  1. that site you posted is very good although i doubt i'm feeling that brave or technically proficient to do it myself but worst case i'll print it off & save mechanic time & thus me £ :D From previous advice i guess US is cheapest place to get HT leads & plugs but in absence of wanting to wiat too long any good cheap places folks use in UK for such items & as above any confirmation of which plugs would be a bonus ;) Thanks again Si
  2. cheers for that. Obvious/silly question round 29 what spec of spark plug would be required &/or anything else specific to the LS? Ta Si
  3. sound like it would be plugs then? Would that also explain occasional stutter is best way i can describe it when pushing the loud pedal sometimes in the morning? Ta Si
  4. is it easy to check if cambelt has been replaced, bloke reckoned it had been done at 129k & there is normal C stamp in service record but not lexus so i'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they have record to confirm that it was changed if not i guess i have to presume not? Ta Si
  5. ie can i just take it to local mechanic i've found to be reliable in the past or maybe cunning to go to a specialist if not a lexus dealer? Just looking for overviews & theories before i start bighting the bullet & getting me credit card out to sort a few niggles out? Ta SI
  6. Any thoughts or obvious things which would cause such a failing? Opens fine from inside so just slightly annoying not being able to open from outside......lol. What should i be asking for if for example i was getting cheap parts from a broken LS400? Thanks Si (AKA ignorant)
  7. Howdy, Bloke at work reckoned my fresh purchase, '93 LS400 with 140k on the clock, had a misfire & would probably be coil pack needs replacing ASAP. Sound possible/logical (without hearing it i know :D ) & if so any good places to get coilpack cheap? Presume it's something local half decent garage i;ve used before could do? Ta Si
  8. are these a regular thing & if so always in same neck of woods or do you alternate at all? Ta Si
  9. crap i just sold 3 sets of RX7 wheels...... Si
  10. more of a light whirring noise but defo related to amount of gas applied must pay more attention to it only i found out how to work the radio & CD interchanger so that's got rid of that noise for now ;) lol..... Si
  11. So silly question round 162 is it ment to pull slightly even when your not on the gas? ie so when i come off brake & it;s in D it pulls forward very slightly/slowly seems like a good way to stop rolling back hill start stylee but just wanted to check it was normal? Does seem to feel like the band or whatever powers the magic fairies under the bonnet clicks every few seconds when in D but on brake so remainign stationary. Hopefully just my auto ignorance but wanted to check it's nothing more awry? Ta Si
  12. As it says on the tin what do i need to be looking for for new wheels for LS400 & any other info on what other models of lexus or makes of car share the same stats? Ta Si
  13. can but hope & nothing too major all going well. noticed the infamous flickering speedo lights on start up this morning so i'll do a bit more research into that although it stopped when i turned lights on & off. small bubblkes in paintwork by passenger windows but again not that bothered it is a 14 year old car :D Few pix: Si oh & aerial doesn't seem to want to go up & down on it's own but again nowt to cry about....... Si
  14. wicked i iz liking dat init. Nah i think it looks OK on me black chap & i do love deep dish chrome alloys although not sure if dished rims would work so well on the lex. I will tweak her hopefully nicely once my cash flow gets healthier so fear not you old folks dont need to worry just yet ;) lol Si
  15. Hi, Didn't know as i recall seeing an ad on ebay where they were bigging up the gold badge factor & the LS400 (1993) i've just got also has gold badges. So it it merely an aftermarklet or optional extra to look cool or does it represent something or anything else? Ta Si
  16. So far so good, scarey how quick & to use the clichee smooth it is :D Few small issues i was expecting but hopefully nothing major, specifically, the ole black LCD air con things, broken drivers door handle (not sure if this is common or easy to fix?) & small crack in rear bumper. But looks & goes pretty sweet otherwise so lets hope i'm one of the lucky ebay purchasers :D Certainly impressed so far just need to fill up with juice & see if i can fill me wallet back up to get her a few goodies to get her looking even sweeter :D Cheers for help so far. Si
  17. looks liek it maybe destiny to have a lex as said older one i was bidding on has come back with 2nd chance offer after being messed about, down side is i'd just won a BMW 740i cheap as chips on same age & milage but i think i'm guna be an annoying ebayer & bail out the BM (&offer seller the difference to 2nd best bid as payment for peaing about) & snap the 93 lex up :D I'll be back with pix once i;ve sorted it out. Rather annoyingly i;ve been invited to a wedding on the Sunday of JAE which is just plain rude there best be fit bridesmaids or i'm writing a letter to my MEP ;) lol Si
  18. there's usually clockers or whatever the correct term is in the back of car mags i imagine it's plug a laptop in or such like. Failing that wait for saomeone knowledgable to come along :D lol Si
  19. yeah it's same on most boards i mod on it's just a useful tool for the mods to spot the tools.....lol Si
  20. i know from trackdays you certainly dont want to be sat on brakes especially if they've been nicely heated up ;) 10k does sound sparse unless your a serious late braker or sumin? They have handbrakes surely even if that means you only warp rears (presumign handbrake applies to rear) and the rears will be less hot c/o the majority of braking being done at the front? Otherwise ta for the heads up so far. Si (talking shyte? lol)
  21. probably on a ~95 LS400 if that makes any difference.....
  22. OK showing my ignorance but i confess the only time i've ever driven an auto was when a woman asked me to drive her espace out of a car parking space a few years ago cause she couldn't reverse (si resists sexist comment.......lol) So what's the crack then? In my ignorance we have drive neutral & reverse where you press button on lever? & put in approriate hole (again si keeps his inappropriate sense of humour in check) then press go pedal? What have i missed about the finer or more basic technicalities? Cheers Si (puts on dunce cap & goes to lick the minibus)
