  1. Thanks Sami, That explains it. When I had the TPMS valve replaced in one wheel 3-4 years ago I had to take it back because it kept showing a 'low pressure' warning. They said they had changed the valve and it seemed OK - until a couple of years ago when the 'Check System' warning appeared. So it is probably the valve playing up again. I'll have a tyre place check it out, but as long as it still does not affect the MOT I can put up with the message.
  2. Thanks for your response. I got hold of an OBD reader and using an app on my phone I found some errors relating to ABS, but nothing for VSC. However, I cleared the errors shownand this seems to have removed the VSC notification. On another note, I also have a 'Check System' notice along with a tyre and engine symbols. These have been displayed for the last couple of years since I had a TPMS valve replaced on one wheel. This has never caused an MOT failure, but wonder if you could suggest how I may clear the message - using the OBD if possible.
  3. The 'Check VSC' warning accompanied by the dash light has yet again appeared on my 2015 GS300. This has been happening intermittently for the last couple of years or so. It comes on then usually disappears again within a few hundred miles, and does not appear again for a few months (sometimes longer). As I understand it this is a MOT fail (if the warning is apparentat test time). Anyone else experienced this issue, or more importantly have any suggestions to try and turn it off.
  4. I recently posted about the power steering on my 2006 GS300 failing after the battery was recharged following it going flat whilst left stood up for a few weeks. The other day, after it stood for a week or so post charge, I started the car to take it to a garage for diagnosis of the problem, but hey presto the power steering was working again. After a couple of more days I went to take the car out and neither of the two key fobs would register - so I had to open the car using the 'key', with the alarm going off and an error on the dash saying no key located resulting in my not being able to start the car. The batteries in both fobs are relatively new, so any suggestions on best approch for rectifying this issue would be appreciated.
  5. Once I start the engine,t he only light that remains on is the P/S light - everything else seems to operate OK,
  6. It is a relatively new battery (18 monthsor so). I tried disconnecting it following your suggestion and find that the P/S is still not operating and the light is still on.
  7. During the recent cold spell I had not driven the car for a coupleof weeks and when I went to use it the battery was flat. I charged the battery and all was well for a couple of days when driving it. Yesterday, after a few days of being parked p, when I started the car the P/S light was on and I have no power sterring. What do I look for first to try and identify the problem. 2005 Lexus GS300
  8. Sorry - meant Techstream - senility at its worst 😕 Hopefully someone close will have it as I don't have a laptop to run my own copy - if I had one.
  9. Does anyone have the Techsmith software and live close to the Newport - Brecon Beacons area of South Wales.
  10. Sorry for the delay in feeding back. It was the battery 👌 What threw me was that I had charged the battery a few days before the fobs stopped working, but when I took it off to take it in for chacking it only had 2.5Volts in it ?????? A local workshop put it on their charger/conditioner for 24 hours and it had 12.8Volts when I re-installed it. The fobs worked and the VSC warning both were resolved and the battery has held its charge for the last few days - so all I have to do is to get the new TPMS registration error resolved and we are back to norm. Thanks for all your input.
  11. Thanks guys. It was brand new only 6 months ago - but I'll get it checked tomorrow. (Someone else also suggested that the 'Check VSC' warning may be the battery asit only comes up intermittently)
  12. Thanks Guys. Unfortunately the batteries were the first thing I checked - and they are both reading 3 volts.
  13. I am hoping someone here cal give me an understanding of what might be going on with my 2005 GS300. I fitted a new Enduroline 069 75AH battery in August 21 - recommended by a friend - and then a couple of weeks later moved house but in the meantime had been using the car regularly. After moving house the car stood for a week or more without being driven and when I went to use it againa I tried to unlock the car using the fob without any success, so I tried the spare fob, and again no success.Thinking it might be the fob battery I changed it in both fobs - but still no success. I used the key to unlock the car, and the alarm went off. The dash display had a message - no remote key found. I closed the car and within a few minutes the alarm silenced and the car locked. I left the car and used my wifes car and when I got home a couple of hours later I tried again. The first fob didn't work, but this time the second did. All was well for a short while until yesterday when, after having used the car a few times last week, I had exactly the same problems with neither fob unlocking the car until after numerous tries over the next 30 minutes, one of the fobs worked. I used the car covering about 10 miles, and on my return parked the car, turned the engine off and locked the car. 2 hours later one of the fobs successfully opened and started the car again, but the second did not. This morning, one fob opens the car but the other doesn't. Any suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated. (I do have another problem with an intermittent 'Check VSC warning which started about the same time, but I'll deal with that seperately)
  14. Thanks guys. I have a jumpstart pack and the neighbour has a spare battery - so sorted. I will of course heed your advice and BE CAREFUL 🤓
  15. I have to replace the battery on my 2006 GS300. What issues am I likely to encounter or should I look out for with the electronics of the car when I disonnect the battery. Any advice??
