  1. I have a really mint 1997 with only 66,000 miles on the clock and full Lexus Service History, and i paid 1800 So i think that the price is too high about 1000 to 1200? seems right
  2. I used to have a 1995 LS400, i have now bought a really immaculate 96 LS400 with 66,000 miles on the clock and 100% genuine. This car is seriously immaculate condition, full history, all the old MOT,s. Drives like a new car. I paid just over 2000 pounds., and it is the mid green colour with cream leather interior. After being away from these cars for a while you can really appreciate just how good they are. What a ride ....
  3. Thanks Graham for that Info, mine is a MK3 So does anyone know where i can get cheap suspension parts for a MK3
  4. Micro I notice that the Arnotts are for a 90 to 94. My car is a 1995, do you know if they are the same part? or if they do 1995 control arms
  5. My 1995 LS400 has just failed the MOT because of upper control arm ball joints are worn. My questions 1 Where are the best places to get hold of the 2 control arms with new ball joints, Anywhere in Britain? or America 2 While this suspension work is being done is it worth replacing any of the other suspension pieces like bushes. Again what would the car benefit from having replaced? What would be the cost? and British or American Suppliers? I would appreciate the help
  6. I thought this information may help anyone with a Lexus LS 400 or looking to buy a Lexus LS400. I owned a Honda Prelude Vtec Sports car but i wanted something a little more comnfortable, as my travelling had increased quite dramatically. I asked my local Honda Dealer if they had any Honda Accords about 7 to 10 years old that they took in Part Ex and wanted to trade. A few weeks later i get a call that they had a nice 98 accord in stock, so i went to have a look, a nice car but i also noticed a Lexus Ls400 that they had also taken in Part Exchange. It was a 1995 car with 74000 miles on the clock and it looked to be in pretty good condition, The history was great up to 40,000 miles and then a bit sketchy, but i did have all the old Mot certificates. After a lot of haggling i bought the car for £1500 which i thought was a good bargain. This is a list of what i have done so far and costs. 1 Re gassed the Air Con cost £42 2 Replaced the Air Filter and Pollen Filter £45 they were completely knackered 3 Had the front wheels balanced, slight wobble and also oil and filter change at ATS cost in total £52 4 Fitted a set of NGK Iridium spark plugs total cost £57 from www.sparkplugs.co.uk, fitted them myself 5 Paid for an auto electrician to find the fault which kept flattening my battery, it was a faulty heater fan controller cost £41 6 Bought 4 part worn Michelin Pilot Tyres off Ebay for a total of £80, really good condition tyres, like new 7 Fitted 2 of these tyres to the rear of the car and had the front laser tracked, so that the steering wheel is back in line, tracking was also out quite a bit total cost £38 The car runs perfectly and the MPG has shot up from about 26mpg to a 30mpg, also runs a lot smoother and also tracks perfectly, before it felt a little nervous. Did not have to spend much to get this car running real good.
  7. Problem solved !!!! It was a faulty heater fan speed controller. A friend of mine who is an auto electrician diagnosed it immediatly. Lexus want £125 + VAT for the part, so at the moment mine has not got a fan BUT at least the battery does not get flattened all of the time !!!!
  8. I dont thionk it is the alternator, because when i jump start the car, and drive it for a while the battery will be fully charged up again. It is only when i park the car up that the battery goes flat again, it is if it is leaking electriciuty somewhere. Alarm? or anywhere else?
  9. I have a 95 series 2 Lexus LS400 which i have now had for 2 weeks. I had a problem with the original battery going flat, so i changed the battery for a new one. This new battery is now also going flat !!! after 1 or 2 days. When i jump start the car, and drive it the battery will charge up again, which makes me think the alternator is fine. I am losing charge somewhere, any ideas?. Any known problems in this area One thing i notice is that it sounds as if the heater fan is on, in its lowest setting even when the key is out of the ignition, this must be drawing charge? i think the heater LCD has been changed at sometime, could it have been soldered/Wired up wrongly?
  10. Thanks for he help really appreciated. 1 I have now got the radio working, last 3 digits of VIN, great !!!!! 2 Wheel wobble gone, after i had the wheels balanced this morning. 3 I will look out on Ebay for bits i need. Are the 90 to 95 front brake discs the same as the 95 to 2000 ? are the US brake discs the same as ones for British cars?
  11. Hello Everybody i have just bought a 1995 Lexus LS400 with 74,000 miles on the clock and FLSH, some questions. 1 My radio does not work becuase it is showing the code "SEC" i guess that i need to enter a code but where do i get this from? or how do i reset this? 2 I have a bad front wheel wobble at about 55 to 60mph below this it is fine and above this fine. I am guessing that it is just a wheel balancing issue, any other suggestions that it may be. 3 Any good contacts for service parts in the states where i understand it is much cheaper to purchase parts. Any other advice for a newby gladly accepted
