then click them up to swish. Where as in the LS430 you simply pull the level forwards no matter what section it is in. In the LS460 pulling the level forwards activates the spray. The second issue is that they have pulled the buttons for height, pwr, comfort, rear blind, seat-heaters & coolers etc up near the arm rest, where it is impossible to see whilst driving. Where as on the LS430 they are nearer the centre-forward in eye veiw of the driver all the time without taking the eyes off the road for too long at all. This in my view makes the LS430 the most ergonomic car I have ever driven and the LS460 frustrating. However the LS460 is so much nicer inside and out that I would suffer the slight design faults. My daughter says the LS460 looks like a Maserati and the LS430 looks like an Avensis (just to ***** me off... :-) It is my goal to own one. You are very fortunate to even be considering this car given the current climate. Well done. You won't be sorry I am sure.
  15. 430 430 430 I've had two 400's and now am on a 430. I can only think of how the 430 is better. There is nothing that the 400 does or has that the 430 doesn't do better. Better everything. (Dare I say, I even think the 430 looks better)