  16. Thanks Guys. We are moving house in the next couple of weeks and the garage at the next house has a bigger Garage(workshop) and a lot more room, so I'll have a go at it when we move. I'll be driving the car for about 100 miles (mostly motorway) between now and then, but I'll guess it ain't going to overhead and catch fire in the meantime.
  17. I have a 2005 GS300 and the other day I noticed that one the rear exhaust box heat shields had come adrift and was just resting on top of the box. It appears it was bolted on to the underside of the body and the holes for the bolts had 'enlarged' causing it to drop off. Some folks say - 'leave it off' and others say - 'the car could catch fire'. Has anyone experienced one falling off and if so, did you leave it off or take the exhaust box off and 'patch' it back.
  18. We arrived back with no further warnings - so not sure what is going on !!!!!!
  19. UPDATE: This afternoon after about 100 miles on the motorway the red Brake symbol, an orange ABS and the Check VCS came on. I ignored them for a few miles than stopped at a services. When we left the services the lights/warnings were gone and wwhen we stopped after a further 100 miles they were still off. We have 250 miles to go tomorrow so it will be an interesting trip.
  20. It is an old battery but has never let me down. I will check it when I get home in a couple of days. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. I am back. Yes, so is my issue - but a different message. Before it mentioned low tyre ressure, but now the Message is 'Check System' with the tyre light. It came on yesterday after I had driven 300+ miles up the motorway. Here's the weird thing. Just after the warning came on I had a new message in addition, it read 'Check VCS' and the skidding car light came on. 10 minutes later the Orange Brake Disc and orange Engine Management lights came on too. Today the lights were all on and after driving 35miles I left the car for a couple of hours. When I next started it the Disc and Engine management lights were now gone, along with the Check VCS warning, although the 'Check System' warning and associated light is still showing. I spoke to Lexus and they said that they could not comment without connecting the car to their computer, charging a minimum of 1 hours labour at £132 - more than I pay my solicitor and hour to convey my house sale !!!!!!! - but even then could not guarantee it would give a specific answer and more investigation may be necessary also at £132 per hour !!!!!!!
  22. I answered that question previously - cost of units vs value of the car, particularly as they do not form part of the MOT. However, I'm glad I didn't spend the rediculously high prices for any make sensor, let alone the OEM ones, as the problem has now gone - see my answer in the last post before yours.
  23. Here is the weirdest thing. As I originally posted, after having a sensor replaced the low pressure warning was on all the time. I took it back and they checked and said that none of the sensors were reading - and I have lived with the warning for a good 18 months since. Today I took the car in to a different tyre place and they used a basic hand held reader which did not see any of the sensors. So the mechanic put the computer on the car and connected to the ECU which showed 2 sensors were reading and 2 were not. He suggested taking the tyres off to check the batteries, so I made an appointment to return for him to do that. Here's the weird thing, as I drove off, the warning was gone and after a day of restarting the car the warning is still gone. So either something happened to disable the TPMS warning on the ECU, or the problem was cured - heaven knows how though. So now I'm a happy chappie.
  24. Yes you are correct. My 2005 GS300 passed its MOT with the warning light on. I am not going to pay the money Lexus wants for fitting new units, and when I recently had one fitted by a local tyre centre for £65 it want not calibrate. Now they are saying none of them are readable by the ECU - so not going to waste money - the car (despite its immaculate low mileage condition is worth less than £3000 and to spend £500 plus on tyre sensors needs a big swallow.
