  1. Post sale mileage is around 29K. So for the time I have had the car my average is around 6K/ year. Taking of the fact I have just done a round trip to the south of Spain and back which added approx 5K miles. Local dealer is unfortunately Arnold Clark, so I guess I am stuffed there! Colin
  2. Unfortunately, the Aberdeen Lexus dealership was closed down and amalgamated in to Arnold Clark Toyota Aberdeen. I've had nothing but problems with them servicing the car. Last service they did not tighten the sump drain plug, and I had oil leak all over my lock block driveway. It took a lot of arguing with them before they admitted liability and paid to have my drive cleaned. I paid for it, sent them the receipt, and about 2 weeks later I got a letter with a cheque in it from thme. "NO APOLOGY".. that's the kind of dealer they are!!! Every one I know who deals with them has peoblems, yet they post over 95% customer satisfaction!!! NO WAY!!!! I bought the car from them when it was 18 months old, so I wonder if that will help with the sale of goods act??? They told me then that there were problems with that engine type and said not to worry as I'd probably not have any problem! I really appreciate your advice..... Colin

  4. We are just back from a trip to Spain in my late 2007 IS220D. Noticed that coolant had come out of the radiator overflow pipe, so I took it to the dealer in Aberdeen (Arnold Clark Toyota). They tell me it looks like the head gasket known problem, and it would be expensive to fix!!! I asked about the Lexus extended warranty and whether it would cover the fix, especially as the car has just hit a little over 70K miles. Abruptly told that Lexus UK wouldn't entertain the fix cost as I am 4 months out of the 7 year extended warranty. I'm fuming as my last three cars have been lexus, and the service record is impeccable... I am going to contact them directly as I feel that the dealer hasn't really bothered explaining my customer loyalty etc, and that it is only 4 months over the warranty period, and has done no where near the 110000 mile mileage limit. If this doesn't work out I'll check with trading standards as they sold me a car which is not fit for purpose!!!! Col

  6. Thaks mate... I have tramlining. Quite noticeable just now. A little bit of feathering, so I'll go get it fixed now. Col
  7. Ok peeps, guess no one can help, but, I now know that it is front/rear toe in/ out that needs done. Should I trust a local tyre fitting place or do you recommend somewhere else to do it? Col
  8. Hi, Can anyone recommend a place to get the geometry set on my IS220d around the Aberdeen area?? Also, I have had so many problems with Arnold Clark Aberdeen servicing my car since Lexus Aberdeen were taken under their wing that I need to find somewhere that can be trusted to do a good job, again in the Aberdeen area. I just will not ever use Arnold Clark again. Appreciate any help you can give me. Col
  9. I'm just back from Canada, and, they only sell the AWD/4WD IS series over ther and they don't have any problems. Wish I had one now!
  10. yep, I can't get mine out of our estate when it snows or is frozen. My Is200 sport was the same. Frustrating as heck!!!!! Col :tsktsk:
  11. Well David, I sympathise with your experience and that of you service tech's. I stick by my experience and still say, post 2006 the 220d improved. I too have an excellent Lexus master Tech and Service Manager who do not concur with all of your views. Still, it's horses for courses, and yes there are far too many "doom mongers" ready to trash the car. My granny used to say, if you ain't got anything good to say the just keep it to yourself. Col
  12. You are talking and making good sense Carl. I'm with you fully. I used to get panicky when I read some negative posts, but now, based on personal experience I feel comfortable in praising the 220D. I only do around 5k/ year, so maybe I should have got the 250, but, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I still love my car to bits. I feel so sorry for those who have bad experiences, but that just taints their viewif the 220D. I tend to be a bottle half full rather than a bottle half empty type of guy, so, maybe that helps a little when I reply to posts asking for advice. Good luck to all 220D owners.... Genuinely..!! col
  13. Wondered how long it would take the gloom and Dom merchants to chip in. We do not all have bad experiences with the 220D and certainly not 95%. If it were that bad, Lexus would have to recall every one of them. So, you just make up your own mind my friend. Col
  14. 1) it's true that pre 2007 had their fare share of problems, but most were dealt with by Lexus. Yes, people do come to complain, and it does get annoying when it seems to indicate that the 220D is a problem car. all I can say is that I've had mine 4 years now, and it's one of the best cars I've owned. It is no worse than any other, believe me. So put your mind at rest. 2) yes. 3) don't leave it on tick over to warm it up, that damages any engine. I find it takes about 10 mins normal driving to get fully warm. 4) you bet, but some say it sounds like a tractor outside. I have heard much worse!!!! Hope this helps?? Col
  15. Normally a standard home use pressure washer won't cause problems if used properly ( don't use high pressure nozzle). However if you have damaged or chipped paint work, water can be forced under the damaged paint and cause peeling. Here are some details on pressure washer psi... 1000-1900 PSI - cars, boats, gutters, bricks, fence, deck, etc ... 2000-2900 PSI – Houses, airplanes, bricks, truck fleets, pools, patios, sidewalks, etc. 3000-5000 PSI - Stripping paint, Industrial, heavy greese stains, stubborn concrete spots, etc. Maximum 1200 psi would be my recommendation, but set on spray setting. Hope his helps. Col...
  16. I had this happen on the front spoiler. Dealer said it was due to moisture creep under the stone chips. They wouldn't fix it, so I had to go to my mates place who is a top class car paint expert. He said it was due to accident damage, and poor spray repair. If the solvent isn't removed completely before spraying, it leaches into the paint causing it to crack and peel. Still, as far as I am concerned it was £400.00 well spent. They do a thing called a Pull test, and that determines how easy the paint peels. This way they know if. There has been a poor paint job repair. I also know there can be problems with the water based paint that lexota use. Col
  17. You place the axle stands at the lugs for the jack. just make sure you have rubber or wooden protectors between the axle stand and the jacking points. If you want to PM me I have a picture from the manual. Col
  18. You need a 20kV source in the system to fire up the Xenon HID lamps, nor,Malloy only on dipped beam and not full beam in this country, so not just a simple bulb change.
  19. For both my Lexus, I used Lexus Aberdeen, but, they decidedto close down the branch and amalgamate with Arnold Clark Toyota, Aberdeen. I now get ervice/repairs done there, but the service is nothing like that of the Lexus dealer. My book still gets stamped with Lexus stamp and not Toyota. The Lead Lexus Techician moved to AC Toyota Aberdeen, but I wonder if this is why they still do it???? Col..
  20. Are you the Chief Lexus Technician called Mike I think???? Even though you didn't get paid well, you guys looked after me and my cars extremely well, and, for that I am truly grateful. Good luck offshore... Col
  21. Thanks for the replies guys... gues I just chalk it up as a loss to me.... not a happy bunny though. Col <[:o(
  22. Well, ordered and paid for my Curved Caliper Decals from the Lexus store. They arrived quickly. Problem is, there are only three instead of four in the pack. So, it is one short. Tried e-mailing to ask for order to be completed as there was one missing, but getting no replies..... Anyone offer any help as to how I can get my order competed. ta Col....
  23. Having man flue adles the brain!!! Should read more carefully... lol Col (IS220d) Might be wrong Col, but I think he's asking about 200D results only....maybe pondering an updated version? Unless you've changed I think you had a 220D as I have. The 200D is mooted to give a slightly better mileage return. Found it a bit sluggish compared to the 220 when I tried one. Think Lexus were trying to get C02 readings down in an effort to make it cleaner? My 220 (just out of interest in passing) is currently showing Av of 39.6 mpg. On a journey of useful distance I get 48-53 without too much effort. I use cruise control where appropriate.
