  1. Good plan - I happen to have one sitting around since i'm now charged..............
  2. Doesn't help as much as an autobox though. :P Lol. Well at least my suggestion would speed the car up rather than slow it down! :P A new clutch and flywheel will fix the problem but at a huge cost. Ed
  3. Yeah it was probably the heat causing a minor problem you allready have (clogged air filter, gunged air intake sensor etc....) more noticable. Is the car due a service? The air filter is underneath the Lexus strip on the top of the engine. If you look at the back of it there is a clip - also one at the front. Undo the clips and the whole section lifts out with the air filter in it. Ed
  4. You have a nippon industries car (Toyota) - I imagine it is a good idea to use nipon industries Spark Plugs (Denso) The IK20s give the best drive but last half as long as the standard plugs. The Bosch Super plugs have a bad reputation on the IS200: though i'm glad ynotshi is happy with his.
  5. only really happens if you don't match the revs properly when cold. Fitting a supercharger helps :P - plus with new clutch and flywheel plus fitting your almost there money wise lol
  6. most 6x9s split the audio within the speaker (i'm assuming using bandpass filters) from a single audio input - however IIRC the OEM speakers have the audio split by the amp and then the audio is sent seperately to each speaker (ie 2 audio inputs.) I'm not sure how Redz speakers differ from the norm. Sold my OEM 6x9s on a few weeks back but i'm sure someone will have a set sitting in their shed.
  7. Unfortuantely due to the 2 speaker setup on those 6x9s in the rear there isn't a direct replacement due to the way that the amp feeds them. You are best finding another OEM one.
  8. Yep any engine change you make it's bet to reset the ECU for the changes to be learnt much quicker - this also applies of you change from regularaly using 95RON to higher grade petrol.
  9. Not sure it works like that Stav - I think you only get to Race it in the official Ferrari race series which IIRC is about 10 times a yr. It's basically a research exercise for Ferrari funded by the customers. Not knocking it - cos if I had a spare mil (and received the invatation) I'd be doing it too! Also how did it get to stay on the lap board? There's no way it can go over speed bumps - well except in the back of a Ferrari lorry:)
  10. yeah my mintex squeal a little when feathering. Didn't used ot do it when i had oem discs with mintex pads - only seems to do it with the mintex disc pad combo. And yeah the dust is slightly better than oem but not much.
  11. yep when its cold and the oil is having toruble moving around it will tap a bit initially. But as Kam said use thicker oil if its worrying you.
  12. The japspeed one looks to be the austrian built one that Prolex sell. I have the prolex one fitted and its great. Drove my parents Touran all last week and the thing i missed the most was my gearbox. Only problem is that any vibrations you had are amplified.
  13. I enquired a while back, when I got the SC from Stav, about TTE airboxes and Dave got back to me saying that he had 2 but they were both up at Charlesworths for noise suppression testing on this. I enquired recently and Dave came back asking me to call Charlesworths as he didnt know how far along they are.
  14. Little plastic bits and bobs are generally quite cheap from the dealer - so I would check with them and only look elsewhere if they indeed do turn out to be expensive. The dealer will be able to supply all parts.
  15. If they are wrong the pulley will be out of balance - which is in no way a good thing Steve as it's running at a pretty high RPM as Patrik found out. I'm gonna get someone else to do it properly I think - rather than a slap dash effort by myself. I have had an offer from someone so might be seeing some progress next week once i'm back from the Isle of Wight festival. Hope the weather holds :P
  16. those shocks will fail soon i reckon - just changed the fronts on mine at around that mileage and I reckon one of my front shocks had leaked badly as my handling and ride are much better. (I think the drivers front had leaked so bad it was sitting lower!)
  17. Right a quick update. Visited WIM yesterday for some new front shocks and a Geo checkup and at the same time asked the other Tont whether he would be able to anything about it. His response was to confirm to me that it is going to need a pillar drill and ideally wants boring out to a larger size. He also recommended I take it to an engineering company - something I kind of knew would be the case but was trying to avoid. He has recommended me a company near WIM - but i'm going to try and find a place closer to home. Thanks Steve for the offer of assistance and everyone who offered advice. I'll keep peeps updated with costs and the like for future ref. Ed
  18. When i bought disc and pad sets they came to about £100 for each end with both mintex discs & mintex pads. All 1st Gen IS use the same pads and discs btw
  19. I find that if you start the car for the first time with the scanguage connected having had it disconnected the last time that it was running the ABS light flashes when the car is stationary and the engine is running. The fix for this is that you just unplug and replug the scanguage with the engine running. Should fix the problem every time. Glad you managed to fix it though.
  20. This one for front and rear looks fine: Link
  21. Tom did you get the pulley off? Wasn't sure if the pulley would come off easily if the belt is removed.
  22. Would be paying about £450 a year for my IS unmodified. With Lowering springs, ARBs, Exhaust and Supercharger paying £1035. Am 26 living in London with 2 yrs no claims and 2 accidents - one no fault. Ed
