  1. Hi Jamie1976, I am still looking into this but have made some progress. I disconnected the battery to clear codes but the light came back flashing same as before. I did a transmission oil flush which was suprisingly easy and although the gear changes seem smoother the light still flashes. I bought an OBD11 reader off Amazon but this was not compatible with the GS300 so could not get the engine codes but will keep the reader for other cars as only £25. Found a method on LOC to read codes by bridging two terminals in engine diagnostic port with a paperclip and then counting light flashes on dashboard, again very very easy. I got DTC P0760 which is shift solenoid c malfunction. Now looking into that, reading around it seems it might be a diy job to drop transmission oil pan and swap out the soleniod or get independant to do it. I am guessing this is going to cost £400 to £600 but at least does not sound gearbox terminal. Please let me know if you find out anything useful.
  2. Hi all, The ECT/PWR light on the dash of my car is flashing. Been doing it for a couple of weeks now. Car still drives fine, engine good, gearbox good. I think this maybe a loose connection, dirty sensor? or a component breaking down. Has anybody had a similar problem or got any ideas as to whats up? I have serviced this car myself for the last 3 years and all has been really well. I am doing an ecu reset by battery disconnection for an hour so I know memory will be fully clear. I don't think this will solve the problem but worth a try! This may be beyond me to diagnose and fix so can anyone recommend a lexus dealer or good independant either in Epsom or Bromley areas? Thanks for any help.
  3. Hi All, Any clues as to where I will find the fuel filter on my GS300 mk2 would be greatly appreciated? Thanks
  4. Hi All, does anybody know what the torque wrench setting should be for the spark plugs on my gs300 mk2? I have just changed the plugs and replaced the denso pk20tr11's with the same again. I recently bought this car and it does not have full history so I am doing some tidying up. The car now has just over 80k miles on the speedo (although not sure if this can be trusted. Can Lexus be clocked?) and I do not know if the plugs had been changed previously so thought I would do it just in case. Changing the plugs was pleasingly straight forward including the throttle body removal and replacement. I decided not to worry about replacing the throttle body gasket as its a big juncky rubber jobby and was in good condition. I felt that all 6 plugs that came out were in good condition with just a good clean even very light brown colour so I guess they may have been changed previously. I found when I removed the plugs that the sockets / holes that they were in were full of oil. I can understand how this might happen to the front 1 or 2 plugs (next to oil filler) but not all 6. Anyway removing the plugs lost the oil (and who knows what else) down into the engine. When I fitted the new plugs I used a torque wrench at its lowest setting but just wondered what the correct setting was as I may just want to torque up to it if significantly higher. A mechanic might be happy to tighten up by hand and feel but since I am not I do not want to over tighten. When I restarted the engine I had absolutely no problems at all and the expected cloud of blue smoke from the oil burning off quickly diminished to nothing. Car drives better than ever now. Any help on this appreciated. The suns out so I'm off outside to change the brake fluid.
  5. Thanks for the welcomes and help. The memory seats are now set to 1 driving position 2 power nap position....excellent thanks Ken. Aido, I think your right about the shift lock override button as what you say makes sense. I will try it out with the engine off just to confirm thats what it does for my own peace of mind. Thanks again Stella :)
  6. Hello to all, I have had my GS300SE for ten days now....and I like it......a lot. Seems to have everthing except kitchen sink and tea making facilities, oh and a manual. Please can any one tell me the answers to the following questions. What does the shift lock override button next to the gear shift do? Should there be a light coming on the dashboard to show if its on or off? Does it have any noticeable affect on the driving of the car? The drivers door has seat memory buttons, set 2 & 1. So far I have not been able to get it to work. Maybe some special order, time or combination you have to press the buttons or maybe its just broken. Any suggestions or advice gratefully received Thank you
