  1. Thanks Matus. They fix to the car in a clean and tidy manner without leaving any marks or scratches then. Mine will be off and on quite a lot so i hope they are relatively quick and easy to both fit and remove.
  2. Gents, Has anyone good or bad feedback on the Lexus roof bars and cycle carrier available for the IS? Will it secure a full suspension mountain bike that does not have the conventional down tube and is it relatively secure? Also the accessories section of the manual states the carrier is lockable, is this any good? Furthermore, did you check out the Thule roof bars, though i'm unsure whether they offer a fitment for the IS, and if so were these in your opinion better or worse and why? Cheers.
  3. I've upgraded from the 16" rim to the 18" standard set as supplied on the Sport. The economy has only been very marginally affected by approx 1-2mpg and i monitor closely because of business usage. The speedometer has also been very slightly affected by approx 1-2mph at around 70mph as indicated on the dial. This is cross checking the speedo against a TomTom. Car not only looks a whole lot better but is also a lot more composed on the road, in high winds on the motorway at times it was a bit of a handful. There must be a small increase in drag from the tyre footprint because the grip is also better this might also help explain the increase in fuel usage.
  4. You are absolutely correct and driving like Miss Daisy is not what this is about. On the motorway with a few points on the licence and on business i keep it in check and let the business mileage rate pay my way and some. The weekend car and motorbike are for putting serious smiles on my face :D , that is not to say when i let the Lexus stretch its legs it doesn't give me a grin or two. Come on Moley, be great if you could give us your inside take on this. Cheers and thanks for all the replies.
  5. Possibly though it is only a very gradual temperature change, generally set at 20degC, aircon usually off. It seems others are experiencing the same kind of problem, i wondered if anyone had recently had it fixed.
  6. Having read a thread of some considerable length about the diesel fuel economy and that some vehicles have had their ECU re-mapped, i kind of lost the plot whether or not mine requires it. I took delivery of the vehicle about 20/12/06 and with frugal driving on long motorway runs I am averaging about 43-44mpg per tank full. When i say frugal this is disciplined cruise control driving set at 70mph. I cannot say i've been disappointed with the economy, however I have found 6th gear unusable until recently. It appears that since about 5800miles on the clock it has loosened up somewhat and I can now cruise in 6th at around 70ish. It isn't entirely happy and needs cogging down should there be a climb, however it is noticeably better. Is this common? Through the gears it is ok, however first to second suffers from a fair amount of lag as discussed before. I therefore question whether or not it might be that my car already has had the ECU re-mapped, or that it would benefit from having it done? I don't really want to compromise the economy if i can help it as the business mileage rate barely covers my commuting costs as it is.
  7. Please forgive me if this has been answered previously, however I've only just found the forum having taken delivery of my IS220D before Christmas. The question I have is, has anyone else experienced a rather unnerving cracking type sound from the center console. I initially thought it may be due to a ventilation damper moving whilst circulating air, however i'm not sure. It is only very intermittant and might only happen on occasion, therefore i'm a little reluctant to get the center console stripped down by the dealer inevitably resulting in a rebuild with more squeeks. If anyone else has any other experience of this your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Apart from that pretty much happy with the car.
