  1. Well the answer to that is... probably, I have no idea if your wiring will be the same... you could send them a message and ask, although do remember a lot gets lost in translation...!!!
  2. I'll be selling mine soon if you fancy another RX... No rust and everything works as it should...
  3. BCA own WBAC, all the poor quality tatty cars that they can't retail go to BCA for disposal.... I'm not saying they are all in poor condition but in my experience, and the cars I have seen go over the block, bear this out. I personally wouldn't buy a car from them unseen, the pictures are poor quality and the description never mentions ANY blemishes or faults.... Basically there are better places to buy cars unless you just want the cheapest thing you can get... !
  4. Remember to unbolt the seat before you disconnect the battery, then remove the airbag plug...
  5. There maybe airbag wiring under there, it is easy to spot as it will be yellow, best to disconnect the battery and wait 20mins to let the capacitors discharge before removing them, As has been said it will be four bolts, you will have to put the seat all the way forward for the rear bolts and all the way back to get to the front bolts. they go into captive nuts so it is a one person job... then tip the seat backwards and disconnect the wiring paying attention to yellow connectors as above... The seats are heavy so put a thick old blanket or similar over the door threshold to protect it from damage from the bottom of the seat when lifting it out... Then hopefully a good clean and regrease will sort your issue... You should make some money as there are always a few coins under seats!!.... a good opportunity to give the carpet a good clean as well...
  6. Any good... and it answers your question... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265699135891?hash=item3ddce71193:g:C4sAAOSw-u9fpDJS&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4ChCI%2BV2BaJ6cSaAvsa5WmqZVWTtNWBAXWL8N3DLD25SM7uWEe%2B0dfm8wWQFHJQDP9gPFjA0XzqpyX5Wu1FojrdibIhzUUbpkZyifA3o4WxDfO6zvgQdE4Z1xaBafFB%2BJarTrK%2BPQvOxopz3ODb40TPcdFkz6h09gs5nIlrfWcObZ0%2BS9SJPZ3biWAADljtps47cwbpjbZt6TS%2FvRKUWx56bVyntEf5nORJBITeCdFbMdWp930vNVuLRwYxagXMXBq4qRSYyq%2Fb4S8gu8URtCMSEfj6zSAoD3ir3uRVFObXq|tkp%3ABFBMzpCFk8hg
  7. After drying it out try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins, that may reset the components... Worth a try before you have to spend money.......
  8. Do you get the same noise when you accelerate from standstill, if you do then it "could" be the same issue, loose strut bolts. It could, of course, be a lot of other things, if it just does it when braking it could be worn calliper carriers or even the brake pads moving within the calliper...
  9. Look guys, I just thought you might find it interesting to see what will write a car off these days... For me it is a no brainer, make a claim, fix the car up properly and keep it... I am fully aware of how it works and how insurance companies work. I will not be out of pocket, even when future values etc are taken into account... The payout is so small it will make little difference to the insurance renewal, yes they will load it but this is based on cost and as I said the renewal is cheaper than last year... It's got to the bottom of it's depreciation and cars of this ilk sell on condition and this one was, and will be, near mint, the only thing that lets it down at the moment is the bonnet which will be painted at the same time. I have a local guy I use and the cost has already been discussed. One wheel needs refurbishing as well. The car will be returned to excellent condition and I have a nice car to drive around in... I will list how much it costs when it's done, in the meantime thanks for the concern but don't worry, it's all in hand...
  10. Yes, that's what I am doing.... Thank you precisely what I thought... Funnily enough the renewal is next week and it is significantly cheaper than last year...
  11. No CCTV, not much of an excess, at nearly 20 years old it's lost all it's money, being a CAT N (which is what it will probably be) won't make much odds... and I'm not driving around with a damaged car. It'll get repaired and I'll make a few quid on the price difference between the payout and the repair, it's a win all around... What's the point of fully comp insurance if you are not going to claim...??
  12. An enthusiastic young lad on a big motorbike got all excited with his twistgrip, he hit the front door, rear door, rear wing, bumper and wheel.... He then decided he had a better place to be and took off, he had one of the small motorcycle number plates which are just too small to read in your mirrors... Never mind, it's what I pay protected no claims for... Anyway, after a phone call to the insurance they wrote it off there and then... It was mint pre accident... I've asked to buy the salvage and will get it fixed as it's in such nice condition otherwise. I've taken my private plate off just in case they record it as a CAT B, which is very unlikely, but you lose the rights to the cherished plate if they do..!! At least it's still drivable and it's aircon is soooo cold...
  13. So the OP doesn't need a jump start pack, any 12v supply would be enough to get the car switched on, whereby it will charge the 12v battery up itself...?
  14. Just had a thought, doesn't the RX450h engine get started by the motor generator? in which case it's the big battery that starts the engine, not the 12v one...???
  15. BCA do have decent late model cars, older ones like this 350 tend to be the poor condition tatty cars that cost too much to correct for retail so they get sent to auction...
  16. Fare point if it sells that low... I doubt it somehow...
  17. Herb, It's a device people who exceed the speed limit use to warn them of cameras...
  18. When measuring the voltage in a battery after charging you should wait at least 30 mins after disconnecting the charger before using a meter to check the voltage, the battery needs to settle to give an accurate reading....
  19. The pictures come from when it was sold by BCA (British car auctions) you see the same back drop with all their cars, so 1, The dealer is too lazy to take his own pictures and 2, if it's been sold through the trade via BCA then it is not a nice car, if it was it would have been bought direct from where it came by the 101 dealers who are after nice cars to sell... Personally I'd find another, it's on an eBay "no reserve" auction for a reason, dealers with confidence in their stock sell cars with an asking price... Just my 2p...
  20. The eCVT does not constantly vary it's gears, it is electronically controlled to operate in various gears... There is a big difference... To cut a long story short the difference in gearing is controlled by the engine or motor generator speed... For others information there is no reverse gear in there either, reverse is taken care of by one of the motor generators...
  21. The other thing to remember is that the eCVT is NOT a CVT it is a series of planetary and sun gears... They should have come up with a better name so as not to confuse the issue....!!
  22. It's a bit difficult confirming that that is the correct pipe that is leaking on yours, as you are the only one that has seen it...!!
  23. The aircon is powered by an electric motor, so is the power steering, so it stays cool all the time, even with the engine off... The "EV" range is very limited, 1/2 a mile if you are lucky... it is very sophisticated so just let it do it's thing..!!
