  1. Hi, Had to share this. Its that time of year when we all want a shiny Lexus glinting in the sun, when it comes out. Trouble is the effort involved. I always have other more pressing things to do. Well I have the solution. After having a shower I noticed how shiny my hair was. So I grabbed the hair conditioner rubbed a bit about the size of a pea onto one panel and less than a minute later wiped it off with a microfibre cloth. The depth of shine was amazing. Ive since done the whole car, it only took me 1/2 an hour. You may laugh but it really does look like you have spent all day on it. Give it a go.
  2. Hi, To be honest havent mastered the options for this head unit yet. It sounds good without the sub though, and with a little tinkering it may sound even better, bear in mind I have not had a stereo in my car for the last month. My Auto Electrician owns an LS as well and when I think its as good as its going to sound I will be trying a CD in his and my car for comparison. Will only be able to tell then whether to have the sub done.
  3. Hi Steve, just spotted your post about getting rear sub working in your Ls. I think I will give the sub woofer a miss for now. Seems to sound great as it is, when the novelty has worn off who knows maybe a job for another day. Next project is to get the air con display sorted then car is 100%. Noticed lots of places in USA fix them but only know of one in the UK called Rebus. Anybody know of anywhere else in UK?
  4. Hi pic of installed head unit below, doesnt look to bad and improves the spec of the car a lot. The original stereo although good for its day really was starting to become old fashioned. mp3 connectivity is in the lowest price vehicles these days and who has cassettes?
  5. Hi All, well got new head unit installed in the car now. My Auto Electrician said it was a pig to do. The wiring adapter was wrong so he wired it in one wire at a time. The head unit fascia I was assured would fit snagged the head unit screen so also had to be altered. So all in all glad I didnt attempt it myself! Anyway all works except for the rear sub, but frankly it sounds great to me, so wont bother getting it done.
  6. Hi Rudy, youre right about the subwoofer the wiring adapter I have ordered may not work with it. We will have to see I guess, but the auto electrician I use says if it doesnt work he can either find another way to make the sub work or if the system sounds good enough then leave it unconnected. This issue with fitting new stereos to old Lexus cars is going to prove more of an issue as time goes on I guess. Anyway will post when all is installed and working.
  7. Thanks Bluesman & Steve2006, think I have found one on Amazon.com Damn sight cheaper than the one Steve2006 saw !! Have ordered it , fingers crossed will post details if it works.
  8. Hi all, have a new double din head unit for my Ls, but am struggling to find an iso adapter to fit my 94 LS400. I dont want to mess with cutting wires etc. Also some mention you lose the rear subwoofer if you fit a new headunit. Any help would be much appreciated.
  9. Hi Malc, will try and find your pics on here. Tempted to leave original after reading ambermarines comment.
  10. Hi All, I was wondering what members think about clear indicators and other bits on a pristine ls400 ? Not sure whether it would ruin it. should I just keep it original ?
  11. Thanks all for your wisdom. Going to buy a mint ls400 mk1 on Sunday. At least I hope it is as its over 500 miles from where i live. Its a 94 with 60000 miles, full history, no body damage or rust anywhere.

  18. Hi all, Just collected my 1991 LS400 on saturday, 158,000 miles with good history, & it only cost £1000. Had to go 250 miles to Wales to collect it though. All in all am delighted with the car. Ijust hope I can afford to run it. I was suprised by just how economical it was coming home. I averaged 75-80mph over 250 miles and the car returned 33mpg. I was only expecting about 25 at most. It will be interesting to see how it does around town. Amazed how cheap it is to insure as well, £208.90 with the Post Office Fully Comprehensive cover. By the way are there any members in Cornwall who can recommend a mobile mechanic or independant garage I can use for servicing etc? Happy Motoring, Mark
