  1. Hi to all, Since February this year my car is equipped with these lighted door sills from TTE, a nice blue light shining through the words Lexus. really beautifull. Untill after only two months, one sill does not light up anymore when opening the door. No worries I thought TTE, being also Lexus will fix that for me. I sent it back for warranty.. the answer: we can not repair it for you due to complex problems, and also the part is not in production anymore. Would you like a credit voucher for that one remaining door sill? Really unbelievable, only 4 months old!! This is totally rediculous. Now I want to know if anybody has such a door sill on stock, I think I can get TTE far enough to buy that door sill to replace my broken one. Can anybody help out here? regards Lecati Holland GS300
  2. Hi dipstick, Hmmm, I don't recognize this at all, the wind/road noise could come from poor door seals, my car has only travelled 29.000 km and I just saw that on the top left of the drivers door the click button seal was broken. Strangely.. Also your comment on the Yokohama's (advan I take it) can be right if you have been driving with low tyre pressure for long time. I had this and everytime I thought the front bearings where damaged, it turned out to be severe tyre wear on the outside of the tyre giving the noise. I have replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza, which of course a completely different tyre. Ratling is present if windows(front) are down and you slam the door! otherwise I cannot say ther is much to complain about . But having said that, my former car was the 2002 edition of the IS200 sport, and it had a definite more solid feel when you drove it. Everything was as tight as a drum. Audio can be fixed, Lexus will remove my radio next week so I can do some modifications on the tuner as Justin Cockett has suggested. It was my desire to enhance that brought me into contact with Justin, I supplied him the drawings and with his knowledge it must work! Must say it is for the post august 2000 models. Other stereo systems must each be reveiwed. regards Lecati
  3. Hi there, When you talk about the sports design, is this the same as the L tuned pacakges? I have seen the L-tuned and it definitly looks the the same as your nice car. The L tuned come with the OZ Lexus badged wheels, verrrry nice. I have different wheels on my GS too but still cannot locate centre caps with a Lexus logo. All the best with your 430! Lecati
  4. HI EVERYONE Last week installed the Taurus system on my GS300 II together with the Local Lexus dealer. who by the way didn't beleive it would work, We first made a mock-up on the outside and it proved working perfectly. Bumper was removed, the strip was attached in the bumper and the leads where run through the car at the air vents behind the bumper. The control unit was placed in the left pocket of the boot and the lead with speaker was mounted behind the pillar at the rear door. Since the volume is pretty high there is no need to trace the lead up front. The system works perfectly, giving clear indication even when a child passes behind the car. I still have to experiment with the sensitivity though because I don't know what the difference is when you adjust this. As result my dealer was very enthousiastic about the system, since their own system costs roughly 700 Euro. Further more you cannot detect that there is a system on board leaving the car with the nice original look. Rating: 1-10: 10! Time needed by dealer: 2 hours. Costs for system: approx. 90 pounds regards Lecati
  5. Hello all, Still in the pursuit of enhancing the radio quality of the standard radio of the GS series II I am looking if somebody recently have taken out the radio and written down the pioneer part number. I could very weel use this so i can then request the circuit drawing of this particular radio. I have discussed this with Justin Cockett who has done the modification on the series 1 but he and I are not sure if the circuits are the same. I think they are but if anyone can help me with this I would be very happy. since I really get annoyed listening to the radio, it really sounds awfull for such a good car. I managed to get Lexus Holland interested but I will have to bring all information to them, they can then decide to endorse the modification and still let the warranty apply or not. Any help out there? Regards Lecati
