  1. Here's the story on an email as passed to me today (still not sure of it's authenticity tho' - but just FYI) ************* Speed Camera The new electronic signs on the M6 were switched on this Tuesday. The bad news is that they are rigged with the SPECS speed cameras. This probably applies to all the new signs being installed on the M62, M60 and M56. SPECS is a computer-camera based system. As you go past the sign a digital camera reads your number plate. When you go past the next sign your number plate is read again. The computer 'knows' how far apart the signs are so it can work out your average speed between the two, or three or four. The system is fully automatic and will issue a ticket without any form of human intervention. It does this for every single vehicle that passes. You will not know you have been caught as the cameras don't flash. They work 24/7, 365 days a year, and theoretically, there's absolutely no limit on the number of tickets that the system can issue. The whole section of the M6 between Knutsford and Preston is wired, both ways. The system is set to trigger a ticket at 78MPH. (Don't take this as a guarantee) Radar detectors will be of no use as SPECS is entirely passive, there is no laser beam to detect. Be warned and spread the news!
  2. From about 8AM(ish) I'm on the M602 every morning from Eccles, then Regent Road and off down the Mancunian Way in a blue IS200. See loadsa IS's at the mo. It's almost 'common'. But not quite. I've often felt like wavin' at other IS drivers, but to be fair, I'd just feel like a :tsktsk:
  3. I did an OpenRoad at Raby Castle last week. Absolutely fantastic day.
  4. I'm working in London for a week from Saturday, so I won't be around. But one day I'll be able to do a meet! Probably.
  5. I've had no problems either with any CDRs - all 6 of mine are always CDRs. But I've not had any joy with any CDRW's.
  6. I do go in the Bluebell to watch the odd footy game. It was fantastic during the World Cup last year. I'm sure I'd have noticed your white IS - strange I've not seen it. I'll pay extra attention from now on. Out of interest, where abouts on Folly Lane d'ya park? (I'm practically opposite the 'Golden Ring' chippy, opposite 'Zip' on the corner of Folly Lane & birch Road)
  7. The Bluebell is a bit 'young' on Saturday (or anyday for that matter), but by calling in I saved myself the extra 500 yards or so I'd have had to have walked to the Drop Inn to get my first drink. There is some logic in there somehwere!
  8. I was in the Bluebell on Saturday night, before staggering round to the Drop Inn and the good old Park for 'lasties'. I live on Folly Lane as well!
  9. I bet I've driven past you on my way to/from work a few times. I tend to pass a couple of IS's on my travels! I'm in Monton! Small world.
  10. Hi everyone, I took the plunge 2 weeks ago and bought a brand new IS200 SE. Picked it up last Friday and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute I've spent in it this week! You could say I'm well impressed. Anyway, just thought I'd say 'ello. Pete
