Annual Servicing costs
passman53 replied to Asi17's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Hello, how about Lexus Essential Care? Major service £425, minor is £225 and yes you do get the book stamped. Look it up on the Lexus site. It also gives fixed prices for things like brake pads. Pete -
Soon to be new car in the fleet

Hello, I recently changed my GS450 for a RX450 and I have no regrets. Obviously the performance is not as good but I find its so relaxing to drive that I really don't mind taking a few extra minutes on my journey. I'm sure you won't regret your decision. Oh, mine is black so not the best colour for someone who hates washing cars. -
Hello, I purchased a warranty in March last year on the advice of the service manager at my local dealer. Six months later it went in for a service when I was advised I needed one rear shock absorber and a new water pump. I asked if these items were covered and after 20 minutes got a phone call back to say Lexus warranty had confirmed both items were covered and the job was done the same day. I did ask about replacing the pair of shocks but as only one was leaking that was all that could be changed. So whilst agreeing I only needed one changing It was done with no quibble. I must say I think the wear and tear argument is very poor and not what I would expect. Best idea is to have the MOT done elsewhere. Pete

Hello, The bad news first. After two years I now need to change my car for something higher as I am having back problems. Its a 2007 (07) 450 SE. The car is in silver with black leather. I am the third owner. Its not perfect and needs work on the front bumper (stone chips) a tiny dent on the front wing and corner of back bumper. I have been quoted £250 by the local body shop to do the lot so you can tell its not much that needs doing. The seats are unmarked with no tears or rips. At the moment the mileage is 89,500. It has full Lexus service history and just to re-assure you is covered by a Lexus warranty until march next year. This can be renewed if you wish -- I think its worth the cost for the peace of mind it gives. Obviously there are no issues mechanically as anything would have been put right by Lexus. The next service is due in September and is the minor one. Despite having searched the house I cannot find the spare key so assume it only has one though I'm still looking. I understand that I cannot expect top price as it stands but after looking at what's available on E bay and Autotrader, I don't think I'm being greedy asking £5,500. If any one is interested either Pm me or preferably phone on 07795 292241 up to 10 pm. any messages will be answered. And the good news, I'm am buying a RX450, so will be staying in the club. Pete

Hello, I've been away a couple of days so sorry if I'm repeating something you all know. I am looking at the front page of my local paper reading about Mr Umar Ijaz who has pleaded guilty at Dudley magistrates court to "supplying a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition" and two offences relating to professional diligence and misleading descriptions. He has been fined £1,050, ordered to pay £640 compensation and £40 victim surcharge. According to the newspaper(express and star), the case was bought by Dudley trading standards against Ijaz, who was trading on EBay as, Lexuschap. Hope this cheers people up, its taken a long time. How strange, my gs450 went in for an intermediate service and guess what, needed a shock absorber and new water pump. I also had it all repair under the warranty. My only gripe is I'd have preferred a pair of new shocks but hey ho. Carl Odd indeed. I was half expecting the shock absorber as the guy who did the MOT mentioned it was misting, I also asked if they would be changing the pair but at the price I suppose it was wishful thinking! The water pump was a surprise. It was suggested I might have heard it but perhaps I have the stereo too loud. Pete

Hello, there have been some comments recently about the value/need for a Lexus warranty, bearing in mind that it is £995 for 2 years. Back in march the service manager(Lexus Wolverhampton), convinced me that it would be worthwhile "just in case". It includes 2 years full AA cover which would be around £300 so the warranty was in effect £700. Yesterday at 9am I took my450 in for its major service-its done 84K, at 11 am came the phone call came to say I needed a new shock absorber and a water pump. This would cost £825, plus the service. After nearly passing out, the first time in 14 years of Lexus ownership I've had anything like this fail, I asked if these were not covered by the warranty he had sold me. "Oh I'd forgotten you did that, leave it with me". Just 15 minutes later a further call to say both items had been accepted and Lexus warranty would be paying.--RESULT. I reckon I'm about £120 up on the cost and still have 18 months cover left. As far as I know its the only warranty to cover the whole Hybrid system and will do so up to the car being 10 years old/140K miles. Pete

Lexus Chap

I've used lexus Wolverhampton for the last 10 years and had no complaints. I wouldn't bother with a service plan just go for the essential service at the age of the car. -
My 450 went in on Monday for the latest recall and I had a 64 reg IS300h for the day. I liked it whilst accepting it's not a GS and judged it as a smaller car--bigger boot though. I have had a 200 in the past and its not my sort of car at all. Too small and too hard a ride for me, (a bit like the early BMW 1 series). On the way home I realised that the petrol tank was nearly full and it had been below half when I took the car in. Is this a courtesy gesture from Lexus?

Hello, on the Lexus fixed price servicing site, it gives the cost of rear calipers (gs450) as £350 each and the rear pads and discs as £295, total of £995. I have just paid £468 at my local Lexus dealer. Parts £292.32, labour £92.40 plus vat £78.14. That's less than half the web site price! I thought £468 quite reasonable. Pete

If you're not willing to pay Lexus prices I have just had a set from www.mrcarmats. Third time I have used them with no problems. Fit is spot on with fixing holes in right places. Paid £39.95 for the mid range and am pleased with the product. Pete

Thanks for the replies. Colin. From what you say mine seems to be fine. thanks for the reassurance. Mark. Under acceleration the engine is not so quiet but it is a v6 against a v8-- and it's not loud enough to objectionable, more a different sound rather than too loud. Around town the overall noise level is I think a little lower due to the use of the electric motor rather than petrol engine. Road noise is not really an issue though I assume it may change depending on the tyres fitted, currently on Michelins. As it has wider and lower tyres than the 430 I think getting the tyre choice right will be important, better not going for a chunky tread rather a ribbed one. As far as I an concerned the quality is still right up at the top and I certainly have not rattles or squeaks, other members have complained about dashboard rattles but mine doesn't, fingers crossed that it stays as it is. I think you need to drive one as it is different to the 430, and it all boils down to opinion and taste. Graham. Yes it's still a Lexus just a different variation. I think it is different enough to be judged for what it is rather than to compare with the LS. I have nothing but praise for the cars I have had and like you will certainly not knock them. I did consider joining you with a 600 but due to having to buy 2 much lesser cars for work (Hyundai I20s) I could not really afford one at present and I had decided I wanted to try a hybrid so the GS really picked itself. Who knows perhaps I will back in a 600LS in a couple of years too. Pete

Hello, Well, after being a fan of the LS for 12 years (I've had 4 and also a RX), I've crossed over the forums and have bought a 2007 450h - 68k and full Lexus history. First impressions are all positive especially the performance which is better than my 430 was and also sharper handling. The slight downside is the loss of some ride comfort but it's still a nice place to be. I haven't noticed any creaks or groans from the cabin as mentioned by some. The near silence when in slow moving traffic is really strange-even more quiet than the 430 was. And no rev counter to check its going. So far I've done just on 500 miles and according to the read out it's done 38.4mpg which is brilliant.(obviously this may a bit optimistic). Round town since re filling it is a still good 29.8. One question so far... how full should the battery read out be? at one point it was full and totally green after a long down hill stretch, but generally it seems to be vary between 1/2 and 3/4 full. Is this OK? Pete
