  1. I have to go into the dashboard setting to turn my WiFi on everytime I restart my vehicle. Is there a way to just have it stay on whenever I restart the car? Thanks!
  2. I am pretty well versed on this subject, unfortunately because I had a factory unit installed then removed because it sucked. 1. You can only dial the speed dial numbers that are in your phone. 2. You cannot say numbers to dial them. 3. The only possibility would be an ATT system where you can set one of the speed dial numbers as their *121 which would then access your personal voice dialing system where you can store 2000 voice numbers at $3.99 a month, but Lexus doesn't use an ATT system for cell, although they do for the Lexus Link. (Pretty sure about that, not positive). 4. By a Parrott Bluetooth unit that plugs into your cigarette lighter and a blue tooth phone. Works "fair". (Its called "driveblue"). How can a car company that's so advanced, be so weak on cell phone technology?
  3. The 2004 LS 430 is going to have a bluetooth option. Does anyone know if the kit can be purchased from Lexus to install in an existing LS430 (2003). Does anyone know who will manufacture it?
  4. It is my understanding that this is a system download performed by the dealer at a cost of approximately $299 USD. New versions typically come out in October/November.
  5. I have a 2003 LS430. There is a switch on the left side of the dashboard to turn it off or on. When it is on, it works all of the time: forward, reverse, or even when someone walks closely next to the car!
  6. I have! It will somewhat resemble an S-Class Mercedes. Don't know if I will like it or not! Harvey
  7. Need some input: I have a full set of gold lexus LS 430 emblems that I must use or give up. I paid $600 US for them. No credit is possible. Hood, tires and rear deck. My car is a 2003 Millenium Silver with chrome wheels. Most dealers say don't put the gold on with the silver. (That's the vast opinion). Only rarerly has it been done by any of the dealers I have contacted. My wife said if I do, I should add the center gold emblem to the grill, the rear Lexus symbol and the tires, NOT the words Lexus and 430 on the rear deck. A very small number say put it all on. I need some opinions: Add all of the gold, some of the gold or none of the gold? Has anyone ever seen a millenium silver LS430 with any gold in the first place?
  8. I recently test drove the BMW 745li. I own a 2003 Lesux 430 Ultra. The BMW was a disaster! The navi screen is set back into the dashboard over an arm's length away, and the screen is consierably smaller than the LS 430. Frankly, it was hard to see. The "controller" to use and set various functions was very invonvenient and undesireable. The driver's seat controls are between the driver's waist on the right side and the side of the armrest. Hard to find, let alone use. The new "push to start" button for the engine, is located almost directly behind a steering wheel switch (cruise control or windshield wiper, not sure which at the moment), and it is conceivable you could accidently "stop the vehicle" while attempting to use another function. No electric folding mirrors on the 745LI although they exist on other model BMW's. The mercedes E-320 is not the same car to compare an LS-430 with. Maybe the E55. Even then, all the bells and whistles are not the same. Lexus has some comfort issues to work on: Cell phone system, mud flaps availability, etc., but all in all, its one of the best vehicles on the road today. I dislike the fact they are changing the outward design for 2004, because mine is a 2003! I would have hoped they would have kept the design until 2006 as was originally planned.
  9. If anyone has access to the wiring diagram for a 2003 Lexus 430 navi/radio system, I would greatly appreciate a copy. Willing to pay for it. Thanks!
  10. I have a contact located in New York City who has been sucessfully coverting the navi screens to DVD. No idea as to cost.

