  1. See your point, but the only problem with warnings is would people actually take any notice of them? You have to hit people where it hurts - in their wallet. A better suggestion than an on the spot fine would be something like you can have the option of going away, buying new legal plates and then presenting your car to the Police station within x number of days - if the correct action has been taken, then no more action is taken but the 'offence' is logged and if you're caught again having put your illegal plates back on, then get hit with a whopping fine. But, although something like this would make more sense, would the practicalities of it work?
  2. I'm just glad he had no real criminals to go after at the time. Maybe I'll sleep with my car unlocked tonight because England is finally clear of crims. Although stupid as it is that he had nothing better to do, the rules say you can't change your numberplate. If you choose to ignore the rules you have to accept whatever consequences the governments bank manager deems is necessary at the time. I know it's ridiculous, but that's life.
  3. Bravo for keeping your cool. I'd have lost all sense of rationality.
  4. Looks like an item that may have been on an auction without buy it now or best offer and someone has offered to buy it at a set price and the seller has advertised it specifically for them to come and buy it. Just a suggestion.
  5. I too and read it wrong and misunderstood. I extend my apologies also. Tony that summary has made it clearer and now it makes a lot more sense. Thanks. I think in threads like this the pattern of events often becomes very disjointed and difficult to follow. Having a brief summary is a huge benefit on a long thread. Now I can see why you're so p****d off. Sorry for any confusion.
  6. Why does he need to change his ebay ID to sell car parts?
  7. All entirely possible hypotheses. But I'm pretty sure the gentleman involved knew exactly what car it was (they can't have that many RX300 rear differentials that are FOC from Lexus and shipped via Leeds). But then why did the controller who witnessed the conversation and had two 10 minute conversations about the same, then deny the conversations ever took place 2 days later? Furthermore why the complete lack of documentation of the differential on my paperwork, why make efforts to cover up what has been said, and why make efforts to not release any paperwork they have that may prove (or otherwise) their case. Would you want to drive your children around in a £38,000 car with state of the art safety, with a part that may have recovered from a vehicle that has been written off? Just because a car is written off doesn't mean every single part on it is broken. All a write off means is that the car cannot be economically repaired. It's like I said before, someone has to put their name to saying a part is safe, ask yourself this question - would you put your name, career and mortgage on the line signing off a part you weren't totally sure about and hadn't passed quality control inspection subsequently risking all of the above plus possible criminal charges against negligence and so on? I understand your concern, I just think you are being unreasonable in the circumstances of refusing a replacement part that they're giving you for free - which from as much as I can get by reading the threads, they're under no obligation to do.. If you're that concerned about it, get them to fit the part and then trade the car in and buy something else. That's what I'd do in your circumstances. I think you're very lucky Lexus hasn't just turned round and withdrawn the offer by now. I'm not going to say anything about documents as that's between you and them. Just to note that I'm not defending Lexus - if you have been treated as you describe then that's very poor customer service and deserves to be publicised and you should expect a satisfactory solution - however that may require a bit of give and take. As someone has already said, welcome to the underworld of the dealer network. PS I still don't think naming individual Lexus employees on the public forums is very professional or necessary.
  8. that is fair enough if the data is being input by hand in the first instance, but when the data is electronically gathered and stored then surely hand written notes would only be an inferior back up and totally subject to mistakes or falsities That's a good point, but surely the risk of human error in writing something by hand is the same risk as typing something into a computer wrong? Both carry risks of error. Deliberate falseties is a different matter altogether, both mediums are prone to that if entering things manually. Electronic automatic capture is more difficult to do this with. (I'd have thought anyway?!)
  9. Bit uncalled for I think? I asked a perfectly civil question and see no reason for a bitchy comment.
  10. Good luck Fella. Well lots of fireworks came over, no Fire's mind, roll on tonight again :duh: Tut tut tut. When will they learn? Can't blame ignorance - the dangers of mucking about with fireworks are clearly publicised. Those who mess around with them and get injured are always the first to blame everyone else for their misfortune. Hope you have a hassle free night.
