  1. Well, just got my 220d Sport back after 3 days - My local Lexus dealer, Coventry, have been great - I had a 220d loan car which was only 100 miles old!! My car had various warranty work carried out - 5th injector work, new pipes, other engine bits and also a new, modified, bush that fits on the rear axle - vibration is not quite as bad as before as a result. The ECU was also flashed with the latest upgrade. Still got the vibrating mirror, but Lexus GB said that the new bracket fix is now being mass produced and will be available in early August - for those who complain, of course!! Anyway, I still maintain that these problems should not occur with cars that display prestige badges, such as Lexus. But, the customer service that I have had from Coventry has been second to none.
  2. I took my 220d into Leicester 12 months ago with this problem and was told that there was no fault and that the engine management was doing it's job correctly. There is no way this can be normal. It happens when the engine is at normal temperature aswell as when it is cold - it's completely random - there is no trigger as has been mentioned by others here. The A/C plays no part in this at all - even if the A/C is off, the idle still has a mind of it's own. My local $tealer told me that there are now newer ECU components available - which are fitted to the latest cars (even though my car is only 2 months old, it doesn't have these latest bits!!). It seems to me that Lexus are still very much developing this car!! Hope the vibrating mirror fix comes out soon, as they have promised.
  3. Yet another fault has just appeared. Brand new IS220d Sport (1500 miles old) and the idle speed just changes from about 750 rpm to 1200 rpm at random intervals when in traffic. This happens when the engine is both cold and at normal operating temperature, when the air con is both off and on, lights off and on (ie. not load dependent). Lexus have re-flashed the ECU to no avail. They are now taking the car in for 3 days to change various ECU components. Has anyone else experienced this problem??
  4. And the BMW was perfect, right.......... No, but BMW know how to treat customers! Lexus customer service is c**p. Got my car back today, has the vibrating mirror been fixed? NO!! Lexus have now said that the fix will come sometime in August - a new bracket is being made. How long does it take to fix a bloody vibrating mirror? The thing is not fit for purpose and the car should not be on the road - health and safety. Lexus know about this issue, which affects nearly all 220d cars (with the auto dimming mirror - SEL or Sport). My car has done 1500 miles and I'm very close to handing back the keys. If this were on finance, that's exactly what I would do and let the finance company sort it out with Lexus. Sorry, but as a new customer to Lexus, I am far from impressed!! The car is otherwise great.
  5. This mirror vibration is a real pain. Yes, the volume up high vibrates the rear window, but even with the music off, the mirror vibrates all over the place. My car has now done 1400 miles and I'm still waiting on Lexus to produce the fix for this mirror vibration - it shoud have been done by mid June, but there are some delays. A company that prides itself on safety - airbags all over the place, doesn't let you use satnav or phone screen whilst moving....... But, you can't even see through the bloody mirror!!! What a joke. I should have handed the car back on day 1!!!! This mirror is not fit for purpose and they had better fix it! I came from BMW for this!!
  6. My brand new Silver Lexus IS220d Sport with Multimedia and Superguard cost me £28,200. A massive saving on new and that was from a local Lexus dealer.
  7. Phoned my local Lexus dealer today and spoke to the service department. Lexus GB are aware of the mirror shake problem (especially on the diesel model) and they are working on a fix - should be done within a a couple of weeks. They will then either recall cars or fit the new mirror fixing when cars come in for service/appoinments. A result!!!!! :D
  8. I wouldnt say that all Jags are old mens car by anymeans. I brought my wife who is 24 a limited edition XS LE estate which looked the dogs bit with 18's, bodykit, tints etc. But i would still say a BIG NO to Jag because i lost £13K in 18 months which is enough to put me off them for life. I lost 25K in 16 months on an X5 - and bought a brand new Jag - 2.2d Sport Premium. Kept it for 3 weeks and rejected it on the grounds that it was completely crap!!!! Rattles everywhere, burnt oil etc etc. The local Guy Salmon Jag dealer were brilliant and gave me a full refund. I then went to a Lexus dealer and gave them 28K for a brand new 220d Sport (with Multimedia pack) - what a fantastic car!!
  9. If there is a setting it's certainly not obvious. I've been through the manual, phoned the dealer and looked through all of the menu's. Is there a hidden menu? If so, how is it accessed. I really can't understand how this could happen with such a fantastic badge/car. All we need is the voice through all speakers or an auto mute - this is not brain surgery!! A software fix should surely sort this!!!!
  10. Thanks. I'll ask the dealer to adjust it. They must be able to do something to make it better!
  11. I had new engine, clutch, flywheel, 3 sets of wheels, new front bumper, new rear lip, 3 or 4 coilpacks not bad for 26k 03 plate is200 sport from new :o And it spent over 5 WEEKS with lexus GB :o mirror was ok mind I'll trade you anything for that mirror
  12. Having had this car for 1 day I can honestly say that it is one of the most comfortable and solid car that I have ever driven (and I've driven some very expensive cars!). But, I have to moan about this Sat Nav volume level - it's set to 7 (which is the max, right?) and, with the stereo playing (and that is a great stereo!!), I can't hear that sexy babes voice when she is giving directions. Is there a setting to mute the stereo? Or is this yet another unfit for purpose system (like the vibrating rear view mirror!!)?
  13. This vibrating mirror is a joke. It's not fit for purpose and they'll have to fix it!!!! Apart from that though, the car is amazing. I have had the 3 series BMW, an old 328, the newer 330d and the E46 M3 convertible - I had numerous problems with all of them. Not least the M3 - new engine, 2 clutches, new diff, rattles from just about everywhere etc etc. I've got to say, the build quality of the Lexus looks far superior!!
  14. Thanks for your comments. I'll phone the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do about it. This is obviously a common problem that Lexus must surely know about?? With the health and safety that's built in to the Lexus - can't set a destination whilst driving, can't use the telephone key pad whilst driving etc etc you'd think they would bloody sort out the fact that you can't use your rear view mirror whilst driving!!!!
  15. Picked up my Lexus today - 220d Sport with the MM package. What a great car! The hand over was great, no champagne though. Never mind, everything else was good, the car was prepared well, Suparguarded etc etc. Drove away from the dealer - late afternoon (after service dept. had finished for the day) and noticed that the rear view mirror was vibrating quite violently. At higher speeds on the motorway it is very difficult to see what is behind me. I have read a few similar threads on here. Has anyone had this problem resolved? New mirror, adjustment...? Apart from this minor problem, the car is fantastic. I'll post some pics tomorrow if it's not raining.
  16. I've been driving BMW's for 15 years and am fed up with them - when purchasing a new BMW, you start with a basic shell and then double the price by adding leather, sat nav, electrics etc etc etc I have just got rid of my X5 and purchased an IS220D Sport with the multimedia pack - The silver one (can't remember the name of the colour - something ice?) with black interior. I pick it up next Saturday and can't wait!!!! I had never even thought about purchasing a Lexus before. Went out round all the various dealers last week (Jag, BMW, Mercedes, Porsch, etc etc) and then saw Lexus - thought I'd give them a try. Test drove the IS220d SE and fell it love with the drive - amazing. Also, the gizmo's in the car - keyless entry etc - all standard - amazing. So, credit card out........ Can't wait till Saturday. I'll post some pics when I get it.
