  1. The IS200 engine has VTT-I (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) and a variable inlet manifold. The variable valve timing only works on the inlet cam shaft and is constantly in use to increase fuel economy and torque throughout the rev range. I think the kick in power you feel aroung 4krpm is the variable inlet manifold opening some extra channels up. There are topics on this on the forum if you search. Ed
  2. Nice one fella - the pull from the charger will get better as the ECU learns it. I remember being oh so slightly dissapointed with the power increase and throttle response after I had had it fitted (well for the amount of money I had spent) - however the more I drove it the better it became.
  3. I believe it's just a case of taking out the rear seat and pulling/unscrewing the hatch off. Bottom of the seat just pops off its connectors and the top needs unscrewing at the bottom and lifting vertically untill it comes off. Needs to go quite high from memory.
  4. Nice one Ormi. Bloody hell those photos are huge man!
  5. In case you didnt manage to read through the layers of sarcasm Greedy :P - they were not factory fit and are fitted aftermarket by owners to their cars. All ISs left the factory with silver badging. Ed
  6. You are not going to be able to fit 254 or 245 tyres to the OEM wheels without problems. The car should be rock solid in the wet anyway so i would go for some new 215/45/17 tyres or a geo recheck or both. Falken 452s are highly rated (just had them fitted to mine) as they are cheap for their performance. Paid £80 each for some 225/40/18s. Transporter - Stoke may have put the WIM settings on their demonstator as the car drives much better with these settings as well as improving front inner tyre wear.
  7. OBD plug is to the right hand side at the top of the drivers footwell. Diag codes are on a sticky somewhere here. The beep could be a problem with power getting to the alarm system as the car beeps like that when the battery is disconnected. Some transformation ur car has had :)
  8. If you don't mind a used looking one - I might have a genuine one for you...............
  9. You can still slide the car with the TRC on it just cuts the power once the back starts to come out a bit. The TRC is not sophisticated and IIRC works if the rear wheels are going a certain percent faster than the car then it cuts the fuel injectors. Therefore it will not correct understeer only oversteer or straight line rear wheel spin. Maybe try spinning the rear wheels in a straight line on a wet road? V easy for me with the charger in 1st in the wet but should be easy enough for you too. You should also try replacing the bulb in the guage for the TRC light.
  10. IIRC 40mm is the limit really before the geo is unrecoverable - most people including myself go with a 35mm drop with TTe/Eibach (TTE are rebranded Eibach) springs. Only thing is that the drop is relative as different models on different years have a different ride hight - eg mine dropped at least 35mm before it settled on Eibach's. Tigerfish - I think he was just acknowledging that coilovers are the better way for a drop as the shocks are designed to take it. But I agree with you that a geo checkup is a must after any drop.
  11. Unfortunately I have to agree with the naysayers here - with nav for that price the quality of other parts is going to be dire. I would avoid. I would go with a name brand unit.
  12. Yeah i find the same as Jason with my short shifter. You have to go from the centre straight to reverse to do it without a massive force. I do make sure people can do it though before i let them borrow my car :P Not that I let many people borrow my car mind you.
  13. I would try it again later obviously. Problem may have gone. Try doing 6th without the engine on - and while moving. Also try getting 6th fron neutral and from 5th gear. If 6th is really no longer there then it needs looking at proffesionally IMO. You can pick up 2nd hand gearboxes on ebay for ok money - you would want some kind of garuntee though.
  14. Right - so had a visit on Friday evening with Rolex who as promised had my pulley nicely machined, balanced and some super strong bolts in - Legend! So thats now back on my car and I'm truly loving it - for the first time since I've had it fitted. I no longer have the induction kit noise all the time and the pulley no longer makes a grinding noise when I change up or lift off. I must say that I did enjoy the induction kit to start with - as seeing grannies diving out of the road is pretty darn amusing - but It did not really sit with how i like my cars: which is sedate untill I really want to push it. Now it fits into this bracket and it makes a really nice noise when I change up at high revs :D. Hopefully you can see the new fat pulley screws: (Picture Curtousy of Steviewevie)
  15. Yep book time is 1 hour to change the fronts according to WIM who charged me an hour for the same job you are having done.
  16. Lexus park lane wanted around £1k for 60k inc Cambelt.
  17. most people who would have gone to the time and expense of getting twin exhausts fitted - there will be a large amount of fabrication needed to make the 2nd exit functional - will have got it custom made. I know someone has got a dual Blueflame exhuast fitted and they look quite close to OEM but do have a deeper throaty sound. Not chavvy at all though.
  18. ok so went to visit Rolex this weekend to get my airbox fitted after some teething issues which fitted fine. However the upside is that his brother is going to do me the great favour of drilling out my snapped screws and making sure the pulley is still balanced which is great. Will pick that up next friday on my way to a stag do in Barry....... Pulley comes off pretty easily. Remove the front part of the assembly like in previous pictures. Undo the c-clip in the middle and the pulley will just come off. Needed some pursuasion with a hammer. Another piccy with no pulley and new airbox :).....
  19. Sorry i couldn't make it along to this in the end - didn't end up leaving Bristol untill after 4 and then got stuck in the mother of all traffice jams on the way back (having got stuck in the daddy of all traffic jams on the way there) so just headed home. Glad you guys had a good time - ended up subconsiously using Rolex's arm rest yesterday and decided that i need one! So might well buy yours Nick if you ever think about taking it off the car!
  20. FCD is about £80 on ebay i think and that kompressor item doesn't actually include the kompressor just the brackets to fit it to the NA 230 Merc.
  21. All the custom pipework (prolex were selling this) including the compressor bypass assembly and throttle cable, supercharger bracket, some kind of induction kit or the TTE airbox, intercooler, pulley + belt and HKS FCD. You would also have the drill and lock down the supercharger clutch assembly. It would work out very close to £2k. Ed
  22. Crap forgot about this. Going to see Rolex in Bristol on Sunday to sort out my charger hopefully. Might try and pop along later on - Will give you a ring Steve.
  23. Yep the TTE kit is basically a modified Supercharger from the Merc 230 Kompressor with bespoke pipework and airbox. The kit will set you back about £2k and give you about 205bhp on a standard IS200. You might be best looking for a nice modified IS200 on Pistonheads or on the for sale section here.
