  1. Dont want to start a trend here! But with the price of fuel going through the roof, a blower of a different veriety may be the solution to my problem also. There is Vidal Sassoon spec R on ebay at the moment. Bolts straight on with high, low and turbo settings built in. Seriously tho, Has anybody here had to have an engine out? What sort of time scale are you talking for one out one in?
  2. The 3SGE is meant to be robust, to say the least. I wouldnt say no to turbo or S/C it. Look at the Toms 280T. It was just back from getting a new ECU and Map recently, along with a new fuel rail to cope with the uprated pump. In retrospect I would say lower the compression with steel rods, L/C pistons and thicker gasket. Then when the Turbo kicks in at least you can run reasonable boost. However, Low boost IS better than No boost! As far As a 3SGTE bottom end, not sure how that would work. I would have thought that the engine mounts would have been on the wrong way as the Altezzas engine, as you rightly pointed out, is the wrong way round [Not an easy fix]. The bottom end is also different the 3SGTE already has the forementioed set up for the turbo application [ Bonus] but I believe the sump requires modification to fit [again not an easy fix]. So I think ill try the solder idea first. What about a 2JZ-GE? from the is300 that sits the same way as th supra GTE does it not? If that fits in the same chassis as the altezza would this not be a option? engine running gear and aux'. Tezzaman. you would be in tears? You big girls blouse! Its only a car it will live again, Hopefully :D
  3. I was just going to patch the hole up using some solder would that not work?? :winky: Got a link for that Auto Altezza on Autotrader, cheers for that. 98000 mls. could be an idea at least that way I know the engine runs ok before taking mine out. Anybody else have anything else to add??
  4. Ok folks, a week past thursday coming home from work i went to accelerate and as the boost came on the engine gave out its last roar and blew up on me! Wasnt going hard, sitting at about 4000Rmp in 5th @ .4 bar Costly to say the very least! Upon quick inspection it would appear that the rod has come out the side of the block leaving a rather large hole! So, Do I sell the turbo kit and change back to N/A, which is the cheap option. This means No more boost for me! Or Do I wait a bit longer and go for a rebuild bottom up with new internals to cope with the boost. who knows how far the damage has gone. :tsktsk: Pricey! Either way, my first problem is a new engine, and the Thor option is out the window, you could almost buy another tezz for the same price as they are asking! Does Anyone have any suggestions as I am very wary that the ones on Ebay sound to good to be true ( tested warranty and guarentee below 30000 mls) Upon further inspection there have been some people who would really like to have words with the owners of these companies after being left High and Dry! Its not all bad but there are a select few, and I dont want to be a part of that gang after parting with my hard earned cash!! Secondly what sort of prices am I looking @ for the forementioned options and who would be the best doctor to see for the transplant? As always people your thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated Cheers Dave
  5. Problem Solved! New discs, pads and caliper. Not Cheap at £430.00. At least I wont have the worry that it might come back again! Hopefully!
  6. Hey folks, Having spent a few hours freeing up my seized front O/S caliper I thought I had it fixed! But that would be far too easy! Now it comes on and off whenever, Anyways.... Long story short Im through waisting time trying to fix it for it to happen again, Does anybody have or know where i can get a replacement?? As usual any help is Much appreciated folks. Toyota Altezza RS200 or IS200 as i believe
  7. Cheers For the help. Much Appreciated. Will give it a look.
  8. Hey Folks Was replacing a switch the other day and got my wires crossed! Blew out all the Lights on the dash, I had a look at the fuse box under the bonet but could not locate the necessary fuse, or any blown fuse for that matter! My first question is: Where would I find the fuse for the lights on the dash of an RS200? and secondly, These fuses are like baby Blade fuses, are these easily sourced? Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Dave
  9. Im interested, if you can get prices for them. Can you fit most wheels onto the hubs, or are the wheels, like the hubs, car specific? I wouldnt have thought there would be much to fitting them, other than the airbag! Anyone any experiences with airbag removals? Thanks for the help! Much appreciated :)
  10. Looking into these without much luck. Can any body shed any light on the situation? Cheers
  11. Sounds very similar to a problem I was having with the turbosh. Garage said that water had been getting into the fuse box. They dried it out and hey presto! Hope everything works out!
  12. Those be the fellows! well done! US$633 seems pretty reasonable I think!
  13. Right lads. Its not arches its the actual front wing. The FPR ones look to be the ones im after but cant be sure due to the photo anyone know where to get them. However those chargespeed wings look pretty smart! Thanks for all the input tho mucho apprecieted. Cheers Dave
  14. Just back from a visit to sunny Jamaica where to my surprise there were a number of modded tezzas. Not only tezzas but a whole host of imports from Imprezas to the new evo X. It was a surpirise due to the fact that they seem to lack decent roads for which to enjoy them on. For all I moan about the state of our roads, they are night and day in comparison. This doesnt stop the Jamaicans however! Everyday at 4pm a boy would coming blasting along the road on his R6 wearing shorts, t-shirt and a Bandana! On his head. My jaw dropped everytime. He just smiled and cracked it open. Rastas on bikes with no helmets. But back to the task in hand. We parked up in Kingston and got out for something to eat. I walked passed a smart altezza parked at the side of the road that had aftermarket front wings among other things. They looked pretty subtle but gave the front end of the car a bit of extra width. They looked nice so went went to get the camera in the hope that I could post a couple of pics. No such luck! Upon returning the car had taken off. Quite fancy them. Can anyone shed any light on the situation as I have had a look on the net with no success. Cheers Dave
  15. I tried to buy the PFC #414AT010 for the turbo set up off JPS on ebay. Stay Well clear :tsktsk: . He is advertising as '3 available'. Once he had recieved my cash it took him 2 months to tell me that Apexi had administration issues and that he couldnt give me any definate time as to how long it would take. Giving it the usual it will be here next week. This went on for about 12 weeks. If they werent so hard to come by I would have cut my losses before then, his only saving grace is that he did infact offer me a full refund. But is still advertising as '3 available' as you read this!! However, there was another one on ebay which I paid for and recieved within the week from Japan. This one is infact the 414AT006. This is for N/A Altezza. I have had it fitted but obviously with the increase in the volume in air from the turbo the PFC wants to shut itself down as soon the boost kicks in. My Tuner (Calder Imports 'CRD') says that it requires a Map Sensor and Loom for the turbo application. As far as i can make out this is the 'Optional' Boost Control kit for the PFC. Which is apparently not available for the 414AT006. There is one for the SW20 and the 3sGTE celica. Would this work, as effectively I now have a 3sGTE??? Other than this could an OEM Map sensor replace the current MAF sensor and integrate with the PFC or do I need to cut my losses and keep trying to source a 414AT010. Any ideas people?
