  1. im going to try and get a heat reading, then you'll see just how hot.
  2. Does anyone know if there’s a shut off switch for the heated wing mirrors on an ‘S’?? Only recently noticed that they were extremely hot (I can’t touch them for more than 5 seconds without feeling the burn!!). Has anyone else experienced such a problem/occurrence??
  3. we have a winner. cheers mate, just made my life a whole lot easier should i have to go to Lexus for the bits
  4. cheers. The ones on my motor have gone all brittle (probably due to the age and mileage of the car). I'll do a post in the buy / sell forum now and try a couple of scrap yards this weekend.
  5. Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the plastic covers that sit either side of the engine are? The one on the left is the one which goes around the oil cap and has VVT-I on it, the other is on the right but not sure what it covers. I cant make it to Leeds until the weekend so thought id try on here before calling up and trying to explain to the useless :tsktsk: that works on the parts counter there.
  6. Next is the spark plugs i think (for the fuel economy), although when I don't know as the wife goes on maternity leave in 4 weeks so money gets a lot tighter. The brake calipers are also gonna be painted over the summer (when I can decide on the best colour for my car, probably blue) I know its not the place for this question but thought i'd get away with it as its been mentioned in the thread! But do spark plugs really improve fuel economy?? I thought they were only used for starting a car :eerrrmm: I did my calipers blue look awesome on a Plat' Ice IS, although Brettster had afew things to say about my choice of colour
  7. I know that when buying a brand new car you get to chose the reg (my mother has just bought an SLK and got to choose) but would they ever get delivered pre-registered?
  8. First thing to find out is who registers the cars!? ie, Dealership or the manufacturing plant. Might be worth you stating the area that the car was first registered in. As most of them were probably sale's rep/exec's cars back in the day, would stand to reason that it was a particular dealership.
  9. P38Aaron was the guy who originally contacted me. cant remember his numbers though! if you dont mind posting the full reg stick it on. and ill add them to my first post.
  10. After being on the site for just a couple of days i was asked about my registration as it ended with the same letters as someone else on here. as it turned out the whole registration was just a couple of numbers out. Whilst driving at the weekend i saw another IS with the same letters at the end so thought id start a thread to see how many of us are out there. So if you have a registration that ends in DNW and more specifically starts with a T reply to the post. Here's what we have so far: Corsavandal - T595 DNW Continuity - T DNW P38Aaron - T DNW
  11. same here, but its all about quality and not quantity! i have just the one in the car as 5 round my area would be an invitation for little scally wags to come a knocking.
  12. what colour is the car?? i go black as the sections you're replacing are already black and should give you a good indictation on the colour scheme, silver mesh looks a little chavy-come-boy-racer, thats just my opinion though. also what paint do you use for spaying the ront lights? can you spray the headlight cluster too or just the fogs?
  13. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-FRONT-BR...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAKE-DISCS-PADS-REA...1QQcmdZViewItem these should help.
  14. i was going to change my disc's to mintex to accompany my new pads, but decided to stick with the Lex' ones! Not sure if you know but the standard disc's on your IS200 will be the same as the one's used on the GS range!!! In short, keep what you have and change pads to get less dust, unless you want asthetics and would like something Drilled and Grooved!
  15. Does anyone know where to find the info on fitting them? specifically where in the car i can find the ground and power cables to jack into!?!?
  16. i did the blue light conversion with my last car, but never got fed up with it.mind you it was alot easier than doing it to the lex, so Brett's told us. something to do with the bulbs wearing jonny's. just added the parrat to the dash tonight too. another assist for the artist formally known as bretty six brake lights.
  17. I recently visted Lexus Leeds for a VSR and unpon completion of the inspection the service manager (not sure if i should give his name or not, so im not) took some details and wrote my IS200's chasis number on a small credit card typr thing. He handed it to me and said it was a scheme they were running for cars over 3years old and out of warrenty, and it entitled me to 15% off ALL parts bought for the IS! I was well shocked that i was getting something for nothing! :D followed by a little annoyance that id spent on gold membership to get the same discount, before i realised how good the site is, and hppy i am to be able to support the growth of it! Love the LOC Is anyone else's local dealerships doing this scheme or are we in Leeds the lucky one's??
  18. if i understand properly there are rust spots on the disc pad surface on the inside face? or do u mean on the central body of the disc and not on the areas where the pad contact? you understand perfectly! on the face of the disc where the pad would contact! this is why i think it'll go with new rear pads only. plus, there's no loss of braking either.
  19. They can although even with traction control off its difficult unless you get some forward momentum happening first as the flaming car keeps gripping! Quite hard to do if you're starting off stationary too! But that might just be my in-experience. The IS250 however, WILL do them on a dry concrete surface from a stationary position! i recommend using the car park at Harry Ramsdon's in Guiseley. :D oh and a courtesy car always help.
  20. the thread near this that i started no contains shots of mine. simple but looks great. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=41354
  21. thanks. looks better the more i look at it. and to think i almost didnt go for the Alpine unit. so then guy's red or blue illumination??
  22. Here they are, pore picture quality due to :tsktsk: camera. however you get the gist. I really would recomend this unit to anyone wanting to upgrade their stock stereo to something other than a touch screen or an in-dash DVD player!
