  1. That's probably it then - it's the pre facelift (69 plate). Weird because even my 07 IS250 had a dvd player back in the day!
  2. Beginning to think maybe it's a fault - I'll try small and try a CD first...!
  3. Cheers Mincey - yeah definitely parked - and 99% sure the parking brake is on (does it by default right?) Just wondered if anyone has actually successfully tried it and it definitely works?
  4. I thought my 69 es could do this? I tried a few DVDs but nothing happened on screen. Am I missing something?
  5. Happened on the way back during the pretty heavy slush that was going on up the M40 I stopped to get fuel (this time the pre-crash detection was off as well!), looked at the badge where the sensors are and there was a perfect disc of ice (as well as the entire grill and number plate!) Headlights were caked in ice/slush as well so gave it a going over before getting my wallet emptied by motorway services petrol and all was working once again. I should have taken a picture of the perfect disc of ice over the badge as it was rather amusing - made me wonder what happens to ES owners in countries with permanent weather like yesterday
  6. Radar cruise control stopped working when it started snowing. Started working again as it stopped snowing - happened to anyone else?
  7. Yeah it's definitely on in the lexus infotainment and fairly sure it's on in the android side just wondered if anyone else had the issue ?
  8. Still not seen any ESs on the road... And I do around 400 miles a week down to Berkshire and back. Here goes some Q's that I've not as yet found an answer to in the manual. 1) can the radar cruise control distance be set to minimum by default? It's a marginal annoyance to have to set this every time I turn on CC 2) Auto-wipers? I could have sworn they worked at some point on a journey (definitely didn't work on my loaner) but could be Mandela effect 3) android auto - auto start-up. Seems a bit hit and miss. If I've been using android auto recently and then get back in car it will automatically start-up, but sometimes I have to click the android auto button on the infotainment (despite the music from AA coming through) All first world problems for sure but thought I'd ask!
  9. One thing I have noticed is about the LOC...it's rather quiet here these days. It was quite the hive of activity on the IS200 and 250 forums. Slightly quieter on the 300h but very very quiet here on ES. If the amount of ES's I see on the road are an indication (not one have I seen) then I suppose that answers my question
  10. All of those were just a bit of googling so nothing concrete I'm afraid. If it were me I'd test it on an android and another iPhone (that isn't one you've already tested). If none of those work then it's a lexus issue. If any of those do work then I'd "take off and nuke the site from orbit" - full reset if your phone.
  11. And one last thing....make sure Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled. Before trying to get carplay working make sure your phone can connect to the lexus infotainment via Bluetooth
  12. In other cars you can hard start the process by holding the voice button on the steering wheel so could try that
  13. Also make sure it's enabled when your phone is locked
  14. Make sure car play isn't restricted? Setting/screen time/content. And privacy. Tap allowed apps and make sure car play is enabled
  15. Have you got a spare android phone knocking around to see if it'll spark android auto into life? Also not to ask a stupid question, but you are plugging it into the front USB right? I've never used apple so can't help you with that side, but there's undoubtedly a setting in car play to reset all connections, is there something like that?
  16. Just the bog standard, I couldn't wait around for a premium pack one to turn up local to me (needed a new car imminently!). But it's got all the bells and whistles I'm used to (cooled seats and ML would have been nice like on my is300h f-sport but hey ho). Same black paint as my IS - the one with the sparkly bits on it (no idea what it's called). I did make sure to get the alloy protection plan this time - costly mistake last time around. Dealer told me it was £400 to fit android auto (!!) So I said no thanks, but he's going to fit it now while they've got my car by way of apology for the nav issue on day 1 - as well as paying any expenses for the last couple of weeks so I'm happy 😀
  17. Definitely a data transfer cable? Some USB cables are so low grade that they're barely good enough to charge...
  18. Well I'm finally back. I've finally made the jump up a size (previous IS200, IS250, IS300h) and now onto the ES! Lexus Derby have been really good. Although the day I collected my ES I drove out the showroom down the road, went to pop my details in the sat nav and... There's no navigation button on the infotainment screen. Odd I think and turn around. I gingerly go back inside, feeling like my manhood is about to be handed to me as someone shows me a button I've failed to press But no, salesperson says "it shouldn't do that" followed by two other tech guys saying "it shouldn't do that". In the end they just let me leave with a similar model on loan while they faulted. That was almost two weeks ago. They've faulted it and awaiting a part (guessing the nav unit, curiously it did not read as any fault on OBD). In all my research I've found one instance of it happening on an ES -c£2k fix...ouch! That aside, I'm very happy with the ES. Only two gripes so far (one I've overcome). 1) I changed phones and on the new phone Bluetooth audio would not give any ID3 info - I had to go into developer settings to change Bluetooth mode to 1.3 (pixels fault not Lexus) 2) no auto wipers? Seems an odd thing not to have, doesn't bother me too much though. Anyway...hello 😀
  19. Truth be told I just like tinkering :) have yet had an experiment blow up in my face (touch wood). Though I am thinking about buying an old Prius to fart around on now. Maybe if the tech improves and I can successfully not knacker the Prius I may well dive in after 5-6 years of ownership.
  20. Lexus have confirmed they wouldn't even attempt the mod, let alone support it (which I guessed would be the case). job itself I could potentially do my self, but I've got a good friend to support if I go ahead with it. My warranty's up soon so I've got to weigh up whether to purchase an extended warranty (how much are these incidently?) or go balls out and fit the mod. Seems to work pretty well on the prius, so I've no reason to suspect there isn't a good (although potentially marginal) benefit. If i'm correct, the strain on the existing battery shouldn't be an issue as the circuit looks as though it complements the battery rather than suppliments it. Although I haven't checked the installation in full yet. If it's the case that the additional battery puts any strain whatsever on the existing circuit, then I'll step away.
  21. Each to his own, but I couldn't live without my ML. I've had it in the 300h and my 250. When I've test driven non-ML IS's they just don't cut the mustard, no matter how much fiddling I do with the EQ the punchiness of a ML system can't touch it IMO. If I was buying new I'd probably think differently about it as an option if it were a lease, but considering I've had 6 years in my 250 and plan on keeping this one for 10 years, the difference in price on a used 300h wth ML or not was negligable and I may well have forked out more than the premium difference if I had to.
  22. I've never heard of the electric column breaking. That's the kind of thing (quite rightly) id be worried about in other cars, but it shouldn't keep you up at night in the 250
  23. Just emailed them to see if there's any problems fitting to a lex and also if they have any Europe resellers. I'll definitely go ahead if there's no major issues. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the link.
  24. You get a lot of toys with the se-l . might not ever find much use for the electric blind though (I only ever used to it show my kids some 'magic'
