Hi all who having VSC problems and ref my last post! I went to Lexus Hull and was told for sure it was the CATALITIC CONVERTER or PARTICULATE FILTER which is actually part of the cat anyway. Original quote Lexus HULL was £1,900 (***** turpin comes to mind) went to meet with service manager who git down to £1200. I went away seacrhed the NET and found one from a smashed rear end car in a breakers, covered only 18,000miles. Had it fitted for £100 and hey presto so far all is ok. Lexus refused to replace under any warranty!!!! ive now covered some 140,000 since March 2007 and ready to get rid of the damn thing!!! 5 EGR VALVES ALSO FITTED!!!!! NOW REAR SHOCKER HAS GONE AND THE AIRCON! Not that we need it in the Snow anyway ADVISE!!! When the CHECK VSC ligts came on the service manger told me that this is a warning that a log has been stored in the computer, depending on the log it will place the car in get home mode where you willcrawl home or attempt to anyway! I havent tried this but i was told if this happens disconnect the battery for 10mins and it will clear the fault allowing the car to drive normal until you can get it to Lexus for them to rip you off!!! Take a spanner with you in the car to take the batt terminals off! Cheek of the sales guy though suggested i try the 09 model, far better engine he said !!! and will give me £5000 for my current car that cost £24,000 not even 3 years ago!!!!! MM i think its time to go back to the German machines!

I have now covered 135,000 in my 07 is220d and have never had a car with so many EGR Valves been replaced and now i get the same warning on my dash! Normally when this happens (5 times now) the car goes into limp home mode which basically limits the revs and you cant go much higher than 30mph! This time this has not happened, travelling 2 days ago on the A1 wetherby the lights came on, CHECK VSC knowing this fault i turned around and headed to HULL LEXUS! There was no change in the engine performance this time!!! only a matter of time i thought. When i got to Lexus Hull they placed it on the computer and cleared the fault to proceed and tell me i needed a NEW CATALITIC CONVERTER AT £1,900 FITTED!!!!! WOW! Now i know these things dont fail on 2 year old cars despite the miles covered, so i went away saying id get back to them, after googling on the internet i found a very helpful chap in northampton who supplied cats . he told me that there was no way that this would have failed but it was prob teh Particulate Filter just before the Cat. I thanked him them called another dealer STOKE LEXUS near my office who confirmed that this was the case and gave me a quote of £800 a littel different to HULL Yesterday i took my car to a independent garage next to my office who i have used for many years !!!! tells the truth!............ he actually removed the whole exhaust and examined the filter cat etc ...clean as a whist...you can run your finger inside the pipes and its carbon free!!!!! SO MY QUESTION IS ...............WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT THIS TIME????????????????? Cant be the EGR Valve again as i had this replced 3 months ago, i know where it is so took the 4 bolts off and its clean!!!! who is robbing who and who is telling the truth? Now i drove today to worcester from HULL and the wrning has apeared again but drives ok!!!! any ideas? reason i womnt get lexus to look is the cost and its out of warranty!!!! oh and why Lexus Hull try charge me nearly £2000 .....dodgy!!!

YEAR 2007 !!!!! Well yes its true ive now covered 115,000 miles mainly motorway miles and im now about to have a 3rd EGC Valve! Not from Lexus at £537 fitted though. Today driving to High Wycome the usual happened after so many miles CHECK VSC and the car went into limp home mode. Wouldnt rev abouve 2k and very embarising yet again on the M40. I stopped and called lexus who informed me Lexus OXFORD was the closet dealer. I called them , managed to limp there to be told that the EGC was broke yet again for the 3rd time. Last time was at XMAS as pulled into a airport carpark. The mecahnic at oxford showed me the problem , all clogged up!!! excuss was must have used inferrioe oil!!! Not so! surely these things are under warranty? Lexus would not entertain a 3rd one fitting free as its out of the warranty due to miles. My argument is that the EGC fitted at XMAS has only covered 25,000 but they were having none of it! £537 english piund to fix!!!! i told the mechanic to clean best he could and put back, in the meantime i called my local NON LEXUS garage who have got a original for £200 for me Has anyone else had probs with the EGC VALVE? Can it be blanked off? Receptionist at OXFORD LEXUS stated the IS220D HAD MANY MANY PROBLEMS Apart for 3 breakdowns and bad fuel econ the car has been fine upto 115k ANDY

According to Lexus Hull my Air conditioning condenser needs replacing. I took the car in after i noticed the temp was not getting as low as it should. Some weeks prior i removed a piece of wood from inthe grill under the front number plate. thi thing came heading into the car whilst travelling on the motorway! Now for the shock...Lexus will not replace under warranty because its classed as damaged!!!!! The bill will be £650 I THINK ILL WIND THE WINDOW DOWN!!!! So my question is does anyone know where i can get one of these items cheaper that £650 ...anyone have a IS220D yet which is breaking for spares??? Thanks Andy

I have IS220D with standard wheels which look to small, anyone got any se wheels or larger wheels for sale?

