The Supra was developed from the GS 300 and many parts are interchangeable. 18 x 8 and 18 x 10 Sport wheel work with the standard 25mm drop on Sport models, go much forther and you can foul the arches if you drive enthusiastically or have passengers. For me its a good compromise. You could look at the Aristo rear spoiler but personally I rather like the job that TTE did on the standard car to create the Sport. Many aftermarket bits cost a fair bit if they are of any decent quality and you are adding weight to a car that is no lightweight to start with. Free flow air cleaner and exhaust if you dont mid a bit of extra noise! Good luck and enjoy!

How Many Lexus's Have You Owned

Three GS 300 Sports, still have one as a daily runaround and enjoy driving it as much as my weekend cars. Its aged, but gracefully and still has character. -
I'm after another key fob, having somehow had mine lost. Can anyone help, please?

Can anyone advise where I can obtain a spare remote locking/alarm fob for my 1996 Sport, whether new or secondhand? Have all three keys but managed to lose one fob somehow - this is the later two part that came with a seperate ignition key - it has part number 08191-00910 stamped on the back. Any help appreciated.

If you go to the B & I trim website in the States, they will fabricate almost any RHD vehicle to order and keep the necessary templates. I have had an aluminium set made fo one of our other cars and the quality is faultless - hope that this helps. They ship insured using the USPS and Parcelforce, btw.

The bins are only used in Holland at the moment, and the high top Transit with tinted rear windows is a number plate recognition unit which interacts with a database stored on a laptop. These were first used in Manchester but recently saw service in Birmingham and more latterly close to Heathrow Airport. Note also that the yellow cameras are about to revert to grey again..... Happy Easter!

Just to clarify - yes it was Elite in Rainham, and I have never had any problems with Mark and the team at TDI - just a shame that Elite were the only local option following a suspension upgrade to set up the alignment correctly.

Just sourced a pair of brand new 18 x 10s from a dealer who was willing to discount down to £725.33 for the pair inclusive, when I asked nicely. Overnight delivery from the Toyota warehouse, in fact. Thought that to be a bit of a bargain, compared to refurb costs. The dealer is in Reading. btw....

Be warned that some products when used will preclude a tyre repair from being carried out as the repair adhesive will not adhere to the carcass once contaminated.

Very bad experience last year on our other car, which had been fitted with a brand new TEIN adjustable suspension set-up, and pillowball mounts by TDI. Rather than use the correct tool to slacken the allen bolts when adjusting camber, their staff badly scratched the alloy mounts and pronounced the bolts seized - the technicians at TDI who fitted them sorted the 'problem' in five minutes using the correct techniques and tools. I also had my immaculate BBS RS alloys scratched, but they wouldn't do the decent thing and own up, alleging that I had kerbed them, even though the wheels involved were offside ones (proved by the directional tyres), and I never have to park near a kerb anyway. Apparantly the fact that I had pointed out the show-standard wheel condition prior to their involvement and got their engineer to endorse this on their worksheet counted for nothing...... Originally they had agreed to pay for a replacement pillowball mount after several months correspondence, which included letters that had allegedly sent to me but never arrived - strangely unique to them, and I did point out that writing 'recorded delivery' on an envelop counts for nothing unless the Post Office get paid for the privelege and a label is attached as well! Upon finally realising what the pair of mounts would cost fitted, (following a TDI quote) they now have decided to pretend that they never agreed to sort the problem in the first place - and the guy that I had been corresponding with is one of their directors! Sad experience, as I had used them many times in the past, but would now take every opportunity to prevent anybody else from experiencing the same level of incompetence and deceipt that I have been subjected to. Be warned by my experience, or be very, very lucky. Court action will be my next step to obtain compensation and redress - they ignore the threats anyway.

I have had little sucess as well - I've been trying to source a rear set for my wife's GS and they seem to be as rare as the proverbial rocking horse stuff. If you find a reasonable source, do please tell me too!

Mpg

Just returned 27.2 mpg from our GS300 Sport (1997, 54k miles) going from London to Chippenham and back - about 200 miles. Previous tank consumption was worse - then I checked the tyre pressures, these are really critical. The handbook suggests 34psi for the standard fitment, I am assuming the same pressure is ok for the Sport. -
Anybody have any ideas on reliable sources? - I would like to replace the rear rims on my wifeys' 300.....
-
A really good tyre centre will be able to supply these - have you tried Micheldever in Wiltshire? In London, know that a Elite in Rainham can also do the same, but as I'm about to take legal action against them for wrecking a TEIN camber plate, I'm loath to promote them, but if you're really stuck....

I am very close to buying a late Mk1 1996 GS300 Sport and could do with a little advice on what to be aware of. The car that I am buying seems to be extremely sell kept, has over average owners but under average mileage, Lexus serviced until last year, one due now. Are there any points that I should be aware of before commiting? Is the standard wheel size 18 x 10 rear, or is this a desirable option? Any advice appreciated.