Western Avenue Torrance, CA 90509 Re: 2003 Lexus 430 Ultra – Integrated Cell Phone System Dear Mr. Clements: I am the owner of a 2003 Lexus Ultra, complete with every accessory available. I purchased my vehicle in January, and waited patiently for the release of the Integrated Cell Phone. In anticipation of placing the order, I had numerous conversations with your “800” customer service as well as my local dealer. When I was informed that the system was available, I immediately ordered it. Doing so, required me to purchase a Nokia 6310i cell phone and commit to a one year contract with AT&T. The system arrived and my vehicle was brought to my dealer, (about 100 miles away) for the installation, which took two days. Regretfully, I now find myself seeking the removal of the equipment and a complete refund of all monies and expenses incurred. The reasons are as follows: 1. Lexus has decided for me, that it is best that certain features are not available to me while the vehicle is in motion. This decision was not based upon any law, rules or regulations, but rather arbitrarily. As a result of this fatherly concern, the list that follows is what I CANNOT do: a. I cannot access the phone book while I am driving, to touch a button to place a call. b. I cannot utilize the keypad to enter a tone to enable me to reach an extension or even the operator or employees at at my own office, because we have an electronic voice attendant answering device that requires punching “0” for an operator, or the extension number of the called party. c. I cannot retrieve my own voice messages that are left for me, even if they come in during a call in-progress which was dialed from a stop. d. I cannot call Lexus customer service as I am required to enter a number, 1 through 4 depending on the department I wish to speak with. e. I cannot transfer between calls when a tone from the keypad is required. f. I cannot dial 911 in the event of an emergency or 411 to obtain a phone number. g. I cannot access the 250-memory phonebook. h. I cannot tell who is calling me, because the caller ID features works up to the cell phone but does not connect to the navigation screen. i. I cannot get the phone system onto the navi screen unless I touch the button on the steering wheel to make a call, wait for it to ask me for a voice recognition name, then hearing none, I must hit the “cancel” button to proceed. 2. Here is a much shorter (and perhaps more hazardous) list of what I CAN do: a. I can voice activate up to 20 numbers providing they do not require entering an extension or pressing a button. for an operator or extension. Interesting enough, I must physically reach forward and touch the navi screen to punch “yes” for the call to go through, or “no” if my voice brought up an incorrect number. b. I can dial one of two numbers that I have preset from the steering wheel. The instructions say three numbers, but the first is automatically assigned to voice message retrieval by Nokia, however since I cannot activate tones it is useless. c. I can reach forward, touch the navigation screen and scroll through the first list 9 numbers from the speed dial, but I am now reaching forward and then touching the navi screen anyway. d. I can pull off a major highway onto the shoulder, hoping I will not be hit by an approaching vehicle and use all of the features. Then, I can try and get back into the flow of traffic on a freeway, hoping that I am not involved in a crash. (Is this not a greater liability issue for Lexus)? The antenna is far beneath Lexus standards and sits in my rear window with visible adhesive that resembles something that has fallen off. It is extremely unattractive. There is no button to take me to the telephone mode. The only way to get a screen is to do a voice tag and then reach forward and hit the “cancel” button. This appears to be true whether the vehicle is moving or not. And, of course I have lost the volume control adjustment for my radio as well. With all due respect, this system is an abomination and embarrassment to Lexus as a manufacturer and to me as a consumer. I spent a great deal of money to own this vehicle and I drive it with pride and envy. I touch an “I agree” button to use the navigation system, why not give me the same option for the cell phone and allow it to operate full function? (You also ought to allow the navi system to work fully as well)! Perhaps a seat pressure switch on the passenger seat to enable the passenger to dial? Better yet, how about allowing me to make my own safety decisions so long as I am not violating the law. Seatbelts are a far greater safety concern, yet Lexus doesn’t require me to be buckled in for the ignition to start! This entire issue with the vehicle’s velocity control is absolutely ridiculous. If you allowed that device to be disabled, the cell phone system would almost be a fully useful accessory. I urge you to revisit that feature before I have the system removed or perhaps even an exception in my instance. Please be aware that I have shared these concerns with mr. John McLaughlin in California, and Mr. Oliver Gunther in Germany from Nokia. When this matter is fully resolved, I will be the first in line to purchase a cell phone that will do as I and all other purchasers want: To be able to call any number in our phonebook, at any time, and enter any extension or retrieve any voice mail messages that we may have or need. I truly regret this issue has arisen. I thank you for understanding my concerns and those of your other customers on several continents who are communicating on the Internet. Sincerely, HARVEY E. 13. The laser cruise control is wonderful! I wouldn't be without the garage controls, there are three of them in the USA LS-430. The voice nav sat sucks. It rarely works. The integrated cell phone is even worse. It cost me $2600 and I am having it removed, because when the vehicle is in motion, all of the features are "grayed out" and not accessible. It is sad that BMW and Mercedes has beaten us out on this!
  14. Come-on guys, I still need help! I just concluded a lengthy call with someone at Toyota in California, about finding a way around the "velocity" control that shuts most featrures on the navi and the cell phone when the vehcile is in motion. I was advised this is simply a "phylosophical" issue. Kind of a Big Brother watching out for us. I was informed this is the single biggest complaint. He agreed that there MUST be a way around it, but he is doubtful that anyone at Lexus would divulge this. We talked about a waiver of liability when you push the "agree" button on the navi right now, if there would also be one for the cell and allow them to work. Not getting anyhwere. Who is our technical electronic guru here? Has anyone experimented with this issue? Harvey
  15. Well, I am becoming more familiar with the new Nokia built-in phone system that connects to my navigation screen. I need some help from a technical person! The phone operates like the navigation, inasmuch as when the vehicle is moving, many features are disabled. Someone must know how to disable the "velocity" feature as they call it. I have contacted both Nokia in Germany and Toyota for Lexus and am still awaiting replies. My dealer thought that by depressing the emergency brake a little, that feature would be over-ridden, but I tried it once without success. This really detracts from the otherwise user friendly features. [B]I NEED H-E-L-P!!
