  1. I have just had HIDs fitted and am now wondering what the difficulty would be with fitting the headlight projector assemblies from an IS300 in to my 200? I've looked on the web and can't see any difference to the outer shape of the housing in most photos - are the pictures of 200's maybe? I've seen one photo whish claims to be of a 300 lamp and the indicator is at the bottom under the main light and not off to the side as on my car. If this is the case then it's probably game over before I start. Any advice will be appreciated.
  2. I've just had them checked and they were a little out. Last night as I was driving I could actually make out the faces of drivers coming the other way...not normal at all. So I suppose that I may well have been blinding people. At least it's all sorted now.
  3. Yes, my headlights are correctly aligned and I do have them set to the lowest setting as well, they are basically pointing at the floor in front of the car. You can see a slant off to the nearside, so as far as I am aware they're fine. Will put the car in to an MOT centre to make sure though...they've got a clever bit of kit to check I believe.
  4. Help needed. I have just converted to HID but I'm not happy with the results. My car is a 99 IS200SE without the sports body kit so the headlight washers are intact. I am trying to source the self-levelling projector headlight units for use with HID as apposed to the static reflector units that the car comes with as standard. Does anyone know where to get these things - if they even exist? Also, does anyone else have a car running HID's that you've put on yourself? Any problems with the law or other road users and would you say 8000k is too blue for using on the road? I am tempted to take the 8000K bulbs back and swap them for 4300K as those would be much more "standard" looking. At the moment I am getting nothing but grief from other road-users, the Police have left me alone though. On a positive note, young kids seem to like them. To be fair, when I hold a white sheet of paper up in front of the lights at night, it is lit up white, but the lights do seem very blue to the eye. What should I do? Get projector units? Or is there some other way of making sure the beam spread is perfect and doesn't annoy everyone? Any advice would be much appreciated.
  5. On the IS200 it means that your A/C is faulty and that you should get it checked before you attempt to use it again. Could be either re-gassing or new components needed...lets just hope it's re-gassing.
  6. Oops, ignore me. I'm talking about rears and you're talking about fronts.
  7. Well, I've had many trips to the garage and lots of heartache over the same sort of problems...on both rears. Though, once the issues are sorted it's all plain sailing again. These are the possibles... 1 - The handbrake works by drum-brakes which are inside the centres of the discs. These are held together with springs and cups, if they come apart then you'll get scraping and clunking noises. 2 - There is a backplate behind the disc, which can get bent towards the disc. This can scrape, causing noise, especially when turning. 3 - There is a backplate behind the disc - only visible with the disc off. This can also get bent and then rub. I've had all of these at one time or another. Not dangerous, just :tsktsk: annoying and fiddly to find.
  8. How much are they likely to set me back?
  9. I'm thinking about getting a supercharger fitted but as I didn't even know that there were bolt on kits for the IS200 until I stumbled across this place, I've done a fair number of miles. 103k to be honest. I mentioned my plans to a mechanic friend and he made that whistling noise they're all good at and then started chanting "never tune a top end if the bottom end is old." Are there any known issues with supercharging a high mileage IS?
  10. I'd be happy paying that! :winky: Oh....you mean fuel.
  11. I've got the Bridgestone Potenzas all round and the car passed it's MOT last week. My tread's fine. Maybe I shouldn't be pushing the go peddle while going round a corner in the wet then?
  12. try pulling the nozzle out slightly and angling the handle down a bit. It does work with mine.
  13. With all the rain we've been having recently I've become more and more aware of these 'orrible little things. Why oh why do road planners feel the need to put them on the entrance to, the apex of and the exit of corners? It gets pretty hairy when you get understeer, then oversteer up to three times in a corner! They always seem to put them just where the outside (loaded up) tyres naturally travel through the corner as well. Are they trying to cause accidents? :tsktsk:
