  2. Hi Yes it is from a 93-98 series one, so it is bad news for me. Many thanks for you advice cheers psat
  3. Hi Guys My starter motor appears to be developing a flat spot on the comm. Will a starter motor off a series 1 fit?. My car is a 1999 not sure what the series 1 is but I could probably find out. Thanks Probsat
  4. Hi Seagram Please read from the link below http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...mp;#entry485543 I have since done 15k in mine and it is running really well. Just filled up at 49p per litre and still getting 5 miles per litre approx 10p per mile. If I really hammer it (never need to though) it will switch over to petrol. The petrol guage still drops when on lpg but eventualy resets itself to the correct level, please ask your installer if they have a fix for this because mine doesnt cheers probsat
  5. Hi I did mine with the greyish paint and with my car being silver the wheels look really good. Dont forget to use etching primer which contains an acid this penetrates the alloy to stop premature flaking. Cost me £50 and a full days dirty work using Nitromors paint stripper, masking out the tyres was quite time consuming, mind you by the time i got to number four i was pretty quick! cheers probsat
  6. OK, don't answer this question now because..... I'm after putting a deposit on the 00, flights booked and going to collect it on Saturday :winky: Fingers crossed I won't be disappointed when I see it! Hello Good luck with your purchase, sure you will enjoy the drive cheers probsat
  7. Hi Guys Where is the cheapest place for exhaust replacement, non of the exhaust centres list them. Cheers Probsat
  8. Hello Both of my door rubbers are coming away from the front doors in the area that you describe, the rubber is actualy torn. As temporary fix I have used araldite on the inside of the doors. I will do a better job in the spring. Regarding the panel lights, mine always dim when I drive it into my dark garage, they must be wired into the auto lights sensors either side of the front dashboard, the reason being is that you dont need the display lights as bright in the dark. Simply turn them brighter and they will be as bright as in the day but not full brightness thus saving the needles ( didnt know that fact ) Cheers Probsat
  9. Hi Chris Thanks for the reply, the only drawback is the fact that it is very expensive locally at £1750 plus VAT Cheers Probsat I have been running cars (including a few Lexus's) on LPG for years now and never had a problem. i have just had a GS300 Sport gassed up and cost me £950 inc vat, for the single point system, they offered the multi point for £1300 took them 2 days and did a quality job too. Hi I assume that you had your work done in Plymouth, have you got a contact number please. What is the economy and performance like? What is the advantage of the mutipoint? Sorry for all of the questions Cheers Probsat Yes it was in Plym 01752 249915 Economy is great 80 - 110 miles for £10 of LPG Multi point better economy but only by something like 3% but more parts to go wrong, so i chose single point which i have always used with no problems. hi i have purchased a tartinin97 single point system with donut tank from ebay for £150 for a mark 1 g3 300 sport 88000 is it worth insatlling it on this car i do about 25000 business miles a year but dont use this car its my toy but it would be nice if i wanted to go to scotland or so that i would be on lpg. is this single point worth a risk it is complete and for a mk1 gs or should i buy a brand new one any help would be apprecited cheers Hi I was advised by a few installers to have the multipoint system fitted of which I am very pleased with. I cannot notice any difference between gas and petrol. Maybe chris will give you some advice on how his car performs probsat
  10. Hi Wow Are your cars both Mk1's ? if so there is obviously a difference if your fuel gauge is not moving when on gas cheers probsat Yes, i have sold 1 now though. Fuel gauge moving? i have not said that but no it does not move when on gas, the gas one does though! Petrol gauge does go down over time as it starts on petrol then it switches over. On the Mk2's the fuel gauge moves when running on gas because the ECU takes over operation of the gauge, and of course the gas fuel gauge drops. For example my low fuel light came on this morning and when I reset the petrol gauge the needle went up to just over half way again

  12. till setting up the flash lube I am now using approx 6 drops per minute I will report back when I ahve done more miles. At the moment Regarding the fuel guage, now this is a right pain! There is a kit that is designed for the mercedes range but this does not work for the lexus. The theory behind it is that it pulses the feed to the fuel gauge, I have fitted a relay that is operated by the rear brake light circuit. The relay when energised breaks the feed to the tank sender unit, the problem is that there are 2 sender units so it isnt working correctly. Mine works as follows, the fuel gauge drops as if it is using petrol, when the low fuel light comes on I reset the guage in this way. When I start the car I hold my foot on the brake the guage is now showing empty, I then stop the car and take out the key. When I start the car next time the guage shows the true reading which in my case it is just over half full. The process then begins again ie: the guage will drop again, with this method the guage only resets when the low fuel light comes on. To add, during the first 1000 miles the economy and performance dropped slightly, this was rectified by resetting the pressure to 2 bar pressure. During the first 1000 miles the system beds in! At the moment I am only driving locally and I pay 43.5p per litre, for a £26 fill I get between 210 and 240 miles cheers probsat
  13. Hi I own the Gs300 and the fuel pump is actually in the fuel tank at the back of the car, easy accessable by removing the back seat.. Most modern cars are built in this way, so surely your pump will be in the same place. Hence there will be no metallic knocking in the engine bay cheers probsat
