  1. she's a cracker!! but gosh! hasn't insurance gone up!!!!!!
  2. its an R plate 97. 130k miles. a few little bad bits, nothing major. bit of history, long mot, less than a grand. i just needed a cheap car to run across country every 2 weeks, couldn't think of anything more suitable for the money :D
  3. Wish i'd never sold this a few years ago..... Now back in the fold with this..... won it on ebay last night! seems genuine enough and it was a decent price so hopefully its all ok! picking it up wednesday or thursday, see how it goes.
  4. she's made me think about changing our old rx300 for one!! but looking at the reviews on here i dont think i'll bother, look for a decent 400h
  5. I rang lexus with my concerns and apparently its a goodwill gesture as we are good customers, buying and servicing at the dealers. so its all good B)
  6. Ok so a bit of background on our car, its a 2004 RX300 SE-L bought 2 1/2 years ago from lexus with the pre owned thing. It had 35k miles with full history 1 owner. Now has full history 49k miles. Last night the abs, parking brake light and vsc light came on. I disconnected the battery to reset eveything and it was all fine when i took it round the town for a spin in the snow, all electrics beeping and buzzing as it sorted itself out. Today taking my son to school all the lights come back on so i phoned my local lexus dealer who said take it straight down for a look. Got there and they said it needed a bit more of a look than the plug in and check stuff so they ran me home. About 45 minutes later i get a call and he says, bit of bad news, the part is £5300!!!(appprox),its the brake actuator or something and the snow that was on the car has melted, dripped down through somewhere near the windscreen(saying maybe it had had a new screen at some point? would that not show up anywhere on the history? or will the screen have an original stamp on it?) onto some wires corroding the actuator and some other bits and bobs. Yet he goes on to say that that is a high price and because of the age of the car(dont know if he meant old or not that old?) he had been on to the phone to lexus head office and they have offered to give us the part free!! and the local dealer have discounted the labour so all in total price is £598.65..........great!! Or is it? The car has been parked in the snow, its in mint condition, full service, low usage and yet its costing us £600 for getting snow on it? And how come lexus offered to give us something worth £5k+ without asking or any questions within 45 minutes? discounted labour charges too?? Now dont get me wrong, i know lexus have a good reputation for good customer relations but to me it seems as if what has happened shouldn't have happened(i know things do go wrong). It seems to me like they are making it look like they are offering a fantastic deal when maybe its not? The dealer did say they would 'MAKE SURE' that it wouldn't happen again after i joked about getting a car cover from argos! Obviously i started to think these after i got of the phone and over the enitial £5k+ bill i thought i was getting, but again these knock you down then build you up again ploys are used to hide the truth. Am i synical, getting a good deal or being taken for a ride? What do you think? Ta Matt
  7. she's finally been sold. didn't really want to but she was just sat there going nowhere :( hopefully the new owner will look after her like i did. i'll miss the big old girl.
  8. makes a big difference in my opinion! if i rememberi think they were about £12-14 on ebay
  9. it was a siezed parking brake cable on one side. apparently it happens and occasionally grabs the disc while driving causing the jubber effect. dont undersatnd why it siezed tho as my wife always uses it, not like me in my ls400 who never uses it! mind mine is older so much better quality;)
  10. well i'm actually in the process of selling my 97 mkIII and i 've held out for what i think is a fair price. yes there are cheaper but mine has been well loked after and is a good example. i've had an unbelieveable amount of intrest in it(i think the main problem it didn't sell is i'm never there to let a buyer take a look!). a deals been done and when i return home it goes :( and i am selling it for more than your £1595 valuation. '97 mkIII with 122kmiles with some history, in black.
  11. only going for half a day! flying out thurday, get there about 7pm and flying back on the 9pm flight so its just going to be a heavy session on the drink thursday night then a quick wander round the shops then maybe that wild wadi or just a chill on the beach. i'm only going because i'm working in saudi and my 30 day visa is up and you have to leave the country for a night! crazy going on.
  12. i'm going to be stopping over there for 2 nights and wondered if there's any advice of what i can do in a day! what not to miss or do? i fancy a swim in the sea and a drink in a bar as i'm working in saudi now and there is no alcohol! a quick look round the shops maybe? any advice would be cool ta
  13. Hi, i usually hang out in the LS forum as our RX is more of our daily than my pride and joy! anyway we have an 04/54 RX300 sel and its started to develope a funny wobble/vibration from what feels like the rear passenger side wheel area. the first time it did it i thought the tyre had gone as that was the feeling it made, like driving over a rumble strip? it sends a vibration right though the car! i got out and checked and found no obvious problems, so set off again and all was fine! since then its done it once or twice again. it doesn't happen at a certain speed, its just random. it is going in for its service next month but would like to try and find out the problem and see if i can sort it(cheaper) myself. its got 44k on the clock with a full history and this is the only issue we've ever had in the 2 years of ownership. any ideas? thanks Matt