  6. Hi there, I just happned to have had the same at two different occassions; Whilst running the car on Yokohama's Advan I had similar experience only after 16000 km's. The problem was that the tyres are prone to "cerbing" ( like the word cerbstones!) You could feel it when running your hand over the tyres threads; one way they are quite smooth, go in the opposite direction you will feel a certain roughness on the threads. I had two problems: running too long with underinflated tyres, and not switching tyres from front to back to create a even wear pattern. 2nd occassion; I changed over just two weeks ago from 16: to 17" wheels including Bridgestone Potenza S03 245/45/17 tyres. Just today I had to return for a rebalance since a new wheel /tyre combination always needs some time to wear in, (the words from the dealer..) Bottom line; it helped. regards Lecati
  7. Sorry people, But of course I didn't mean hub caps but the center caps! the size is still about 74,6 mm = 2" 7/8 or 2" 15/16 inner diameter of the hub bore. So I am still looking for center caps with Lexus logo to put on my new alloys. Does anyone know which way to look for this item? regards Lecati
  8. Hi, I just bought a pair of Stil-Auto 5+5 wheels, but instead of the standard hub-cap with the Stil-Auto logo i am looking for Lexus caps. Can anyone help me out. The diameter is slightly bigger; the bore is 74,6mm or 2"15/16. anyone ideas? regards Lecati
  9. Hi everyone, My question is; I'm thinking to over to 17" rims but I wonder which tyre to put on them. On my IS I always used the Potenza RE40, but the standard fit on my GS300 is Yokohama (225/55R16) What should I choose? Again Bridgestone? or are there better alternatives. I am thinking of 245/45 R17. bye Lecati
  10. Hi everyone, A few questions here; I have a GS300 (last model) with the standard 16" wheels. they too are prone to corrosion. I am thinking to go to the 5 spoke GS430 wheels, but my dealer in all honesty said, that they are also worthless and very expensive too! A) Does anyone have the same problems on the GS series too? B) I am thinking about 17" 10 spoke wheels from the Italian Stil-Auto, does anyone know them, and have any experience with them? They are certainly handsome, and as I am told the quality is good. The question further is; where could I find the centercap with the Lexus logo to match the hole of the new set of wheels? The diameter is 60mm. Further, the cd player sometimes does not take self burned CD's , what is wrong with that? Also I find the quality of sound not of the same level as in the IS series, what can one do to enhance the sound. The feeling I have is that the dynamic is lost in comparison to the IS series. Any suggestions??? best regards, Lecati
  11. Hello there, I live in Holland and the official car kit fore the GS is a Motorola telephone, which is located in the arm rest. Very very expensive (1700 Euro's) And you will probably need a dual SIM card for the telephone which you take with you. the solution is simple, there are very good looking telephone rests for sale where you can mount virtually any telephone on. These are specially made for Lexus , same color as console. No screwing in the console or whatsoever. together with a mute box, this works great and looks good. just located left or right from the center console at gearlever height. I have a siemens tel mounted in the car with the microphone hidden in the ceiling just next to the interiour light. regards Lecati
  12. I am member!!!! Just very recently so I don't know where to look! Please help me here. regards Lecati
  13. Hi everyone, I have noticed that these so-called PIAA bulbs are quite good. At least I see that a lot you have them installed. What is the difference between the white and platinum type bulbs and most important! Where can purchase these? I live in Holland. regards Lecati
  14. Hi everyone, Currently I am test driving a GS300 Executive 2002, to replace my Is200. My question is. Does anybody sympathize with me that the radio just sounds awful for such a good car?! The CD is great. I can't find it but it seems that this one is equipped with a Mark levinson system. What can one do to enhance the radio? Because hearing the CD indicates that the speakers are great. (I would says nearly as great as an IS series!) The car I have in mind is not equipped with the Levinson system I believe, does that make much difference in quality? I hope this improves because I don't like it much if the radio is not Ok, on the other hand it drives great. regards Lecati
  15. Hello all, I could use some help here, I currently drive a 2002 IS200 Sport, but since my family in growing I am looking at a GS300. Does this makes sense? I am looking for the width of the car to at least put three childs seats in. But my worries are; what about the car? Is it as good as the IS series? I really would hate to the IS go, but it is a small car. What about running costs or noted problems (like the corrosion on the 17 " wheels of the IS) does the GS, 2001 and up have any notorious problems? waiting for some new light on the subject Lecati