  14. Hi Shake You can disconnect the battery on a Series 2 ok when the alarm is set(if you open the bonnet without setting it off of course), it is when you try to reconnect the battery, then the alarm will sound. From my previous post Activating the system. The alarm sounds for 30 seconds if any of the following are operated. *unlocking any door or trunk without using the wireless remote control *Opening the hood forcibly *Reconnecting the battery *Turn the ignition switch on Cheers Probsat
  15. Hi Just tried mine again and when I press once on the remote to lock the car the indicators flash once, press again and the indicators flash 5 times and appear to deadlock the locks. I was sitting in the car at the time to check for inside sensors but I moved around without triggering the alarm, so I assume no sensors? cheers probsat
  16. @ smiler Please check yours out, maybe on the mk1 internal sensors caused problems so they dropped the idea on the mk2. Hopefully a member with a later Mk 2 model(2000-2002) will post cheers probsat
  17. Hi This is what it says in my owners Handbook To Deter the theft of the vehicle, this system is designed to give an alarm if any of the doors, trunk or hood is forcibly unlocked or the battery terminal is disconnected then reconnectednwhile the vehicle is locked. Setting the system 1 Turn the ignition to the LOCK position and remove it. The indicator light flashes by means of the engine immoboliser system 2 Close and lock all doors, trunk and hood using the wireless remote control. If you lock them with the wireless remote control, the turn signals flash once ( the turn signals can be set not to flash, ask your lexus dealer for details) The flashing indicator will change to stay on when all doors, trunk and hood are closed and locked. 3 After 30 seconds, the indicator starts flashing and the system is set. Cancelling the system When you unlock the system with the wireless remote the system is cancelled. If you unlock any door or trunk with the wireless remote the turn signals flash twice ( this can be turned off , ask you lexus dealer for details). Activating the system. The alarm sounds for 30 seconds if any of the following are operated. *unlocking any door or trunk without using the wireless remote control *Opening the hood forcibly *Reconnecting the battery *Turn the ignition switch on If any door is unlocked and the ignition key is not in the ignition switch during the alarm sounding, its door is automatically locked. To stop the alarm Use either of the following methods. *Unlock the door or trunk using the wireless remote control. Testing the system 1 Open all windows 2 Set the alarm as described before 3 unlock one of the doors from inside. The system should activate!! 4 Unlock any of the doors with the wireless remote control to cancel the system 5 Repeat this operation for the other doors and hood. When testing the hood, also check that the system is activated when the battery terminal is diconnected and then reconnected. If the system does not work properly, have it checked by your lexus dealer. The above is a direct copy of the text from my GS300 SE owners Handbook. To add, when opening mine with the wireless remote control, if I hold the button down fo approx 10 seconds, I hear a bleep from the car, then all windows and sunroof open. With the sunroof and windows open I then use the remote to close the car and if this time I hold the close button down for 10 seconds the windows and sunroof close and sets the alarm. So has you can see there is no mention of internal sensors in the owners Handbook (dated 1998) My car is June 1999. To add my remote control has three buttons one to open one to close and the third one when held down for more than 5 seconds opens the boot. I hope that this helps someone Cheers Probsat
  18. Hi My 1999 GS 300 SE Has not got any internal sensors, I have the owners handbook and no mention at all of any internal sensors Probsat
  19. Hi Guys Covered 1000 mile since the conversion, travelling approx 250 miles at a cost of £24 of gas at 41p per litre. Performance seems no different at all. Starts on fuel and changes to gas in 2 minutes when the outside temp is zero degrees. Only problem at the moment is the fact that the fuel guage goes down until the warning light comes on. I thought that it was actually using both gas and petrol but it is running to well. However the gauge resets to its correct position soon after the light comes on, in my case it lifts from nearly empty to three quarters full, so it is using very little petrol considering that I have only been doing short stop start journeys with the odd short motorway trip during the last 1000 miles. The car is going in to have a fix fitted on 14th, apparently the ML mercedes have this same problem, caused bt the CPU of the car controling the fuel gauge and not solely the tank sender unit. I am very pleased with the results that I am getting, also saving some cash by getting approx 37 mpg. Hopefully the fact that I have the flashlube valve protector fitted the engine should be ok. Expensive to have installed but well worth it long term. Cheers Probsat
  20. Hi Good luck with the new car, looks very nice cheers probsat
  21. Hi Probsat - where did you get the conversion done in the end? Cheers, Dave. Hi Dave I had it done locally costing £2000 using a firm called Car Gas who are a member of the relevant association of recognised instalers, fully certificated. Contacted my insurer Adrian Flux and the premium remains the same. I am now monitering the consumption, if I get less than 220 miles local driving from my first fill of 60 litres(including expansion space) I am to take the car back and they will make adjustments. If I get the 220 miles they will have the car back after 1000 miles to check the system is operating ok. Thereafter every 20000 miles or two years It should break even in around 15 months at my current monthly mileage Cheers Probsat
  22. Hi Guys Had the Lexus converted this week took them 4 days but a truely splendid job. Decided on the BRC Multi point sequential system with 70 litre tank. Had multi lube fitted to protect the valves because of the longer LPG burning time. This morning the outside temp wae -3 degrees, started up the engine on petrol and within 2 minutes driving it had automatically changed over to gas. A warm engine takes between 10 and 15 seconds to change to gas Early days yet but the performance is unaffected and the engine actualy seems quieter. I will report back on the economy, localy LPG is 41 pence per litre Cheers Probsat
