  1. whats the deal with the park attractions? are they included or extra fees??
  2. no. i want them covered. i do have the option at a later stage to put grills on but i like the fact that they are hidden.
  3. THERE IN!! sounds superb on films!! i will definitely look for some better matching trimming cloth as im not happy with this but wasnt bad for a last minute find. at the moment i cant have the centre and the rears wired in at the same time so im sourcing a second amp to run these. it will be wired to a relay switch on the HU so that it only comes on with video or when specifically selecting it so not spoiling the SQ when listening to music. my other job that this has created is relocating the little white box that sits behind the drivers side pillar. I think its the 'noise filter for the rear window defogger'. I have no idea what it does or if relocating it will cause any problems. i guess time will tell! so there we go incar cinema sound.. now for my next trick.. hmmm
  4. midday update whilst having a break form the sun!! i managed to get some acoustic cloth this morning and trimmed the panels.. i still wanted a stealthy look and without suing fiberglass to build up the edges this was the best i think i can get it.. its not a perfect colour match but not far off. im hoping once in and the rear is tinted further, it shouldnt be too noticeable in the car as this was taken in direct sunlight both panels inside so they dont get covered in dirt whilst i carry on with the wiring.. should be all complete this afternoon then onto the testing..
  5. i knew that oem parts can be expensive but £60m for pads!!
  6. youve answered all your own questions mate.. buy cheap, buy twice.. a good CD based double din shouldnt cost any more than £200... if you want DVD expect to pay in the region of £350 +. The more you want from it the more it will cost.. let us know a budget and the MUST HAVE features and im sure we can suggest something
  7. this was a lot easier than i thought and if i had the trimming cloth it would be finished already! i dont want to cut the original covers so i need to find a good match for the oem cloth..
  8. quite the opposite. ive found when fitting to the oem speakers that they sound better with a good Heah Unit. Ive done 5 of these now and everybody was happy with it! It may be the HU you are using or that you are turning it up too much and expecting too much from them.. Whats the HU?
  9. i like the idea of a cruise but why not do it from south to north and have diff clubs / members join for sections along the way. im sure you could get a few clubs to hold meets along the way. would almost be a cannonball run type event without the speeding (i would guess) and other such hijinks!
  10. following on from this thread >> (centre channel installation), work began today on the rear speakers in the c pillar. some of you may wonder why i didnt just use 6x9's or put something in there place. well i have found that the best sound from the subs comes from giving them as much space as possible to get into the car, so through the ski hatch and the 6x9 holes. Ive also found that rears tend to work better pointing inwards, slightly off axis I picked up a spare set of pillar covers to chop up form Aztec (cheers!) that were untrimmed, possibly from an altezza. So there isnt much room behind these, just under 2 inches and the model i used for the centre speaker will not fit so i settled on a pair of shallow mount 5.25" speakers, MB Quart RUA 213. these are slightly shallower than the 6.5" version and also gave me more room to play around with positioning.. so onto the pics.. first cut and positioning you will notice some marks in black marker.. this position did fit but i wanted it to be a little higher so it needed to be recut and repositioned. MDF baffle to be attached behind the c pillar baffle with recessed tweeter housing to bring to same level as the mid.. (my life would be easier with a router!) new cutout with tweeter and the old hole 'filled'! front view awaiting trimming Baffle being bonded to the cover.. will leave overnight to give it time to set properly. Dynamatt applied so tomorrow will see the heated window thing on the other side relocated somewhere, crossovers mounted and pillar covers put in. I dont have any trimming cloth yet so this may have to wait until i can get the right colour match and i dont have an amp to drive these yet so i may have to run of the HU for now. who knows it may be enough power but i doubt it!
  11. switch the perm live and ign live in the HU loom.
  12. IMO anything less than 1.5k isnt going to be the best quality.. ive been quoted in the region 500/700 for the bonnet n front end the around £250 fpr the one side. Lexus wanted near 5K!
  13. agreed on the older models.. the 9th gen Kuro Plasma only comes in 50" or 60".. these ones are far superior to the old ones
  14. great news.. pm me if you need any help and will send you my number. its fairly straightforward though, especially if you use stavs guide too.
  15. as above, does anybody have any unbranded 5.5" speaker covers that they can donate to my project? condition isnt that important as they will prob be sprayed anyway.. thanks
  16. i thought there had been some supercharger activity!! agree with the guys above.. reviving a 3month old thread is just silly and posting financial details on a public forum is just plain stupid.
  17. your all just jealous of my 99p tescos bargain drink holder..
  18. Is the CD one not also hard wired when it's in its holder? Or does it just have another IR sensor inside the place it sits? The 6 series doesn't have a cupholder either, and has a weird thing (similar to yours) that sits on the console as an option...........It does look ok though as it's aluminium or something, maybe get one of those and adapt to fit or something similar? this i like!! off to search ebay it is...
  19. I would get you one with a guarantee mate :D cost more mind :winky: sounds interesting Gord!! i will PM you once i make my mind up!!
  20. would have to be the panasonics mate.. only thing that lets them down is the sound. best tv by far is the Kuro but at 2K just for the TV with no stand (£200) or speakers (£150/£200) its a bit pricy. The good news is it uses Panasonic panels..
