  1. When I were a lad............ our family drove to Yugoslavia and back in a Ford Thames 15cwt ex-Rediffusion van with bus seats in the back and a home made roofrack! Happy Days Indeed!
  2. A short school run is a real killer to mpg in my experience.
  3. Does this cover the side airbags in the seats?
  4. You might wish to consider Lanoguard - it needs applying once a year but it has a very good reputation. Belt and braces?
  5. I have the NX300h, bought my roof bars from Lexus. However, regarding the roof box - unless you are using it every day and are concerned about style then consider a Halfords Exodus or similar. Not particularly easy to fit but does the job! My only recommendation would be to buy the largest you can afford.
  6. Verey sorry to read your story Stuart. I am gutted for you. Did any other neighbours have damage to their cars? I will never fully understand vandalism.
  7. Picked up my LS400 after service and MOT pass. Surface rust underneath most components but nothing structural to worry about, I was informed. Pleased for a 25 year old car! Another year of wafting, hopefully more often!
  8. I am getting 27 mpg - it is winter and I am doing very short journeys. So I would not worry too much. Take it on a long run and see what you get. Last summer I averaged 45 mpg on holiday with a roof box.
  9. I never take my LS400 out if it is raining or the roads are wet, if at all possible. Does it do any good? Let you know when it is MOT'd tomorrow!
  10. I had a triple CABG (Conorary Artery By-pass Graft!) 8 years ago. my blockages were 95%, 85% and 70% if I remember correctly. You will not be allowed to drive for 6 weeks after the operation. The post op exercise classes are essential to get back your fitness - you may even begin to enjoy them! They will probably take a vein from your leg and use that as the "tube" for the by-pass. It is considered a routine operation, but not to the person who is having it! As Stephen said above, the main pain you get is from coughing - that is why they give you a rolled towel to hold against your chest. You will feel quite weak for at least 2 weeks. Please DO NOT attempt any form of exercise until you are told to. I got bored and decided to polish the car roof after 3 weeks - oh did I suffer! Be a patient patient and your recovery will be quicker! Try not to worry unduly and if they offer you an earlier appointment take it! Keep us informed how it goes please - all the best!
  11. Good spot Rowley. Interestingly, I was told that Steven Eagell Lexus dealers have more freedom to offer older cars for sale compared with Marshalls - not sure about Edgware (?)
  12. It has a good MOT history - if it comes with a Lexus 1 year warranty then it could be a good buy. Top price but you should get the reassurance of a Lexus warranty.
  13. Whippets? We use Corgis down south!
  14. Just remember, the big NO! NO! is that you can't jump another car with your hybrid!
  15. The whole system is very clever - if you monitor the energy usage you can get the ICE and Battery to be working at the same time to propel the car. Lexus cars waft along very nicely without the need for haste. My driving is slower compared with other cars I have driven. I try to keep in the economy section when accelerating - much slower to build up speed. The CVT gearbox does not lend itself toi being thrashed.
  16. To admire and sit in a car that has been extremely well prepared is, in my opinion, lovely. It is all about enjoyment. If you enjoy detailing your car and you get the pleasure of the finished product then well done. If you pay someone else to do the hard work and enjoy the result then good for you! I have spent many hours in my younger days cleaning and polishing my cars. I still do my own car but not to the extent I once did.
  17. The LS400's DO mend themselves! People don't belive it but they do!
  18. QUOTE: Triumph Herald convertible was my first car and having that freedom at 18 is hard to beat The first 6 months of having a license and a car to drive beats everything since to be honest. Driving Dad's Mk2 Cortina 1300 and then owning my first car, Ford Anglia 105E(?) 995cc (£50 - watching the road fly beneath my feet through the rust holes!
  19. I could not agree more! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
  20. Financial tip (insider trading probably!) BOILER SUITS They are the future of clothing!
  21. Basically an upgraded starter motor. I understand hybrids do not have a starter motor.
