we've restored it to the furthest date (in vista its doesnt go back very long) as a last resort we will do a full restore.. (fresh from the box)

hi folks, im hoping someone else has had the same problem and fixed it. its caused by automatic windows update, the registry corrupts itself after the update stopping the system from connecting to windows servers. (well done microsoft!!!) its on a vista sony vaio laptop. the last time it actually updated was near the end of march. i have uninstalled most updates prior to that date but still no luck. at the same time Outlook and Google calendar will not sync. (i believe they are linked to the same problem) there are no firewalls blocking the updates/syncs. everything else will work fine. i've done everything i can think of or find on other forums but still no luck. i've brought the laptop into work in case it was the internet at home but it is not.... apparently regcure "may" fix it but im not willing to pay for something that might not actually work. the free version will fix 5 out of the 1000+ after that you need to pay as a last resort i'll recover the system to new but this really is a last resort as it is my sisters work laptop (self employed)

could this be a write off? the car is probably worth £2000 on a Y plate

without taking off the rear bumper i cannot tell if it has also damaged the bar, from the inside it looks like a bent shell, which probably has bent the bar also....

Hi folks, Not my car, but friends nissan almera mk2 was hit from behind. the bumper wasn't really damaged and you could only see paint ripple. However the metal frame on the inside where the spare wheel sits is bent out of shape. Enough so removing the spare wheel was a bit of a mission. The other party has accepted liability and his insurance is taking the car on monday. Am i right in saying the garage has to repair the bent frame? (not very clued up on this) and yes i know, this thread is useless without pics, i'll try and get them asap! thanks!

they may look good, but think about what it results in. theres a bmw 330 down the road with a kit. the glare is just stupid. it blinds the crap out of anyone unlucky enough to be in front of him & to top it off he's probably lost 50%+ on throw and actual useful light. it all depends on the headlight housing. some cars they are fine but others aren't. you can tell kits from the real thing when it rains hard or is foggy, as the glare is very noticeable. people just dont think to re-align the headlights when they do this mod /rant

maybe the new battery is flat... and its running on 1 cylinder now? (just thought i'd throw that out there) talking about batteries... when do yours run out? or are you plugged into the mains?

i think the scooby lot like another brand which just happens to use the word vortex... Afterburner Vortex Exhaust or something, which is actually the rear can, where as this is a unit that goes into the system (be it acting as a rear can or in the mid section) here are some videos they sound great at high revs, but not over the top at low revs

Ahh, sounds like a plan. Do you mean actually tape it inside the headlight, so i would have to split the headlight, or is their some other way. Im not sure what the covers look like on the IS but they'd just need taping to the inners of the rear cover. the cover being the one that you remove to change a headlight bulb, so not actually inside the front housing. sounds like its the HID's install causing the problem.. if they are secure give the silica a try

if it continues stick some silica packs in the headlights. tape them to the rear inner cover.. this "should" help if not get rid of the problem. obviously dont tare the pack & tape it around the sides not covering the centre

TaTa is now owned by an indian firm so maybe the indian goverment should get its hands in its pocket. If the goverment are canny they will let it fold then buy Jag and nationalise it for a while on the cheap rather than bail out foreign nationals I know TaTa is indian, the UK cant keep anything to themselves. first it was sold to the americans now its in the indian hands.. and theres talk of royal snail going to foreign hands. whens the queen going up for sale? i personally dont think the UK should help. the UK gives billions in aid to countries like india yet they can afford to have a nuclear arsenal? ****** my money away!

i had plus.net for roughly 5 odd years... it only came to an end at the start of december. never had a problem with them ever... only reason i switched was we got sky and a broadband package saved me loads....

theres always more in it than we can see or know... who knows how much GM have loaned/gifted the US government and now they are borrowing millions in their time of need. im not saying tata have lent money to the UK government, im just hoping the UK government have our best interests...

thanks for all the replies! been so busy only just got to read them. the sky box has normal aerial and dish cables going into it. from there it scarts straight to the tv and one to dvd recorder. the sky box is set to RGB. i think its down to signal strength, will have to give it a test if i can get the remote off the family!!!! :duh:

We got Sky+ today!!! YAY!!!! well you'd think. Got home from work and i knew it was a bit fuzzy as i had a text during the day. The tech guy said for me to have a play with the wires as he wasn't sure what was causing it. i have 30days to call them to sort it for free, however i'd prefer to sort it as i cant take a day off work. BBC 1 & 2 is very fuzzy(however i can use the tv digi-tuner for crystal clear tv), the other channels are ok, but they are noticeably soft/fuzzy. we have a 37" Toshiba LCD tele and i've had a play with everything i can think of but it wont sort it... does anyone else have the same problem? i was expecting very clear images! thanks!
