  1. Here's a link regarding the government raping us all for car tax. It starts in 2009 so no need to panic just yet. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/B...t2008/DG_073093 Newbie Once this information filters through, I think the value on post March 2001 cars over 255 CO2 (which includes the LS) will drop. Bear in mind also that the VED will always go up, so who knows what it will be in 3 years time! £600?. I think there is the assumption (by the Government) that eventually the pre 01 cars will gradually be scrapped and therefore, the increases on these vehicles are small in comparison.
  2. As this is my second LS and the first one was a S3. I would like to add that I felt the leather was of a better grade, it is certainly softer. Strangely, I think the suspension is a little softer, which I do not like. It is smoother, feels faster and a Lexus mechanic (Bromley) in his view believes this is the best model.
  3. It is the series 4. It's the gadgets that are drawing me to the 430!
  4. Although I have recently bought my Ls400, I was considering changing to a LS430 6 speed. In yesterday's budget it appears that the VED for all LS430's registered after March 2001 will increase from £210 pa to £440pa from 2009/10 (CO2 269). I can hear some people say that if you can afford to run a LS then you can afford the extra £230. Well not me! I will have to think hard about the change now, unless the price of car comes down considerably. Do people think the prices are going to slide, or will drivers just swallow the increase?
  5. I believe it use's the switch on the fuel filler door to let let the system know it has been refilled? Problem solved. Disconnect the battery, 5 beeps, reconnect and things are back to normal!
  6. The fuel range on My LS 400 Mkiv has recently been playing up. When I refill (or should I say when I put some petrol in the tank) the gauge moves, however, the range does adjust to increase. Also the last refill information has not changed. I have according to the computer about 18 miles left, so it will be interesting to see what happens. The car is booked into Lexus Bromley on 19 March and as the car is still under warranty they should rectify it FOC. Any thoughts?
  7. I had a 400h as a courtesy car for two days. Never saw under 30mpg and this was around London and the city. I admit that I did not boot it! Oh and the mileage was 7,000. Most impressed, although sat nav a bit fiddly compared to my Ls400.
  8. Received the car back from Lexus Bromley. The window mechanism repaired (under warranty) but could not fix the bonnet. Advise there was nothing wrong and they did not notice the bonnet movements at speed. They will check there 'data bank' and have another look when the car is due for it's service. I will check on the US site for any instances.
  9. Don't know if it's the same on the LS as the IS. If you look to the front of the car when the bonnet is open on each side there might be an adjustable rubber pad. Turn it to raise is slightly. This will tighten the fit and might solve the problem. Thanks, I will have a look tomorrow. It is booked into Lexus Bromley for some warranty work on Tuesday, so I will ask them to have a look.
  10. I have recently purchased my second LS400, upgraded from a mk3 to mk4. One thing I noticed that when on the motorway and travelling at above 70 mph the bonnet starts to shake. This is near the washer jets. It's really wierd because when stationary the bonnet is firmly seated. Has any one come across this? The bonnet struts were replaced by Lexus before I purchased the car back in May 2007.