20K Service from Hull Lexus on my 07 IS220D was £270 plus vat..........only got the car in april and clocking up the miles!

Lexus Chester wanted £297 for painting a rear bumper not including supplying a new one, I think you could find your price a little light. Anyway why not claim off the insurance, still bound to be cheaper than paying for it, even with the excess. Someone might even have driven in to the car while you where not present. :winky: well considering chris ACTUALLY works in a dealership, i think you may find his price is totally Bob on for a new bumper well i know the bumper price is correct as ive just looked it up ;) so if you add vat plus paint and labour Hi guys (caps locke off now) took the car to a body shop and he can repair the bummper and repaint for £370 +vat he tells me a new bumper would cost around £900 from lexus...not priced up yet ! any advise chaps ? what do you think a total new one would cost?

OK SO DESPITE HAVING ACAMERA FITTED I STILL HIT A CONCRETE POST AND HAVE CRACKED THE BUMPER JUST BY THE REFLECTIR LIGHT. LOCAL BODY SHOP TELL ME IT WILL PROB NEED A NEW BUMPER SO DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET A REAR BUMPER ...IN BLACK WOULD BE GOOD BUT NOT ESSENTIAL YEAR 07 REGISTERED JUNE 07 NOT BEEN TO MY LOCAL LAEXUS DEALER YET £££££££££££££££££££££ OOCH I GUESS ANYONE KNOW OR RECOMMEND ANYTHING PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANDY andy.naylor@virgin.net

hello..had jaguar x type (never again) then audi tdi....now lexus is220d collected last saturday and i have to tell you im very impressed. yes the mpg is prob not as good but only slighlty, today i avrg 43mpg sat at 80mph on the M62 ...this is also very rare i know . wobly mirror also but actually i think the rear window vibrates with the bass from the hifi system. so if you think you can live with these things then the lexus is a must....look around you on the mway . audi ...bmw... be different. if you dont like get rid but i know it wont come to that. also servicing..well the lexus guys look after you...not just a number in queu because audi and bm have so many customers they cant lookafter you correctly. shall we say a very personal approach is what gives lexus the edge. andy (hull)

hi i sell to companies who produce sheetmetal components anything from a small bracket for b and q to companies manufacturing cooker hoods, computer chassis etc. Basically any sheetmetal part that requires holes , shapes in them and bending! regards andy

HI GUYS AND GALS Just thought id say hi to you all, i took delivery of my shinny new IS220D in Black on saturday from Hull Lexus. They know how to look after you , thanks guys. Well im a sales manager for a company selling CNC Punching Machines, if any of you know what they do? I cover the UK and travel around 55,000 per yr so i guess its going to be a good test for the IS220D! I actually ordered a New Audi 170bhp TDI however they cocked the price up, i decided to test drive the Lexus and loved it to bits. Everyone has or had a Audi so i wanted to be different Since saturday i have covered 500 miles accros and forth the M62 from Hull , Leeds, Manchester. First impressions after getting used to the toys and gadgtes are good !!!!! HOWEVER: Yes i have the wobly mirror or is it? seams only bad in 6th gear but if you notice guys there is a lot of vibration from the hifi system , especially if you turn up the bass! Little annoying i suppose but im sure ill cope. 6th Gear mmmmm well i feel the car struggles in this gear and vibrates a little , today i played around in 5th and 6th, in my opinion i dont think the 6th is really needed...or maybe ill review that comment in a few weeks. Fuel economy: avg 38.9 today Hull to Nottingham little disapointed but we will see how it goes! Lexus called me out of curtosy today and i mentioned this , they said leave until run in ....so we will see! Love the car love the colour love the toys ....black a pain to clean but looks good when gleaming! Dont like so much the reg which my collegue chose as a joke whilst i was on the beach...YX07 PUF What a plonker but hey gets the smiles! good job ill be changing to my private plate when V5 comes in! No offence to those that are out there and if anyone wants to buy the plate then let me know. Ill be back ANDY........HULL
