  1. I have bridgestones on all four, nitrogen filled, and they are quieter than michelin or continental... personal preference. Col
  2. IS220D is awful in the snow. Too much torque, and even with traction control off, I couldn't get the damn thing to go up even the slight incline out of our estate. Got stuck twice. Luckliy have great nieghbours who helped get me back in to our driveway. Ho-Hum. Col
  3. You can't get sh@tier than a quick fit fitter. Don't go near them. I had them do my IS200 and had it back three times. Took it to a local dealer who actually new what they were doing. I can't recommend Kwik Fit in any way at all. They even told my wife she needed £450 worth of uneccesary work when all it was ws a pipe that had disconnected during their service. Once again, local garage sorted it for... NOTHING! Col
  4. Ignore the "keep away from Diesel" comment mate. It's rubbish. I'm just back from a motoring holiday around Europe.. Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany. Around 2500 extremely comfortable and highly enjoyable miles and great experience in my 220D. Kept up with whizzers on the Auto Stradas and Auto Bahns as well as getting average 46 MPG. The Diesel is truly a superior car. Col.. 'The Diesel is truly a superior car', well i'm glad you're happy with yours but 'superior' over the petrol? I think not. Apart from mpg return there is nothing superior about the diesel - unless you prefer that double-decker bus sound of the engine over the barely noticeable ticking over, and when you rev it up growl delivered by the V6. If you are educated to higher English or above, then, if you read and interpret my reply properly, you will most certainly see that I did not initimate in any way shape or form that it was "superior to the petrol model". I said it was a superior car! As for the "double decker bus" sound, well I prefer bus and tractor growls. Just my preference I'm not afraid to say. 'Educated to higher English or above' - then what does 'initimate' mean? And since the majority of posts in this thread are relating to diesel v petrol, I'm sure that others as well as myself read your post as being superior to the petrol model. Anyway, I would urge all prospective diesel buyers to test drive both diesel and petrol versions of the IS. I was going to buy the diesel myself, but after trying both decided it was a no-brainer and bought the petrol model. You pays your money ... Yep, you have just proved that you're a "no brainer", stick to spell checking and stop knocking diesels. No need for me to knock diesels - they to a good enough job of that themselves. So if you didn't mean superior to the petrol then what were you referring to, the Lexus hybrids? Tip of the day: If you're in a hole and want to get out, stop digging. Ok, you can put your spade away now.....

  8. 200% right not to accept half a job mate. Good on you.. Col
  9. I thought the same. Mine used to be on 400, got told by Lexus there was a 600 but they have said it aint for my engine (2006 220D) and 500 is the latest. Confirmed today. 600 is for 2007 on-wards so I'm reliably informed.. Col..
  10. To be honest it varies. How you drive, temperature, blah dee blah. 35 isn't too bad really. I'm Averaging 38-48mpg depending on whwther it's a long run or town driving or a mix of all. Check the EGR valve and the version of ECU flash.. should be 600. Col..
  11. Yep, silver... was told it was platinum ice shade, but not so sure as my IS200 sport was that colour. Col
  12. I'm intersted in this as I've had my EGR valve replaced. I don't drive hard, but I can never get wheel spin.... Should I ask for the re-falsh??? Col...
  13. 2008 model. Not Multimedia though, I had loads of toys before so just went for the plain model and transferred them over. Wish I had the reversing cameras though... Wish you many miles of enjoyable motoring and pleasure with your purchase. Col..
  14. It's a wee bit sad when good people like you leave. Balanced comments on the IS220D and in short saying it is not the demon portrayed by some. I think you've moved on to a wonderful car and wish you squillions of happy and enjoyable motoring. All the very best. Col...
  15. Well, this afternoon was really sunny, so, my IS220D baby got the treatment. Full wash and shammy down, then the 2nd Dodo Juice treatment. This stuf might be a tad expensive, but, what a quality finish. I think she looks yummy now. Col... http://s684.photobucket.com/albums/vv207/colbecoz/My%20IS220D%20babay/
  16. This is very useful info'. I too have this problem and have now e-mailed my local dealer to get it fixed. Yet another plus for the forum and owners club. Thanks a lot. Col..
  17. I used DentDevils on the recommendation of another member and they did a great job, my dents were nowhere near as big but I think it should still be fine. They'll tell you before they start though how well they think it will come out so you'll be able to decide whether to go ahead or not. I used Dent Devils also on my wifes car. I went to Halfrauds 1st where the guy told me he would have to fill the dent then paint it ... cost £120.00. I said no way it can be repaired without filler (which I could've done myself for a few quid.), so, The guy from Dent Devils came out to the house, had a look and said, yep, a wee bit difficult but I have a special tool to do this kind of work. 40 mins later, dent completely gone with no trace, and a nice wee bill for £65.00. Dent Devils are really good. Col...
  18. ...and Scots? We all know why Lexus introduced the ill conceived diesel in the second generation IS, and it was to capture some of the Company car/fleet market. It isn't available in Japan, America or Canada because that market doesn't exist in those areas. I don't see the fact that it then becomes available to the general public any kind of bonus as I have disliked the car from its inception. Anyway, as been said many times before, this is a forum not a Lexus fan club and I'm entitled to express my opinion as well as you are. If you don't like it, tough. pity your bitter and wrong too.... if you can't say anything good then keep it to youself... Cannot see why you think I'm bitter, except maybe bitterly disappointed Lexus put a diesel engine in one of their models for probably the first and last time. As for keeping it to myself, it wouldn't be a forum if we all did that. Your prognostications match your obvious diminutive intellect..... Oh and by theway... YOU'VE BEEN TANGOED!!!!!!

  20. Well I can get that mpg regularly with the IS250 and it's a far better car than the oiler. I thought the only reason for anyone buying the 220D was for supposed economy, although I suppose they're also cheaper and more readily available to buy (for obvious reasons). Are you really a Scotsman OK, so here we go again! Yet another dig at IS220D. The IS220D is a superior brand car. Granted it is not a petrol, granted it is a different drive from the 250, but, what the knockers fail to understand in a BIG way, is that people "choose" to buy what they want based on different personal requirements and criteria. So let's have less of "nya nya nyanya nya my cars better than yours" approach, and respect that we all don't want cars with the tiny bit extra grunt and higher emissions. Lexus of all models are premium brand luxury cars which outshine many other badged brands. Just to close, "Scots" people are far from mean and frugal, we are among the most generous in the world. So stop being negative and post some positive praise for all Lexus models. Col...
  21. I get around 46-52mpg on a long drive. I tend to find that on cruise, it tends to be less efficient than if you drive it manually. Still a hell of lot better than my lovely IS200 Sport, but, as I've said.. it's a differnet car and different driving experience. Well done mate... enjoy your car. Col...
  22. Stunning... absolutley Stunning mate... a real beauty.. Col
