  1. yup Tony is the man to sort that out. Send him a pm and he will book you in :)
  2. nope sorry. Manufacturing/Project engineer in the ever shrinking automotive industry. meh.
  3. Well thats made my day, gonna be made redundant in two weeks. Mrs P is due in 9 weeks. Just what i **** needed. . Engineers used to be respected like doctors, what the **** happened to that eh! moderators note *please refrain from bad language *
  4. changing the colour temperature shouldn't change the light output whatsoever, but your eye responds differently to different colour temps, so it may appear brighter. Sorry for the pedantry :)
  5. I want to have a go at this too. Any chance you can post some pics of the repair method?
  6. thats actually a really clever solution, and problem solving method. If, after trying the 'blanket' method, the lamps fog up again then the breather holes are blocked. IF they only fog up again when it rains then you probably have a leak through the front. Personally I wouldn't go buying new lamps just for that problem, it should be fixable. I can't speak for the Lexus but quite a lot of Japanese lights have a small rubber tube that bends 90 degs down, and are just pushed over a tube coming out of the light. The rubber tube contains a plastic 'moss' that lets the light breathe but prevents water getting in. It could be just a simple case that the rubber tube has dropped off. Either way you have a couple of methods of repairing it.
  7. I'll be there when someone arranges a meet that doesn't clash with my busy social life lol. Can't make the 10th June but I'll go for the next one definitely.
  8. Moisture builds up in headlamps when it cannot breathe, usually a headlamp will have two holes in it that are usually covered in a shield or labyrinthe to stop running water getting in. What I would recommend is to check that the breather holes are clear, if they are then most likely a leak path past the lens through between the interface between the lens and housing, then water will tend to get in during wet conditions but not be able to dry out in time through the breather holes. If you have had the headlamp lens off to do a mod this would be the most likely cause. Whip the lamp off and run a bead of silicon sealent or mastic around to seal any holes. If you wish to cut an additional breather hole in the lamp make it as big as possible (for laminar flow of air) but try and do it so any water can't get in. You can buy Gore tex pads if you are in the industry to stick over the hole and allow it to breath, but i've never seen them available privately. Hope this helps Bod: Is that £100 per headlight or for a set of 2. The hardcoat on the lenses of mine is de-laminating and I was looking to replace.
  9. Its one of those welsh names with too many L's :)
  10. Oh right. Thanks guys. Means an hour of programming to get the place in Wales I am going to this weekend :)
  11. The TRD kit was on the car when I bought it. I thought it was standard on the Sport, is it an aftermarket and not standard on the Sport? Looking at some images on Google you might be right, It appears different to normal IS Sports. Well you learn something every day :)
  12. No I understand now. What surprised me was the fact Mrs P noticed from the passenger seat. Had a nice drive stuck in M1 traffic on the way home tho :( Thanks again Tony, see you in a couple of K.
  13. thanks mate. Had a cursory love affair with my mkII Golf but I'm falling fast for this one. I really want to get the calipers painted but i have no time at the moment. grrrr
  14. I must be getting confused with company car sat nav.
  15. Next is the spark plugs i think (for the fuel economy), although when I don't know as the wife goes on maternity leave in 4 weeks so money gets a lot tighter. The brake calipers are also gonna be painted over the summer (when I can decide on the best colour for my car, probably blue) Next after that I want to get HID's and some LED rear lights, but I don't really like the DEPO ones so I have been talking to www.mmsportonline.com but I don't think their lights are legal in the UK. (And they have stopped answering my email) I also need to get the paintwork retouched as it has got quite a few nicks. Don't know after that :) I just want to get it nice and tidy and running well before I go crazy wit teh neons lolz :)
  16. just a shade over £100, expensive but worth it for peace of mind i reckon, and it should save on tyres too.
  17. I went to program my satnav with Tony's address on Saturday and went to put in the postcode (which I thought I had done before), but I couldn't find the option to do it. Am I going mad or does the satnav only take addresses not postcodes? If I update the Satnav DVD does it give you the facility to put postcodes in or is it just a map data upgrade?
  18. I have the same problem, took the car back to the dealer and the method he told me was the same. But it happens so rarely on mine I may leave it for a bit then go back to the dealer with better evidence (or closer to the end of the warranty)
  19. Thanks mate. Hopefully I'll be able to show it off at the next Midlands meet after the one on Sat.
  20. Is that sarcasm or genuine? :) Genuine, I think its great when someone can add something unique to their car. Nice one. Completely custom too from a woman called Kate who redrew them to get the size right from my avatar picture, cost about £15 for 6 internal stickers and 6 external ones (which I may or may not use) , I've got the web address at home if anyone wants it. oh and thank you :)
  21. Don't you call a TRD bodykit and a sports grille external mods? Its a sport model so I thought they would come as standard :) (Or does it still count if it was on when i bought it lol)
  22. Well I spent four hours cleaning and detailing the car on Friday, so I thought it would be the best time to take some photos and post them up at the moment. No external mods at the moment but nonetheless thought you might like to see my pride and joy (Well until Aug 16th anyway). Front view (Sorry bout the pic quality) Front side Rear Clarion ICE (which replaced knackered standard stereo) No CD changer but it has an MP3 connection which is more useful to us ICE flipped up to accept CD's And finally, Recognise this? Subtle but classy I reckon. Next job is to paint the calipers. Hope you like her!
  23. Got up on a beautiful summers morning on Saturday for the long drive down from Worcester to Watford. After a bit of confusion as to whether Tony was in Watford (or his new premises at Hemel), I got there on time, I met Tony who is a lovely bloke and he put my Lexus up on the ramp. The initial car set up, as you would expect, was pretty far out against Tony's exacting specification, and this explained why the car felt skittery around damp roundabouts. Even though the car had new tyres when we bought it a couple of months ago, they were already showing significant signs of wear on the inside. Talking me through the problems and the process of setting it up correctly, only scaring me a bit when he started waving the Oxy torch underneath the car, he set about getting the specs as close to nominal as possible, and an hour and a half after arriving I set off back to the Wu. Well the difference was immediately noticeable, previously the front wheels of the car felt very light on the road, with the resistance on the steering wheel changing as you changed the lock. Also the braking didn't feel too solid. Now the car feels solid on the road, wandering less, and feels like its going in a straight line. The difference was so marked that even Mrs P noticed it when she got in the passengers side later that day. She described it best by saying the car doesn't feel like its on its tiptoes but has it foot firmly on the ground. (I explained cars have wheels not feet but there you go). Much much nicer to drive, much more confident and solid, the braking feels better and the car feels much more agile than it did. Money well spent IMO. Thanks Tony.