  11. Bonfire night is great fun. Why would anyone not love fireworks and sparklers and bonfires as long as they're used safely????? I do think they should be restriced to public displays though, they're a nuisance in the wrong hands.
  12. Paper documentation is more than sufficient. Medical notes, Police reports and so on are all hand written. Electronic documentation is a different minefield and many companies opt for handwritten records above electronic ones. What medium the records are on is of absolutely no significance to a case. Robs Lexx - yes they can be retrospectively altered in the same way you can saw your own leg off if you want but that is also of no significance. If something is documented then it happened at the time unless damming evidence can be found to the contrary.
  13. Good point. I should have said that but forgot. Thanks for clarifying.
  14. I wouldn't buy an Arrow, buy one of the Concepts. If money no object the 950 + intellistart (probably end up being £700 odd fitted) or one of the Avantgardes.
  15. Just a silly suggestion, have you contacted What Car helpdesk? This does sound like a very complicated situation to be in. Does actually go to prove that maybe Lexus aren't quite as good as they're made out to be. Any dealer/manufacturer can offer good service when things are fine, but a real test of how good they are is when things go wrong. If you have any further phone conversations, record them on a dictaphone and they can be used in your case. Doing that saved my bacon once with Evesham Computers so I'd always say it's a good thing to try.
  16. I'd love to work in the BBC complaints department to write to complainers and tell them all what I really thought of them. You don't like someone's sense of humour, don't watch them. Simple as that. I'm sorry but every joke is derogatory to someone. Men, women, black people, white people, scots, welsh, irish, blondes, christians, muslims, homosexuals, heterosexuals need I go on????????? A joke pokes fun at someone, what's the biggie? It's light hearted fun. To everyone that complains, a) get a life and b ) get out more.
  17. I had a Clifford Concept 500 on my 307 years ago. Was a good system. Get the latest one with Intellistart.
  18. That's not exactly what you'd want to hear when you took your car in I'll admit!!! Be like walking into your GP's only for the receptionist to tell you the doctor had just left a job as in ice cream man!!
  19. Come on, with my views on safety, I'd have a nervour breakdown after 100 yards.
  20. It did look suspicious I agree, but whatever happened Hamilton won and he is a worthy winner - glad to have the glory back from the Germans. Regarding his girlfriend, the amount of pressure he was under I'm not suprised he was a bit less than attentive. After doing what he did he would not have been capable of thinking rationally. Bravo to him.
  21. I'm not so sure to be honest. I think Lexus have actually been unnecessarily generous in offering what they have given the circumstances. If the car was missold and is clearly stated as a brand new car on the purchase invoice then yes, you have a right to court action, but with their repair offers, I think they're more than generous. I would consider the fact that you're not meeting them half way. I can understand your concerns, but I think they may be somewhat unsubstantiated. Just my opinion from the information given and having had an insiders glimpse into dealing with complaints (albeit not motor vehicles). Oh another thing, you say in your letter that you demand to know the reasons 'Nigel' left the employment - not your business I'm afraid. You almost are making it appear to be a personal attack to many people. You won't get anywhere like that.
  22. :o :o :o :o :o I know the other drivers are bad but cmon, you're not sure about the motorcyclist Keith ? Oh I don't deny that the motorcyclist has the same road skills as roadkill but his poor standard is just one in a 1 minute clip of lots of other poor standards. I wouldn't like to drive on the same road as any of them. I wouldn't drive in India - I've heard it's just the scariest thing you can do.
  23. Just a probing question, would anyone be up for another little meet at Miford on Cannock Chase before Christmas? I'd quite like one to see some faces again. What are people's thoughts?
  24. Tony, do you do all cars or just Lexus? Say for example do you do Volvo S80's????
  25. I'm not quite so sure it's the motorcyclist who's the problem. The driver of the videoing car is in no way shape of form an observant or safe driver - he's all over the place, that little silver thing at the start that comes from the nearside lane pulled out without looking as did the white car towards the end. All cars were too close and whatever country that's from hardly anyone in there was driving safely.
