  1. So this message is a Public Service Announcement to Lexus owners who Google "Lexus" and "Clunking sound". I struggled with diagnosing the sounds coming from rear susp on my 93 ES 300 for a year. Different suspension tech's told me I needed a grand's worth of new shocks, mechanics told me to spray silicon on the bushings, etc etc. I took the rear seat out & poured motor oil on the f***ing shock mounts to lube the bumpstops... Eventually I had the right guy look at it and he found and shimmed a loose stabilizer bar in back. No more noise. Cost=$45. Next issue for those googling console gauge cluster burnt out needles display etc. I searched high & low for a year for a solution that didn't involve $1000 to the (st)dealer for a new instrument cluster. If you have this problem and aren't real confident with a soldering gun, I suggest you pay Lextech to fix it. sales@lextech.org It costs like $100 + shipping and comes out pretty nice. A few gripes--pay him the extra $20 to fix any bad bulbs b4 you send it, as he solders the back of the cluster, making it hard to replace those bulbs later. Also, he put the wrong color in so specify that. All in all tho, a bargain at the price. I suggest getting a cheap replacement cluster to stick in the car for the week that the one he's fixing is away. If you try to drive the car without the cluster, the airbag light'll come on & it's a real PITA to turn off. Also, the new cluster might have lower miles on it than your old one. Not that I would advocate swapping them, of course. Now if I could just figure out how to kill this stupid wind noise from the driver's side window. I've tried special rubber conditioners, taking the door apart to adjust the glass, the dealer(worthless), about everything but duct tape. Email me for any questions of advice re: the wind noise.
